  1. Review titled Exemplary show of kindness

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lucy - Posted on 17 January 2024

My father was brought to A&E on Monday 8th Jan 24 with breathing difficulties following lung surgery at a different hospital before Christmas. He was cared for in A&E, the EAU and ward 9a before he died on Friday 12th Jan. The kindness and care shown by every member of staff at Yeovil was outstanding. The nurses, doctors, consultants, cleaners, porters and canteen staff were, to a person, attentive, patient, considerate and most importantly kind. Not just to our dad but to all the patients we saw them interact with. My sister and I commented on it at the time - it felt like a real culture of kindness and respect exists throughout the hospital. We never felt rushed, our father was listened to, his wishes were respected, and we were given the time and space we need to be with him. He was treated with dignity throughout and made as comfortable as anyone could possibly manage. We were fully informed at all times about what was happening and as a result were able to ensure the right people made it in time to see him before he died. Thank you to all concerned for making a truly horrible situation as bearable as it could have been.

Very bad and unprofessional staff, waiting time very high. Booked at 12:30 and waited until 5:30 and not been treated as I should. They are occupied with those that come with the police handcuffed.

After a motorcycle accident I was treated promptly and with respect by all members of staff. I am not an easy patient since I have a number of allergies and am cautious about taking many pharmaceuticals following adverse effects. I found all the staff to be understanding and kind in spite of my fringe views.

  4. Review titled Amazing journey to recovery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Beverley de Bruyn - Posted on 09 November 2023

I was taken to Ambulance & Emergency on Wednesday 1st November with dizziness, weakness, nausea. Thereafter I was admitted to Emergency Admission Unit & then to Acute Cardio Care Unit. My medical problem was quickly identified, explained to me and possible solutions presented in order for me to make an informed decision on my own health. The Nurses, HCAs and Consultants at YDH are super amazing, cheerful, caring, hardworking & knowledgeable. Each person went the extra mile! At every process of the way through to and beyond surgery, I knew I was in very capable hands! And also going forward a plan for was put in place for follow ups which gave me even further reassurance. Thank you!

  5. Review titled Outstanding care received

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Melissa - Posted on 15 October 2023

Myself and my daughter were recently involved in a car accident. Paramedics and Police attended the scene, where we were taken to Yeovil Hospital. From the minute we arrived in A&E the Doctor's and Nurses were amazing. My daughter is young, she was frightened, scared and worried about me but the nurses took very good care of her. They checked her over, checked injuries on her and cleaned them up. My daughter was offered lunch and the same nurse sat and spoke to her about the accident and what was wrong with me, and what would be happening to me next. The Nurses calmed my daughter down, cheered her up and soon had her laughing and joking with them. This was a huge relief to me, as I couldn't move to see my daughter, only hear what was going on around me. The care I had was very fast and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the team. I can't thank them all enough for helping me and my daughter like they did! You're all a real credit to the department, and to the hospital. Thank you all so very much!

  6. Review titled Easy colonoscopy

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Astrid - Posted on 22 October 2023

Every aspect of my care was first class. The consultant who carried out the procedure was excellent, talked me through everything and calmed my nerves. A sedation was not necessary, I got some pain killer instead that worked perfectly for me. There was nothing undignified or embarassing. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Many thanks to all of you.

  7. Review titled Very disappointing doctor

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 October 2023

I walked into the A&E department after having been referred by someone from 111 at 8pm. I saw the triage nurse after an hour and she told me to wait to see a Doctor. I find myself 4 hours later still waiting to be seen by anyone with countless people coming in and out. Finally gone 1am I am seen by a doctor who belittled me being there with a laugh and said she wasn’t sure why she was bothering to do anything as it would have been fine. After a very long time waiting having being told to by two healthcare professionals it is an utter shame to have had that treatment after a long evening.

  8. Review titled Colonoscopy

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Other than being left for an unknown time after I changed, every aspect of my care was the first class. The consultant who carried out the procedure was excellent, the pain despite no anaesthetic, although it was offered, the backup nurses gave a great atmosphere so that I would not feel tense. Many thanks to all of you.

  9. Review titled Welcoming professional hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Tracy Walton - Posted on 19 August 2023

10/10 to Yeovil accident and emergency I attended today for a suspected blood clot in my leg following surgery. All staff from Receptionist, Triage nurse, Staff nurse on the Orthopaedic section and attending Orthopaedic Practitioner were reassuring and supportive and answered my questions. I need to return for a Doppler test tomorrow but that is the fault of the current government through underfunding that it was closed today. All staff were welcoming and friendly.

  10. Review titled Good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Patricia - Posted on 26 August 2023

My husband has had to visit the AEC dep't four times over the last few days and I just wanted to say how kind and respectful every single person we came into contact were. Considering how busy the dep't is, patients were treated as soon as possible and greeted with a smile and a caring attitude. Thank you.
