  1. Review titled Thank you.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband was taken into hospital as an emergency with sepsis and spent 4 days in the Elgar Infection Ward. He was treated quickly and effectively and is making a good recovery. All the staff were thorough, kind and helpful throughout his stay and made a very difficult experience easier than it might have been. We cannot thank them enough.

Dear Sir/Madam, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your husbands recent admission. Firstly I am sorry to hear about his infections but it was heartening to read that he was looked after by the staff on Elgar ward. I appreciate how difficult of a time it would of been for you both. I have shared the feedback with the key ward staff and they have expressed your gratitude for your kind words. I hope that your husband is recovering well and wish you all the best. 3. Review titled Bad specialist

I visited rheumatology department for a 2nd opinion as I was misdiagnosed prior in different hospital. I thought Northwick Park hospital will do better, boy was I wrong. Maybe these short waiting times in comparison to other hospitals are here for a reason... . The rheumatologist I saw didn't give me a chance to explain the symptoms fully, denied possibility of diagnosis because of my age (osteoarthritis isn't old folks disease only), minimised severity of my condition (just because I can bend forward doesn't mean all is good with me) and in the end I received a report stating I have a joint pain. So my diagnosis became 'a symptom'. I came here to find out what was causing my joint pain not to be assured I had a joint pain, I already knew that. I wish medical professionals stop treating their patients like fools. I am educated enough in medical science to understand when someone is telling me porkies and when things don't make sense. I am now back to the begining, no clue what's causing my joint issues.

Face to face gynaecology appointment. I was seen ahead of time by a great doctor who took time to ask questions and listened carefully. I felt so confident in their advice that I went ahead with a mini procedure on the day. The nursing support was also excellent. Skilled, professional, respectful and empathic all round. Thank you.

  7. Review titled Friendly & Caring service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Having had a small accident at home I visited A&E in Northwick Park this morning (08:30). Whist attempting to take the stone out of an avocado fruit and I cut myself resulting in a deep cut and heavy bleeding. I was seen promptly initially and given pain killers. I was dreading a long wait but was seen by a doctor within 2 hours. The A&E doctor was very pleasant, caring & friendly. He examined the cut & went away for further consultation. As he returned he was straight on to treatment/stitching. He had good attention to details throughout, explained well what he was doing and post treatment advice. The whole experience was extremely satisfying and the special thank you to the caring A&E Doctor.

I was therefore very happy to read that you received the best care by one of our A&E Doctors and that you didn’t wait as long as you anticipated to. 8. Review titled Amazing care and staff were phenomenal.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Sarina - Posted on 14 March 2023

I came in on Friday 10th March for a planned surgery for endometriosis and Pelvic Congestion Syndrome. The nurses who got me ready were fantastic, and helped me cover my piercings that I couldn’t remove. We had a bit of a laugh too as they weren’t expecting some of them haha. I went down for my op first due to allergies with latex. The anesthetic dr was amazing, as I was being prepped I suddenly felt very scared and I started to cry. The dr soothed me and wiped my tears and looked after me which I am forever grateful for. When I woke, I was in recovery and the two nurses who took care of me were an absolute joy. I can’t drop names but honestly they were fantastic. I was alert and could laugh and joke with them, they gave me coffee and cookies and some good morphine. We had a few laughs and honestly I feel they deserve a shout out. Please make sure this gets back to them at theatre admissions unit. When I went back to the ward, I was helped to the bathroom as walking was a bit iffy but I was in wonderful hands. All of the ward staff were absolutely amazing and I’m forever thankful for their kindness and compassion. Northwick Park gets some really bad press but its staff can’t be blamed for that, especially when they work so hard to make patient’s comfortable and calm. My drs were absolutely pro. They explained everything and let me feel the news. They showed me and made it clear what the next steps would be and provided me with great clarity to my surgery outcome. Way better than my 1st experience with endo and surgery. Thank you so much and well done for for being awesome at what you do. I have no more words to explain how appreciative I am of the care I received and that is without a doubt the best compliment. I can talk for hours so to leave me speechless is it’s own win. Thank you again staff at theatre admissions unit, Northwick Park. You guys rock.

  9. Review titled Change for visitors with young families

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 March 2023

I have had good experiences on wards and some terrible experiences in Emergency department at Northwick Park hospital. But I need to speak about some changes that would support families to meet their loved ones (taking Covid protocols and guidelines we still have to make some flexible arrangements). I was admitted on and off in the hospital in my pregnancy 2022-2023. My husband and daughter couldn’t see me for longer periods of time as families with children were not allowed to visit which meant I had to make really hard choices and stop breastfeed her. Families with no other support to leave their children with other extended family members had no visitors which made patients feel more isolated. I wish there could have been some flexibility of seeing you little ones and not to worry about how they’ve been doing since you were not around them.

Dear Sir/ Madam, Thank you for your feedback and apologies for the delay in getting back to you. We wanted to ensure a suitable response to your comments were given. Firstly, congratulations on your new addition. The maternity department have responded with the following: We are really sorry for your experience of the visiting policy restrictions; these are currently under review and a relaxation of the sibling restrictions in maternity is envisaged. In hindsight as you were still breastfeeding your other child while an inpatient we should have considered your situation as a special case and found a workaround solution to support your continuation of breastfeeding and individualise your care. We will discuss this with our postnatal leads for reflection. Additionally, in terms of the Trust wide stance on visiting, during Covid-19 pandemic we had restrictions in place aligned to national guidance related to visitor numbers and required mask-wearing, which state under 12-year olds could only visit under exceptional circumstances due to inability to wear required PPE. We will be updating our visiting guidance in March 2023 and this new guidance will take into consideration children visiting. I am sorry again for your experience but thank you for your feedback to alerting us of the issues. Best wishes, Leanne Fernandes - Patient Experience and Engagement Lead
