Review titled Excellent Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had surgery to manage my third miscarriage on the maternity Unit- Jasmine ward. From start to finish the whole experience was excellent, the professionalism, care, knowledge and sensitivity of every single member of staff I came into contact with- even the porter! I cannot rate this place highly enough, I only wish I found it sooner having had previous negative experiences elsewhere. When I eventually have a baby I will choose Stepping Hill.

My mum was taken to stepping hill a week ago even though she lives minutes from Tameside hospital. At first I wasn’t happy due to the distance we have to travel to visit. A week on and I am over the moon with the care she has been getting. From the minute she arrived she’s had first class care. No waiting in a&e. Straight to the stroke unit. She’s that happy in there she asked can she stay bless her. My mum is 93 years old and they don’t treat her like some senile old lady they treat her with care and compassion. Well done stepping hill

Review titled Bad experience from start to finish.
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Sam - Posted on 27 December 2022
Firstly, i’d like to state I understand that this is not the fault of the nurses and doctors who work at the infant accident & emergency at Stepping Hill, but those solely responsible for the running of the health service. The care and service which was provided for my 11 month old daughter was poor. Triage Nurse which was in such a rush she sprayed oral ibuprofen in my daughters eye, then a doctor which gave several possible illnesses without any clarification or being able to answer any questions. My daughters symptoms worsened during our wait and it took having to go to the main desk twice to get any attention. 8 hours in accident & emergency to leave without a diagnosis and a prescription that listed several items which aren't obtainable due to national shortage. After being told I would not be able to collect the prescription from Stepping Hill, I asked if they knew of an open pharmacist (boxing day) which I was then told to google in. Ending up in Rusholme, I was told I would not be able to get Penicilin and the hospital would have been aware of this. As I had several other things on the prescription, I handed it in and then collected the other items thinking i’d be able to get in touch with accident & emergency. After ringing accident & emergency 7 times I was told I’d have to come back to Accident & emergency with my daughter to wait 5-7 hours to see a doctor for a prescription. Meanwhile my daughters health remains the same and I'm awaiting a prescription from 111. Over 24 hours has past. This experience has completely alienated me. I do not believe the service available can provide adequate care for anyone. Rooten from the top and I sympathise with the nurses and doctors who are being set up to fail.

Review titled Excellent service overall

Recently attended the A&E department and from the moment we checked into reception to the moment my mother was discharged home, I cannot thank each and everyone of these professionals enough for the care and compassion they showed throughout our stay. Everyone was so cheerful and efficient despite being incredibly busy. We are so fortunate to have our wonderful Stockport NHS Foundation Trust

Review titled 8 hour plus wait
by normayn38 - Posted on 26 December 2022
I think it is absolutely sickening that my grandmother of 93 was considered a concern but that we were then made to wait 8 plus hours for the next set of triage. Stepping Hill should be ashamed of this waiting time.

Review titled Let down by notification of results

Referred on 2 week cancer referral. Seen within 2 weeks, excellent communication and lovely staff. Biopsy taken on 2 week testing. 4 weeks later still not received the results despite chasing twice. Little point in being referred so promptly if results are communicated. Not to mention the anxiety of waiting over 6 weeks for a possible cancer diagnosis

Review titled Great service

My husband fell off a ladder from l9ft, ambulance arrived whilst still on the phone to 999,went straight into casualty seen very quickly kept in fit two days for observation for head trauma. Excellent service all staff helpful and friendly. Couldn't have asked for any better service, a wait for a bed but that was understandable as very busy.

Review titled Poor treatment of patients.
by Rytro - Posted on 07 December 2022
I was sat waiting over an hour for a timed appointment: left alone in a room for 45 mins after being called into a room. This is not satisfactory in any job, especially the NHS.

Review titled Excellent care & nursing
by Jean2022 - Posted on 20 December 2022
Re Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport My husband, in his seventies, was sent to A & E at Stepping Hill Hospital last Saturday suffering from suspected appendicitis. The wait in A & E was much less than what we expected because of the football match between England & France! The relevant investigations were done calmly & efficiently. He was admitted to the SSU Ward later in the evening having had a CT scan to confirm the diagnosis. The staff were caring & considerate & made time to explain the situation & what would happen. Due to emergencies he was not able to have the operation on Sunday but the reasons were explained by the very busy surgeon. The operation was performed on the Monday & the care in the ward was excellent. My husband was then moved to Ward D26 where the care continued. I cannot praise the surgeon, nursing staff & those working on the wards enough. We hear so much about the faults of the NHS. They were not obvious in this case. Many thanks.

Review titled Shameful
Rated 1 star out of 5

My 87 yo Dad was admitted with breathing difficulties a week before Christmas, by his GP. Until then he managed to walk about, and had no continence issues. A week into his stay he'd not been out of his bed, and he was wearing incontinence pads. He was discharged before Christmas with three crocheted blankets and nothing else. No need assessment or supplies, my 85 yo Mum managed to get him into a wheelchair and took him home. He was home for three days, the family pulled together, on the third day we had to return to work. Mum couldn't cope and called the GP for advice. The GP again called an ambulance. Dad is still there, he's lost all confidence and is, unfortunately, sinking fast. He hasn't been given the support he needs to get out of bed and the bed rails have been raised, despite numerous requests for them not to be. In all the time at Stepping Hill he's not taken a single step, and his confidence has completely gone. No one has been available to provide physio, so he's left in his bed, 24 hours a day, with incontinence pads, and he's absolutely mortified.....he wants to go to the toilet and he hates being cleaned up like a baby. He went into Stepping Hill with breathing difficulties, nothing else, he could walk, look after himself and go to the toilet....he was cooking and riding his mobility scooter the day before he went in! Now, he's unable to walk, his feet have swollen to double their size, because he's been kept in his bed 24/7 alone, no professionals have offered support in any way above the very basics, he's incontinent and left either lying on incontinence pads, underwear or a combination of both. He's lost his appetite, so has simply been given high calorie juice, and he's growing more depressed by the day. No care, no consideration, no needs assessment and absolutely no dignity. Oh, and despite pleading for a Needs Assessment every single staff member has brushed us off, yet Stockport Adult Social Services have told us that if we don't get one from the hospital there's little chance they will be able to provide us with on! This is completely unacceptable
