Review titled Big Thank You
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by KARINA G - Posted on 03 February 2023
For all A&E employees from night shift 2/feb/2023 to day shift 3/feb/2023 Big Thank you for your hard work, for your smile, for your support, for your empathy and for your big heart - Thank you very much, you are amazing, you work very hard, nowadays, when human life is converted into money, and the long waiting time is not your fault, you all go above and beyond !sorry for not writing names but my mental presence was not at a high level :)The pain in my swollen face seems to excuse my lack of memory.Looking at your works, the conviction returns that human life is priceless,it's amazing because you're also people, not machines, and your responsibility is huge.I am writing this to thank you very much,I wish you all the best and that you will finally be appreciated from all sides,I thank and congratulate the director of the hospital in Poole for the good selection of employees-The professionalism and good heart of these employees is priceless. I bow low Kind Regards Karina

Dear Karina Thank you for your kind words of support and understanding. It is so true when you highlight their humanness, as they face the same daily struggles we all do. Yet despite this they carry on bearing the weight and responsibility of looking after other people’s health and wellbeing, in life and death, along with supporting the family and friends of lost loved ones with empathy and compassion. While most of us are tucked up in bed the night shift staff strive to provide the same care and support as the day shift to give constant attention to patients 24/7. Your comment definitely highlights the hard work and dedication they give to the NHS and we thank you for sharing. Regards Patient Experience Team

Review titled Sure Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sean McLean - Posted on 30 January 2023
Admitted to A&E with AF. Very attentive staff. Then transferred to Cardio Acute Ward overnight, and discharged the next day. I would particularly like to thank the day nurse that looked after me. She was extremely professional and caring. I then had a visit from the medical team made me feel a lot more relaxed about my condition and gave me an action plan to go forward with. First class service. Thank you all

Review titled Non functioning a&e
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 December 2022
We visited a&e this evening with our 4 year old after being advised to by 111. When we arrived the waiting time said 5 hours. There were no more than 20 seats in the tiny waiting room, so many people were sitting on the floor or having to stand around. Families had children on their laps and there was hardly any room for pushchairs. Triage was basic and didn't really listen to your concerns about your child, they chose one word from what you had said and wrote that down. The waiting time went up to 7 hours but then back own to 6. After waiting 4 hours we asked if they knew how long it would be. We were told another 3 to 4 hours. We were told that the waiting time when you arrived did not matter. One parents had been waiting 7 hours to be seen and the waiting time when she arrived said 2 and a half hours. There were people in and out in a few minutes but always returning to the waiting room. One child waited over an hour for a prescription on top of the many hours they'd already attended. Outside there were many ambulances waiting as well. This hospital is not equipped to run an a&e successfully.

Dear Anonymous Thank you for sharing your experience with us and sorry to hear it was not a more positive one. Sadly, long waits are becoming more common across the country and we are working hard to find solutions that will counter some of the problems that lead to these delays. As a Trust we recognise this and involved in an extensive remodelling of services that will see a new Emergency Department capable of seeing double the quantity of patients across both our current sites combined. We appreciate this doesn’t change the experience you and your family had, we hope that despite the long wait you did get the correct treatment for your 4-year-old and they are now feeling much better. As I’m sure you are aware Triage is the first step in prioritising a patients medical needs and one or two words may be all that is needed for trained staff to assess that priority, which will unfortunately mean some patients appear to ‘cue jump’ while others are left waiting. Once again we apologise for the delay you experienced and hope any future visits will run more smoothly. Regards Patient Experience Team

Review titled Great endoscopy team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Trevor - Posted on 04 November 2022
Just had an colonoscopy at poole hospital. Have to praise the endoscopy team. My procedure was a hard one as so many polyps. 2.5 hours. I struggled, but the team got me through. Probably saved me a lot of troubles in future. Possibly my life. All detected by the bowel screening program. Great stuff!

From start to finish this service was efficient, offering me appointments quickly, the reception staff were lovely and helpful, the nurse and doctor were informative and had a lovely calm presence, I felt completely looked after including today when I had the minor procedure. They were all so friendly and put me at ease, quick and on time, along with explaining everything really well. Our nhs should be proud of this team. Thankyou

Review titled Exceptional Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sean McLean - Posted on 12 November 2022
I arrived a A&E, after collapsing due to a racing heart beat. It was my first visit to Poole A&E and although I was in some pain, mainly due to falling on my ribs, the team quickly started to deal with my issues and after a few hours I was released. Throughout my stay I found the team to be profession and calm, and I was glad I was in such safe hands. I have left a box of roses chocolates at A&E reception, hopefully the receptionist doesn't eat them all! Thank you all for doing the job you do.
