    My first cataract operation, and all staff were very considerate and understanding, and the atmosphere at the clinic was very relaxed and calming. I was very impressed with the professional and caring way they treat the patient…excellent…and thank you for making it a good experience .

    Pre-assessment: Clinic cancelled after 45minutes because the sole optometrist had called in sick. As I had paid £100 for a driver (having been told I would have drops put in and couldn't drive), the helpful manager agreed that a taxi would be provided on my next visit and also that the pre-assessment and surgery on the first eye could be done on the same visit. On the day, I had been told that the taxi would collect me at 8:15 for a 9:00 appointment. When it had not arrived by 8:22 (and I had not received the promised text - it finally arrived at 9:15), I rang the clinic and although they could not contact the driver, they were able to tell me where he was which was waiting 200m away from the house - I never found out why, so I walked the 200m (I am unable to walk far or fast and 200m is my limit), found him, and we set off at 8:30, arriving just on the dot of 9:00. Not a good start to a stressful day. I was ticked off on the list and sat down in the waiting room. More patients arrived and were ushered through to the next waiting room. I started chatting to a lady in a wheelchair next to me who had had an 8:30 appointment; at 9:30 I asked her if she would like me to enquire on her behalf. I was able to establish that we were both sitting there waiting because 'someone' had forgotten to sign us in. Ho hum. I saw the optometrist for five minutes at just after 11:00. I was in the third waiting room until about 12:15 (the appointment for surgery was for 10:40) when I had drops put in and moved to the fourth waiting room. At 12:50 in the fifth waiting room, I asked if there was a particular reason for the clinic running late and was told of the 'debriefing' that morning and that this should have been conveyed to patients. I had the surgery some time after 1:00, followed by the discharge and thankfully a taxi home about 2:00 (although initially it was the wrong taxi.) My medical history is admittedly complicated and I had earlier flagged up my inability to sit upright for several hours. I hope/expect that the surgery is excellent and that is the main thing after all; I just hope that with the second eye, things are more straightforward.

    Referred for laser treatment to SpaMedica. Seen within a month & treatment received 3 weeks later. Really good service all staff very pleasant, professional & knowledgeable.

    I received an appointment within one week. Clinic was well presented, staff efficient and courteous, free coffee and biscuits provided and parking on site. Operation was painless and successful. What more could you wish for?
