  1. Review titled Humbling experience - yet admirable

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Doug Nye - Posted on 08 April 2024

Having been admitted as a medical emergency on Easter Sunday may I express my total admiration not only for the pace, attention and care I received in AEU and on Clandon Ward, but also emphasise my awed reaction to an episode witnessed one night in the latter. At all levels the staff dealing with me could not have been more caring, reassuring, friendly and efficient. The lengthy night-time drama to which I became a reluctant witness then demonstrated to me truly humbling levels of concern, commitment, competence and above all human tenderness displayed by a unified and well-led team - average age at a guess mid-twenties? The NHS takes a terrible kicking from all manner of media. As a pressman myself I have for years been acutely aware of non-specialist journalists' thirst for any negative story they can latch onto. Having declared this 'interest', trust me, I really must thank all management and staff for the awesome level of care from which I have benefited - and for the human concern, sensitivity and tenderness that I witnessed within Clandon Ward.

  2. Review titled Smooth process and looked after well

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 April 2024

Called 111 with a pain in my right calf and a booked in to A&E to arrive in the next hour. Once there seen for triage and vitals within 10 minutes, then further nurse examination, then doctor and then a scan to complete diagnosis. Ultra sound scanner came back from his lunch early to fit me in that day - much appreciated. Then got a plastic boot and ready to go. Even got a lunch bag while waiting. It took a number of hours but was carried out efficiently and by friendly staff and looked after well. Many thanks to the team who looked after me and diagnosed the problem and solution within hours.

  3. Review titled Dad left in soaking urine

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 April 2024

My Dad was admitted to A and E a couple of days ago (April 2024) with a suspected urine infection. Bloods were taken and all clear. No urine successfully taken but suspected infection so antibiotics administered. Upon collection by ambulance guys to take my Dad back to The Home, they were appalled at the fact he was soaked through with Urine and the staff were very unhelpful at wanting to get him changed and dry before the guys took him. The ambulance guys changed my Dad themselves. Astonishing considering he was admitted for a urine infection !! Written by a very unhappy 52 year old child

Dear patient, Thank you for your feedback I am sorry to read of your father's experience attending our Emergency Department. We are continuously working to improve the care and experience our patients receive. Your father's care was not as we would wish for our patients on this occasion. We would appreciate you sharing this experience in further detail to enable learning via our Patient Advice Liaison service on email Rsc-tr.pals@nhs.net or contact number 01483402757. Thank you. 4. Review titled Wonderful staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Tatiana - Posted on 10 April 2024

I just had an MRI scan and all of the staff were professional and supportive. I felt anxious beforehand but the staff were so kind and I felt really looked after. Both the people conducting the scan and the gentleman who looked after me before the scan were great. Thank you!

  5. Review titled Insomnia Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 April 2024

The Cognitive BehaviourTherapy for Insomnia which I was given over the last 4 months was very helpful and easy to follow for me . Telephone appointments with my therapist were on time and my questions were answered . I achieved much better sleep and cope well during the day . I had bad (cause unknown) insomnia for nearly 1 1/2 years until my GP finally referred me. One should not give up. Anyone can follow this therapy, it takes determination and application , and it did work for me.

  6. Review titled Excellent A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My wife had a swollen finger, constricted by a ring. The staff (front desk & medical) helped her quickly and sawed off the ring expertly. She was mightily pleased; this happened at around 9pm last Saturday. We would like to make a donation: how do we do this? Kind regards,

  7. Review titled Well done to all the staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Philip Camp - Posted on 14 April 2024

I must say, despite all the bad press (nationally) I am delighted to give my positive feed back for such an amazing team of professionals. The Royal Surrey and its processes need to be rolled out across the country where maybe some hospitals may be failing in delivering the same standard. Well done Royal Surrey 👏👏👏👏👏

  10. Review titled Fantastic radiotherapy care

Rated 1 star out of 5

by A grateful patient - Posted on 23 April 2024

Today I have received my final radiotherapy treatment at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, based at ESH, and so I would like to feedback to you about my treatment. As soon as I first walked into the centre for my planning CT scan right up until today, I have received exemplary treatment in every way. Every single member of staff has been patient, kind, considerate, and professional. No question was unaddressed, and I felt truly seen as an individual, with individual concerns that warranted time and attention. The centre itself is a safe, tranquil, and pleasant space, despite the nature of the treatments involved - for me, the daily visits were stress free and easy to undergo. I was fortunate to have my last few treatments on the newly installed Linac, and although no one would choose to have to undergo treatment for cancer, I can genuinely say my memories of this time will be wholly positive. Being a resident in Horley, the fact that the centre is based at ESH is a huge factor in the positive nature of my experience – a very short journey to and from the hospital meaning no added fatigue from travel. I am so grateful for that, and even having a dedicated car park contributed to the smoothness of each visit. In the midst of a rather unwelcome situation, I truly have so much for which to be grateful.
