  1. Review titled All staff were polite, friendly and caring

    by Cornishpiskie24 - Posted on 28 November 2023

Yesterday I was discharged from AMU 1 after a short stay following attending A&E after becoming unwell. I would like to thank all the staff who were involved with my care in A&E, the Treatment Lounge and AMU 1. All staff were polite, friendly and caring whilst working under extremely challenging conditions. At all times decisions about my care were fully and clearly explained and I felt the care I received was exemplary . Careful consideration of impact of my very rare long term chronic illness was always at the front of their decision making. Thank you.

  2. Review titled All the staff have been so caring

    by soilbm46 - Posted on 07 December 2023

I have found through my many visits to the blood management dept, that all the staff have been so caring kind and all with attention to details and have always left me feeling confident in their abilities. All this delivered with a great sense of humour to keep the patient in good moods.

  3. Review titled Unclear advice on breast screening for over-70s

    by fluteps88 - Posted on 30 October 2023

I am 70 and have just received breast screening. I was sent an appointment automatically. I have now been told that if I wish further screening in three years' time I must book an appointment myself. I will not be sent a reminder nor an automatic booking appointment. This is because I will be over 70. Yet the NHS has advised me in writing that breast screening is advisable for women aged 71 and over! This is a contradictory statement and goes against all policy and practice regarding disease prevention and the tackling of health inequalities. Please consider changing this unhelpful practice.

Good afternoon Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am so sorry for the delay in replying to you on here. I am sorry to see that you have been told that you have to book your appointment in three years time without a reminder as you are over 70, despite the contradictory information you have been given. I have been advised that the best people to contact would be the NHS population screening programmes who can be contacted on england.screeninghelpdesk@nhs.net. Thank you, again, for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Thank you Megan

  6. Review titled Fantastic staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hendrika - Posted on 08 November 2023

I have recently had a laparoscopic hysterectomy and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved in my operation and treatment. I am reaching 80 years of age and was very uncertain about the whole procedure especially at my age but I knew it had to be done. To anyone else having the same feelings as I had, please have all the confidence in the wonderful staff in Eden Ward. They are so kind and caring and I was home the next day feeling on top of the world. So, may I wish all the best to all of you about to go through the procedures. You are in very good hands.

It is wonderful that the team made you feel like you were in safe hands, and I am sure this would make their day reading your kind comments. A massive congratulations to you for going through with your procedure as I can imagine this may have created a few nerves, however I am glad the team in Eden Ward were there for you for support. 7. Review titled Everything was explained and aftercare was brilliant

    by liberatormm49 - Posted on 16 November 2023

I would like to thank the oral surgery team who treated me recently. They were very reassuring, put me at ease and told me what was happening at each stage of my tooth extraction. I am a staff member and now I know what it feels like to be a patient! Everything was explained and aftercare was brilliant. What could have been better... a nice cup of tea, but this I knew was unrealistic as hot beverages are to be avoided straight after a tooth extraction. Thank you!

Dear Liberatormm49, It was lovely to read your super feedback about the care you received from our Oral Surgery team following your recent extraction. Thank you so much for taking the time to share it. I am glad your experience of taking the 'patient' role rather than the 'staff' role was a positive one. I will pass on what you have shared with the team, so many thanks again for your feedback. Best wishes Vanessa Hitchman Deputy Sister

  8. Review titled Absolutely fantastic care from the whole department

    by puppisjm48 - Posted on 09 November 2023

My teenage daughter required surgery to remove and impacted canine, plus some other teeth so she can have a brace fitted. We attended the oral, facial and orthodontic unit at RCHT. The staff were absolutely amazing, from the welcoming member of staff who booked us in, to the nurse, Dr, anaesthetist and the recovery team. My daughter became distressed when she had to go in and be put under needs and I felt that she was in a very safe hands. She woke up a little bit feisty! So I thank the recovery team for looking after her so well when she was coming around with her punchy little hands and being so kind to her! Absolutely fantastic care from the whole department and a credit to RCHT and the NHS. My only complaint is due to someone coming in from another department asking if they had any saline whilst wearing a fetching pair of blue examination gloves. They then wandered around still wearing the gloves before leaving to go back to their area, blue gloves still firmly in place. I feel a gentle nudge in the direction of the infection control policies wouldn't go amiss.

Dear puppisjm48, Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to provide us with feedback following your recent visit to our department with your daughter. I am so glad your daughter was made to feel welcome and that she was well taken care of. I will be sure to pass on your kind words to the whole team, they will be delighted. I apologise for the member of staff from another area walking round with their gloves on. I will ask all of my staff to be extra vigilant and of course challenge any individual if this should happen again. Thank you again for providing us with feedback, its greatly appreciated. I hope your daughter makes a speedy recovery. Kind regards Lucie Baker (Unit Sister)

  10. Review titled Excellent emergency care while on holiday in Cornwall

by MS Fire - Posted on 03 November 2023

Having visited my GP at home and local hospital with elbow pain and swelling, my forearm started to swell on holiday. I was advised by 111 and out of hours GP services to go to hospital. In Truro hospital in a busy emergency unit I was booked in, triaged, bloods taken, assessed by a junior doctor and then immediately referred to a consultant. Everybody who cared for me was simply excellent and a credit to the NHS, achieving so much under the pressures we all know about. I was diagnosed with a cellulitis infection.
