  1. Review titled Helped me through a very difficult and intimate procedure

    by Bugmx95 - Posted on 26 October 2023

The nurses and consultant performing the procedure were excellent and immediately put me at ease. They were brilliant in supporting me and helping me through a very difficult and intimate procedure with respect, kindness and humour.

Dear Bugmx95 Thank you for taking the time to leave such positive feedback about our gynaecology team. I am very glad to hear that the team were able to help you through the procedure with such respect and kindness and that they were able to put you at ease. Our teams work hard to try and minimise any worry or anxiety for their patients, and to make them feel as comfortable and informed as possible during such intimate procedures, and they very much appreciate all feedback. I will ensure that your kind words are shared with the team. Thank you again and I hope that you have a positive outcome following your procedure. 2. Review titled Treated well, but waited too long

    by deploymenthb78 - Posted on 09 November 2023

Had to go to eye nurse at Barncoose Hospital. Got seen over four hours later. I don't think there are any excuses for the NHS to make me and so many others wait so long. - The treatment was professional, considerate, warm and comforting. - I was referred to Treliske Hospital for consideration of my eye because of a concern by the nurse. All explained to me! - The appointment at Treliske - eye doctor/nurse was excellent, exactly as I hoped. Thank you for those who helped my eye!

  4. Review titled Great hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sandra Dunmore - Posted on 19 October 2023

I had to call an ambulance on monday the 16th of October because of cardiac symptoms. They arrived quickly and took me to Treliske. I was assessed. ,blood pressure X-ray blood tests etc. Then spent the night in the ambulance. The Paramedics were wonderful and looked after me so well. Then when their shift finished I went into another ambulance with the day shift. I then saw the doctors and they said I could be discharged. Everyone was so kind and caring and I have no complaints at all. Thank you. I had no one to bring me home so transport was arranged and I had a sandwich and cupp in the discharge lounge. ,

Good afternoon Thank you for sharing your story with us. I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you on here. I am pleased to see that you were looked after so well whilst having to stay over night in an ambulance during what must have been a very worrying time for you. It is great that you were able to be discharged after seeing the doctors and that everyone was kind and caring. I am glad that transport was able to be arranged for you and that you were provided with refreshments. I hope that you are recovering well. I'm writing to you as a member of the Patient Experience team but, I will ensure your kind words are shared with the teams involved. Thank you, again, for sharing your story with us. Megan

  5. Review titled I feel like I have been given a precious gift

by Cardio John - Posted on 10 November 2023

I had suffered from double vision for around 20 years and surgery was the final option as everything else had failed. The ward had a relaxed feel and I had the normal checks done by the nurses and then a chat with the anaesthetist and then the surgeon. At all times I was made fully aware of what was going to happen and the possible aftereffects. I remember talking to the ladies giving me the anaesthetic, next thing I was awake with a nurse asking how I was. The operation has been done! I did not have any pain and felt fine but the nursing staff kept watch. The anaesthetist came to see me to ask how I was and it was all good. I was allowed to leave early that afternoon once the nurse had told me about the aftercare I should do and gave me eye drops. All of this was done very calmly and made me feel very relaxed about the whole procedure. I wanted this to be as best as everybody could make it and when I took off my eye patch that night, I immediately could tell, even without glasses that it had worked. The next day was when the full impact became clear, I could see everything as a single image, and I did not have to fight to focus. After all those years I could finally see the world for how it really was. Colours became more vibrant and all I could do was wonder at what I was seeing. The following days were spent resting, plenty of time where I would just close both eyes as it was more comfortable. I was expecting it to be painful but it never happened, stopped taking paracetamol after a couple of days and just waited for the eye to stop weeping. Since then I have felt like I have been given a precious gift, I am still adjusting but it is a most wonderful experience to see just one of everything. I no longer have to imagine the parts I miss or guess what I may be reading or looking at. My cognitive functions have improved immeasurably. I no longer have to fight to understand what is going on and do not have the internal conflict of constantly questioning myself to make sure I have understood what I am doing. In one way I wish it had been done years ago when it was first mentioned but having it done now makes me appreciate the result even more. I do not feel that I can express myself adequately on how this has changed my life (for the good). I no longer get angry, I am sure the fatigue will go away when it is all settled and I feel I can accomplish anything that comes my way. Everybody has played a part in giving me my life back, from the cleaners who keep the wards and theatres clean, to the admin staff doing the appointment bookings, receptionists, orthoptists, nursing staff, surgeon and many more that never came into direct contact with me. All the people I have met in this process have been very professional, never once did I think they were not looking after my best interests.

I have had to have a number of ct scans over the years at Treliske and just wanted to say that the caring services I experienced today in the mobile unit by today’s radiologist was exemplary. Great improvement from the usual brusque treatment.

  8. Review titled I feel like it's absolutely chaotic.

by PumpkinPie - Posted on 16 January 2024

The process of sending patients from the fracture clinic, to X Ray, to casting needs to be reviewed. I feel like it's absolutely chaotic. The first problem was the Consultant arriving 25 mins after our actual appointment was booked for. Secondly, thirdly and fourthly- we were sent to the wrong x ray machine twice, had to walk all the way back to fracture clinic twice and then back to the correct x ray machine twice (the one downstairs) - this is long and tiresome when you're a small kid in pain who has had no sleep. No communication, no apologies, no care taken to arrive at their jobs on time. Just absolute chaos. My final issue was the X Ray department (downstairs) to differentiate between the usual X Ray Dept. The paediatric waiting room was full and overflowing with elderly patients on trolley beds waiting for their X Rays. Several were being intermittently checked whilst we waited. This cannot be normal. Surely if an elderly person falls who is dangerously frail - there needs to be a separate process for these extremely vulnerable people. (E.g. one X Ray room was empty!) The nurses in Fracture Clinic were very good and clearly frustrated too. Back in the 2000s - patients were told to follow a coloured line on the floor. This worked well. Why did it change? It's ridiculous and not very good for people who are in pain, elderly, young or vulnerable. It seems a very shambolic and difficult process to follow that even the staff appear to struggle with. Our appointment was over 4 hours long in the end.

  9. Review titled Colonoscopy!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by James Mundy - Posted on 20 October 2023

From walking in at 7.45 to leaving at 12.30 I was overwhelmed by how lovely the staff in the endoscopy team were, everyone involved in my care today was fantastic and even though the wait was long the staff were so accommodating and made sure everyone was well looked after, constantly checking in and reassuring us all. I’ve had many experiences in hospitals over the years up and down the country and I’ve never found one as wonderful as treliske and that’s all down to the people keeping it going! Thank you for making an uncomfortable procedure so much more bearable x

  10. Review titled Exemplary and quick care for an urgent but not life threatening issue, despite the strike

by CMHT - Posted on 10 October 2023

Called 111 on Tuesday evening, was referred to the out of hours service Out of hours service asked me to come in for a consultation. Out of house clinician was kind and considerate, gave me interim advice and said I needed to be referred to the surgical assessment unit. 10 minutes later he confirmed an appointment for 9am the next morning Attended surgical assessment unit. Excellent care from nurses, registrar and consultant. Surgery was required, and despite it being a strike day, I had the surgery before 5pm and was able to go home that night.
