  2. Review titled Recent hospital admittance to Rainbow suite

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 November 2022

I am a cancer patient that was taken into hospital by ambulance. None of the staff on both wards I was on had been trained to administer drugs through the PICC line and no one could flush and lock the line before i was discharged. I had to wait 4 hours for a nurse from intensive care to come down to the ward to flush the line. It took literally 3 mins. I then had to visit the brierley hill clinic the following week to get line locked. Surely all staff should be trained. Many cancer patients have collapsed veins so its important that drugs can be administered through the line as its very traumatic for the patient when staff are unable to get cannula in. Such a shame that this is happening on a new ward that is supposed to be improving services. Very unprofessional. The staff on the wards were all lovely and very apologetic and embarrassed. But this kind of situation is very worrying and adds to the stress and anxiety when patients are poorly

  3. Review titled Top Notch Medical Treatment!!!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Laurie Flower - Posted on 06 March 2023

I cannot say enough incredible things about the entire breast care cancer & surgical team (from the breast care nurse, the secretary, the AP mammographer, the breast imaging department & the photographers) as well as all the chaperones & many others who have a special hand in such delicate care. They are absolutely phenomenal!! The department runs like a very well oiled machine. Everyone knows exactly what they're doing. They work long hard hours and they still smile. Never once during my cancer diagnosis have I felt uneasy about my care. Allow me to assure you, they did not ever disappoint. I simply want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for their dedication in caring for vulnerable patients like myself, who still can't believe I've been given a breast cancer diagnosis. They are such a lovely group of kind, warm, gentle, compassionate, very informative and professional individuals who really do care about patients! For anyone out there facing the same and frightened, you are in good hands with the Russells Hall Hospital Breast Care Imaging Service and Cancer Team! From the very bottom of my heart, thank you! Its because of people like you, people like me retain hope and I genuinely thank you for that gift.

  4. Review titled Terrible attitude

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Lisa Burton - Posted on 10 November 2022

Father who has dementia was rushed in at 2am, spent 13 hours in A&E, he was treated quickly, however when mother went to visit who suffers from a severe nerve illness a security officer was called for no other reason than she was talking loud, which is a side affect of her illness. When she wanted to say goodbye to my father the same nurse said she didn't want my mother near him and wouldn't allow it. We were not told he was moved to AMU, we was not told anything. Had to have endoscopy, I called to see how he was and was told I cannot tell you. I understand specific medical details can't be discussed, but due to severe illness travel is hard. Why are relatives forgotten about? It's a 30 mile round trip to your hospital, it's just my mother and me. We cannot afford to pay £32 per visit. The attitude and manners of your staff is sickening. I won't contact pals, they never agree with patient, maybe ccg would be better! Avoid this place if you can help it. Rule of choice states you can go to any hospital in your borough that caters for your condition.

  6. Review titled Appointment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 November 2022

Attended eye clinic for preplanned appointment at 18 15 My 82 year old mother had received a letter a number of weeks previously and assumed the clinic had an evening clinic. On attending the department the clinic was closed. There were staff in the department who apologised for the inconvenience and checked the letter nowhere on the letter did it say it would be a phone call appointment, the letter even told us to attend 15 mins early and gave directions to the clinic Letters should have template checked, wasted journey.

  8. Review titled Desperation

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mrs Judith Phillips - Posted on 13 October 2022

I arrived in A&E on Sat 8th Oct at 10.30 pm with a suspected DVT five days after having a full hip replacement. I left the hospital at 11.30 am on Sun 9th Oct.30 (13 hours later). I waited 8 hours to see a doctor and to be given an anticoagulant jab. Absolutely diabolical service. Judith Phillips

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Julie Grove - Posted on 30 October 2022

My elderly mother needed X Rays after a fall, she was admitted quickly and efficiently to the Minor Injuries department. Waiting times were long as expected but we were directed to different areas so did not feel forgotten. Staff treating Mom were kind, caring and professional. A and E was busy and just got busier, thank you Russell’s Hall staff in A and E.
