A very heartfelt thank you to all the staff of Syringa ward for the excellent care and compassion towards my mother who sadly passed away today. As a family we were kept up to date with all aspects of her care at all times. Most importantly a big thank you for the affection showed to us on a very difficult morning. You are all angels.

My 101 year old mother was admitted to A & E where the resus team did an excellent job and couldn’t have been more caring. As a family, we were kept up to date at all times during very difficult circumstances. A big thank you to everybody involved in her excellent care.

  3. Review titled Supportive staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I came into have a laparoscopy, everyone was very friendly and kind from the moment I arrived. Everything was clearly explained. When I returned back to the ward I was continuing to vomit after trying to eat and drink and the nurses attended to me quickly and gave me extra time to feel better before discharging me. I couldn’t remember what exactly what the surgeon told me when I came out of theatre so the sister on the ward requested a doctor from the gynaecology team to come down to clarify what happened in my procedure which I really appreciated, I felt much better when I left because of this. All staff on the ward and friendly and kind natured, it was definitely one of the most positive experiences I’ve ever had at Whipps Cross so a really big thank you and shout out to the team on Plane Tree ward.

  4. Review titled Efficient, helpful and very caring service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Paul S - Posted on 29 March 2023

I attended an appointment this morning for a hearing test in the Audiology Department and was extremely impressed with the kindness and helpfulness shown to me by the audiologist. In particular I enquired abot the possibility of "Bluetooth" hearing aids, only to be told that the repacement aids I had been sent some months earlier did indeed have this facility - and she then proceeded to show me how to install the app. on my phone which I very much appreciated. The audiologist whose name I sadly don't know is a real credit to the hospital. Incidentally this followed another very positive experience, this time with the dermatology department! On Friday of last week I was referred by my GP because of suspected skin cancer - to my amazement I then received a telephone call on Sunday offering me an appointment for yesterday. Once again I was treated with great kindness and respect and was given the reassurance that my problem was almost certainly far less serious than was feared! All in all two very happy experiences of Whipps Cross - well done!i

  5. Review titled Awful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2024

Dealing with this hospital and in particular, the endoscopy department, is just horrendous. Referral was not dealt with and after much chasing with the Pals team, eventually received an appointment, albeit, two years late! Had pre assessment appointment and the staff was incredible rude and unhelpful. Given no info on the procedure and when I had to call back to ask a question I was told the they were ‘busy working’ and made to feel like a nuisance. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone.

  6. Review titled NHS did me proud

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by James Fordham - Posted on 21 February 2023

From arriving to A&E to leaving some 4 hours later, I can honestly say that I have nothing but good words to say. Considering shortages and difficult working conditions I felt really well looked after. Consultants checked on me regularly to ensure I was not stressed and I felt like real care and attention was given throughout. The same applies to my time 2 days later at the Ambulatory Emergency Care Centre. Well done everyone.

  7. Review titled Some staff need training

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 March 2023

Went in recently with a patient who had an appointment for an issue with her breasts. We asked whether a female doctor was available for the physical examination and the staff member at the desk rolled her eyes. There are a number of reasons why a person might ask to see a female doctor; there might be sexual trauma, or there might be religious reasons or other. Either way, as a medical professional, they should be impartial and what she should have done is said either yes or no - without the sass. The experience made the patient feel very small and belittled so some training in compassion would go a long way I would imagine! Other members of staff were a great help.

Really impressed with the efficiently, care and kindness of the staff I encountered when using the an and e service last week. The receptionist was friendly and got us straight to the minors dept who dealt with us with 30 mins. They were also very friendly and kind. We were in and out in an hour which is very impressive when the department was very busy. Thank you whipps cross!

I came in to ane last week and I have never ever been spoken to so rudely buy a member of staff in my life she was so rude to someone who was scared in extreme pain and all she said was I will be ok when I leave here it’s a fast paced job I’ve worked for the nhs for many years but if you can’t deal with hard situations then don’t work there and take it out on unwell people it’ was disgusting and I will be putting in a formal complaint about the woman and the way she treated me and your hospital is disgusting and needs a deep clean blood on floor and door handles is unacceptable and the behaviour of your member of staff working in the first door as you enter taking blood tests is nothing short of disgusting and I will be reporting her PALS

  10. Review titled Amazing wTd

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Pata - Posted on 06 March 2023

I was omitted to Rowan Ward Bay l on 27th February, staying for almost a week. Going in as emergency could have been scary. However the opposite was true. The nurses were amazing, but one in particular stood out. Her name is Comfort Sanders. Great name, Great nurse; she went out of her way to put me at my ease as much as was possible. The whole team were great. Well done Rowan Ward. Food was excellent and on time. Whilst my condition was painful, nurses were with me immediately to keep it under control. A re-occurrence would not be nice, but with this experience there would not be the fear of going again.
