I arrived at my appointment early at a106. Got seen literally straight away. Friendly staff who were happy to answer questions and explain next steps. Very pleasant and stress free experience!

I would like to praise the two radiologists who carried out my scan who did so efficiently and sensitively with the minimum of discomfort. From the start I felt relaxed and comfortable. They explained the process in advance and at each stage.

  3. Review titled Amazing Experiance

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anamarie Nicholls - Posted on 17 October 2023

I had all my maternity care at Broomfield, the whole experience was amazing. The care given was impeccable and my Induction and Labour was so incredible. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, being my first baby I had no previous experiences of inductions or labour and I was made to feel so comfortable and well taken care of. I cannot give higher praise of the midwife’s who took care of me, my Labour was made to feel so magical and one that I look so positively on which is something that I know a lot of women sadly cannot do. I would return here again, absolutely without a doubt and I can’t thank everyone enough who cared for me and made my stay and delivery experience so wonderful and positive. Thank you, thank you, thank you

  4. Review titled Medical Care was perfect but food let's it down.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 June 2023

It is very disappointing that having been on an upper GI ward the food service was completely unable to cater for the patients. No section on the menu for low fat or zero fat. 99% of the foods had creamy sauces, were red meat, fried, with cheese etc etc, all things that have to be avoided. At a point where you come in incredible pain due to your GI issues the last thing you want is to make them worse. The catering staff that come to take your orders have no knowledge of the dietry information of meals and suggest quite unsuitable foods. Many patients rely on suitable foods being brought into them by family members. If Wetherspoons can provide dietry information why can't Broomfield Hospital?!

  5. Review titled No continuity of care

    by Degail99 - Posted on 07 June 2023

My elderly disabled mother went for an endoscopy at Broomfield hospital. In advance I notified the hospital that she would require a hoist as she was in a wheelchair and unable to stand - let alone walk. I told several nurses, during two calls made to me in advance of the day. Mum also requested sedation, which the consultant agreed to. I also gave mum’s full medical history to a nurse when she rang to request it. I also filled out a form with the same details on it which was given to the hospital. On arrival at the hospital my mother, who is hard of hearing, had to answer all of the medical questions again, despite this all having been done in advance TWICE. The unit was unaware of the need for a hoist and made it seem like an inconvenience to find one. The first hoist, they were unable to use. Eventually they got another and managed to move my mother as required. When it came to the procedure mum had throat spray to numb her throat but no sedation. She said it hurt throughout. The whole experience was unsatisfactory from a patient’s point of view. I just don’t understand what it takes to get information through to the right people! There doesn’t seem to be any continuity.

  6. Review titled Lack of communication

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 July 2023

My son was transferred from Basildon A&E on a Friday got discharged at 8am on Saturday we went to collect him at 11.00am but he was waiting for his discharge and medication. 6 hours later still waiting! on enquiry was told he was waiting for an x-ray! I went to the x-ray dept and made an enquiry his name wasn't on the list! Not sure how long my son would have waited had I not been down myself to enquire! 30 mins later he was called for x-ray. We then waited 2 hours for the results. Nobody seemed to communicate with anybody, I was doing all the chasing (I do work for the NHS) We were finally allowed home at 6pm some 10 hours after he had been told he was being discharged. There was a severe lack of communication between the ward staff and the doctors. Nobody seemed to care or show any interest in my son at all they literally just left him sitting there for 6 hours! Surely at some point the staff would have thought - that chap hasn't had his x-ray yet I better chase it! Or it was the doctor who failed to communicate the request to the ward staff. Either way had I of not done the leg work he would probably still be sitting there!

  7. Review titled Extremely slow

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Roxy - Posted on 28 June 2023

Arrived at a&e at 10:30 pm with a family member suffering heart palpitations and pain through the shoulder blades. 11:00pm an ECG was done, at 3:10am currently still waiting to see a doctor/nurse as my family hasn’t been seen since. It seems like 1 patient goes in every 2 hours. It doesn’t seem like anyone is even in the building there has been so little happening in a&e. I understand the lack of funding causes staff issues and limits the service but we are sitting here wondering whether you have to be on your last breath to get seen or for any communication. I have seen many people leave as it seems like no one will ever see anyone

  8. Review titled Reassurance and professionalism were second to none

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Deborah Allen - Posted on 09 June 2023

The person who booked me in was full of compassion and extremely professional, I will never forget the name which unfortunately I cannot state in my review. This person really put me at ease in a frightening situation and made me feel very safe. The Doctor who saw me was also full of compassion, extremely professional and ensured that I was well informed, in addition to this I felt so listened to as I spoke of my situation, again a name I will always remember. I felt as if I was so very well cared for and that I was important to the team members who dealt with me in A and E and they made me feel that I was in very safe hands. Thank you so very much

  9. Review titled NHS at amazing best

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Claire O’Hara - Posted on 07 May 2023

I am so grateful to all at Broomfield Hospital (and particularly those in the Hand Trauma Clinic and the Mayflower Ward) who treated my son’s flexor sheath infection. The consultant, doctors and nurses were absolutely first rate as was the care on the ward. Thank you so much- you represent our wonderful NHS at its very best.
