  1. Review titled Minor injuries poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 November 2022

After getting a deep cut on my finger, I checked the time of opening hours which was 9pm. Arrived at 810pm, no-one in the waiting room. The receptionist started to book me in then a nurse whispered in her ear and then apologised as I was too late. I pointed out I needed quick attention to ensure the wound was ok but was told to go to A&E or return 12 hours later!!! So they close an hour before stated, I have since read another review from the summer with the same issue but hours have still not changed. I have also since spoken to three nurses (not from minor injuries) who were disgusted at the service and said if they had 50mins before going home and had a patient they wouldn’t refuse treatment. I am extremely angry, no wonder A&E are full when their own colleagues don’t do their own job.

Although last admission for the Minor Injuries Unit is 8pm, as stated on our website, I understand your frustration having arrived only shortly after this time as you would expect to be accommodated. 2. Review titled Totally rude and disgusting service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 September 2022

I was told to attend the Urgent Treatment Centre by my gp's secretary after an accident left me with a wrist injury that was initially mild and didn't need treatment but gradually got worse (hence me seeking help). Well the member of staff was extremely rude at the main desk. Asked me what I was there for, I showed her my wrist with a wrist support on and told her my gp's secretary had sent me. 'Who's put that on?!' Was her snotty question. I told her I've put it on to try and make it feel better. 'And how long has it been like that!?' Again talking down to me. When I told her it was just over a couple of weeks, that was it, it was as though she had just closed the door in my face. 'Well we can't see you here, it's been over two weeks and your gp shouldn't have sent you here, you need either a pink slip to X ray it or go and sit in A&E at dri, I don't make the rules, if you have any issues take it up with your gp.' I said, 'Ok, I did it a week ago then.' She said, 'nope, still can't see you as you told me it was just over two weeks ago you injured it.' After a frank and truthful discussion with this rude lady I left because I just couldn't comprehend the insanity of it all. I called my GP and the same secretary I spoke to earlier was really upset that I'd driven for an hour in rush hour traffic to be spoken to and turned away like that. Of all the years I've been using NHS services, yes sometimes the wait is long, but once you see someone, the standard of care is very good. Never, have I been spoken to like that and I wouldn't speak to anyone like that for no reason. I was disgusted by it. Rules or no rules, there's a correct way to talk to someone in genuine need of help and that isn't it. So, I drove back home (another hour) went and did my night shift in pain, then went straight down to A&E DRI at 6am and was seen by doctor and given a very good service and I'm now on the road to recovery (it still took over 5 hours to be sorted). When I mentioned what had happened at Montagu the reply was, yeah they're sometimes like it. So it's not just me then, they're regularly turning people away! The reason I didn't use any NHS services or go to A&E when I initially hurt my wrist was because I didn't want to add to the strain on the NHS, when I tried all the usual advice on the NHS website and it didn't work, that's when I tried to be seen at Montagu Hospital, then spoken to like that and turned away. It's disgusting. If I'd lied and said I did it yesterday, I'd have been seen no issue, it seems the 'rules' are stupid in that respect especially for genuine cases. Now I know what the 'rules' are there at Montagu, I'll never fall foul of them again. If anyone asks me when did you do it? The answer will be 'yesterday' and then I'll be seen absolutely no issue. And I won't be putting strain on a fully stretched A&E department.....

  3. Review titled Brilliant hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My mum has been a patient on rehab one ward for 2 weeks. She has received excellent care and staff are absolutely brilliant. They have managed to get my 80 year old mum back on her feet and mobile and helped her to get a good level of independence back after breaking her hip. Me and my family cannot thank them enough for all their hard work and dedication. Thank goodness for this brilliant team who have all gone beyond and above to provide excellent care to my mum and all the other patients. Well done rehab one ward 👋❤️
