  1. Review titled Oral and Maxillo-Facial

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Bridgette Perks - Posted on 01 April 2023

Attended the Oral and Maxillo-Facial to have a coronectomy on Friday 31.3.23. 8.30am. From entering the building, seeing the lift notice which brought a smile, onto the receptionists, nursing staff and Dr who performed the procedure I couldn’t have received a more welcoming, kinder or professional service. It was explained what to expect before, during and after surgery and because of this I just knew I was in the best of hands and I felt thoroughly cared for from start to finish. The pain management was excellent during and post, the way they explained each step, happily answering any questions and being made to feel ‘human’ not just a ‘another patient’. The entire experience was one which I cannot fault in any way… No one likes surgery or dentists but I can honestly say the entire team made my experience a thoroughly positive one. Huge thank you guys.

  2. Review titled Very poor

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Andrew clarke - Posted on 13 February 2023

Went for an xray on my hand, couldn't get past the 'receptionist' how can someone who is an admin refuse to send me for an xray telling me I need to see a GP. I saw my GP this morning who specifically told me to go to Mex for an xray. Its a minor injuries clinic. Diabolical customer service. Would not recommend as they clearly want rid of people, funny how it was 30 minutes before closing time

Thank you for sharing with us your recent experience at Montagu Hospital. I am sorry to hear how upset you were with this experience. It is important to note that this clinic only accepts admissions until 8pm, but closes at 9pm - this is so that the team can fully treat the final patient admissions. Perhaps this could be the reason you were turned away. If this was not the situation, I would advise you to contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Team to discuss. You can contact them on: Tel: (01302) 642764 / Freephone: 0800 028 8059 or email: dbth.pals.dbh@nhs.net. Best wishes, Libby

Attended the Urgent Treatment Centre on Sun 26th Feb with a suspected fractured leg. Receptionist was kind, considerate and efficient. All within 30 minutes I was seen by a nurse, had an X-ray and then diagnosed with a fracture. The staff were outstanding, thank you all very much.

  5. Review titled inadequate service!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 January 2023

After checking webiste for services attended, after a fall. To be greeted and spoke to rudely when told the reception staff my presenting complaint and told i would not be seen. I asked if it was a ANP led service to which i was told yes, i asked to speak with one and the ANP refused to come out and speak to me and told the receptionist to say it was against protocol. And go to ED or my GP, i work for the NHS myself and suitibly qualified to deem i did not need to clog up ED for this issue. It is about time the website was updated to problems that ANPs refuse to see/treat! Also i find it discusting as ANPs have passed Apac's module as part of their training which includes MSK that they refuse to treat certain MSK issues. No care or compassion given.

  6. Review titled What is it’s purpose when you get refused & sent to A&E

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 January 2023

Was advised by a nurse friend to visit this department due to illness on a Sunday , when I arrived I was turned away & told to go to A&E they only deal with injury’s yet website says otherwise. This didn’t first time, no wonder people are waiting 11 hours in A&E when these services are empty & turning people away

  7. Review titled Ignored and dismissed

Rated 2 stars out of 5

    by Julie O’Mahoney - Posted on 15 March 2023

brought my son in - suspected glass in a cut in his foot. Was refused to be seen initially until my GP practice told me to return. Was then seen and spoke down to telling me it was a verruca. My som received an xray but me and his Dad were made to feel we were ‘over reacting’ Again told it was a verruca. Months later, after using over the counter verruca treatments my som was still in pain walking. He is 5 and was missing PE at school and playtimes. Spoke to a nurse practitioner at GP practice who said she didn’t believe it to be a verruca and more an infection in his foot. We were prescribed cream. A couple of days later at bath time his Dad noticed something reflecting at the cut - a small chunk of glass! The verruca plasters I had been usimg must have drawn it out. I don’t feel he should have suffered months for this and maybe if I wasn’t dismissed by staff who to be fair, weren’t very polite and spoke down to me like I was over reacting, it could have been resolved a lot sooner!

  9. Review titled An inconvenience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 December 2022

As a retired NHS worker I was shocked when I took a friend to minor Injuries, no compassion from desk staff. Very abruptly told by her you can’t go on the waiting list we have 10 waiting. I said I could not stay, my friend was told if she needed a&e she would have to pay for a taxi. When my friend was upset she accused her of shouting which quite clearly was not true. It wasn’t the content of the information but the abrupt way it was delivered. We were made to feel like an inconvenience. I know it’s a difficult time but a little compassion and kindness and basic customer service skills when dealing with the public. This would help when conveying information.

  10. Review titled Care

by Jennifer Hall - Posted on 30 November 2022

My son (16) was a patient on the Rockingham Unit at Mexborough Montagu for surgery on his knee. From our arrival to our discharge the care was faultless. Every member of staff that was part of our care team were compassionate, warm and caring. The unit was spotless. Nothing was too much trouble, even making me (Mum) cups of tea as a waiting parent while he was in theatre. A fabulous team and a really positive experience.
