Review titled Unacceptable

My g.p has referred me to Southend hospital on a 2ww which means you should be seen within 2 weeks as suspected cancer. So got my appointment today for just over 6 weeks time so what's the point of having a 2ww if they don't use it so now over 6 weeks of worry.

Review titled Very disappointing

I have never had an issue with audiology at all and have been for a number of appointments, i have had hearing loss from a young age. My recent ent appointment I hadn’t even been sent in regards to an issue with my ears but my nose, appointment number 1 was given a hearing test no big issues I thought all part of the service. I was told to leave and the consultation would call me. When he called he went over my hearing loss and told me I had normal hearing and low level hearing loss in the other of course I was shocked never had these readings before. He wasn’t aware I was a hearing aid wearer or even my history, let alone I had attended for my nose. When my husband spoke with him, his words was literally I don’t know what you want me to do, but agreed to see me. I would like to see my in clinic was any better as he still had no past history on my hearing loss, when I asked him to compare my last reading to this one I was told he couldn’t, all I wanted to know is if my ear drums had finally started working and if so why do I still struggle with hearing especially when I don’t use my aids. There was no offer to even repeat the hearing test. In regards to my nose, I knew the issues and was scared and asked him please don’t tell me in which as close to my face as he could get he gave me that news I had asked not to be given. I have taken this up with pals and hope that in future more care is taken in care of patients especially those who suffer trauma. I am not ok with my treatment or level of care I was given this time round.

Dreadful place. My poor son has been in & out of there since January & he has currently been in ED since 7 am last night, although he is immuno suppressed. I dread him going on to a ward though as the staff just can't be bothered

Review titled Friendly and Professional
Rated 5 stars out of 5

From the moment I took my wife into A & E to the moment we left, over a five hour period - my wife received immediate and caring attention. When I dropped my wife off to A & E to start the check in process, by the time I had parked the car and returned to A & E she was not to be seen as she was already being attended to ie consultation, blood test resulting in a quick analysis of my wife's urinary infection which was then quickly treated with antibiotic intravenous and saline drips. My wife and I felt that we were both in completely safe hands - we were so grateful for the emotional. mental and physical relief and are so grateful to the A & E staff at all levels. Just as a foot note we have friends, in their very senior years, that had a long term wish and would have liked to have relocated from Southend to Cornwall many years ago. They decided not to because of the superb medical treatment always received by the husband - you've literally been their life line enabling them to live and enjoy all those things they've wanted to do in their twilight years. Thank You Southend Hospital for being there for us all!!

Review titled dedicated service

On the Monday before last I was clumsy enough to break my left ankle while out walking. My wife managed to get me to Southend hospital's accident and emergency. Within just over five hours I had been X rayed, the ankle put in plaster and allocated a bed in Shopland ward. The level of care was superb throughout and the dedication of the staff absolute. I wish to express my gratitude to all those who cared for me.

That's the second time when someone messing with my appointment, and worst that that I was told to wait but no luck, I have yo leave because I'm late to work. No apologies for they mistake and I felt like I'm mistreated every time I'm attending this department.

Review titled Superb treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by John Lyon - Posted on 14 November 2023
After a blood test I was discovered to have anemia. I was admitted to A&E for a blood transfusion , asked to attend sdec the following day for an iron infusion , asked to attend sdec the following day for a Ctscan and results showed I had colon cancer. The following day I was asked to have a colonoscopy and an endoscopy to determine source of my blood loss . I was then referred to my consultant who explained my condition in detail and put me totally at ease with the treatment she offered . I will add I was an extremely nervous patient and during all procedures I underwent I was put completely at ease and taken great care of at all times . My ward , the princess Anne ward was very reassuring and caring and all staff were professional and friendly. I have to sum up that I was treated extremely efficiently , with professional care at all times . It’s a cliche but thank you NHS Southend I cannot thank you enough .

Review titled The Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit team are amazing!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Annabelle Mayers - Posted on 11 October 2023
I just want to show some appreciation for the services and kindness offered by the EPAU. Knowing the NHS is generally underfunded/ under-resourced I was (pleasantly) shocked by how great the EPAU was. They were incredibly supportive/ kind/ professional/ responsive from the start of pregnancy problems (8 weeks) to losing our baby (14 weeks). We can not fault the people working their or the service offered... everyone we saw from sonographers/ nurses/ doctors were exemplary. Going through such a tough time was made less painful due to the solid & "human" support we received. Thank you, we were/ are very grateful this unit exists. [It's also worth noting that we had a private scan to check everything was okay but they did not pick up on the huge subchorionic hematoma... so the scan via NHS was far more insightful].
