  1. Review titled Fantastic staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Kevin Went - Posted on 09 February 2023

Good afternoon, I would just like to send my thanks and appreciation to all of your staff at Lister hospital. I was admitted last November as an emergency in some considerable pain and despite the unbelievable number of people waiting (100+) the staff were attentive, professional and polite throughout. I was sitting for some time near the charge nurses station and could not believe her good humour and organisational skills. Interestingly I noted that this level of politeness had a calming effect on patients some of whom were in considerable distress. Each time a patient thanked a staff member they all without exception said, you are welcome. Having waited around 17 hours in total they eventually managed to find me a bed and cared for me fantastically all the time ,again with humour and professionalism. I have since had an out patients appointment where again I was struck by all of the behaviours previously mentioned. I have no idea how human beings work day after day in what to many would be an intolerable situation and still maintain their professional compusure. We hear a lot about NHS Heroes which in my view is nothing but empty political rhetoric. The simple truth is we should all support the precious resource of the NHS, the staff in particular but also the fabric of the infrastructure and fund this appropriately. Once again thanks to all. You are a beacon of humanity in a strange world. Regards Kevin Went

  2. Review titled Where do I start….

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Luke Mansell-baker - Posted on 20 November 2022

Our little boy was recently admitted to lister hospital after falling very poorly. From start to finish we received such good care and treatment from all members of staff we encountered. the children’s a+e was packed and struggling with the volume of patients while we was there, I feel sorry for the staff as they were over run and in the firing line of impatient stressed parents even though it’s clear they were doing the best they could. Everyone made sure both my partner and I were ok during the whole process and well catered for. As for the health care I can honestly say I don’t think we could ask for a better service then we experienced, the whole medical team involved left no stones unturned to find out what was wrong with our son and how to move forward with his care. Everyone came across very genuine and concerned for our boy and that was of great comfort to us. We can’t thank everyone working with or in the bluebell ward for everything. Every member is a true credit to the Nhs and should be valued in the highest regard. The only thing I would say is the room needs a bit of an update. It’s not really child friendly or in great condition, especially if the stay is prolonged for any amount of time. This does not reflect on any of the staff in any shape or form. Once again we thank all involved in the caring of our son and supporting him back to health

  4. Review titled The birth of my baby daughter

Rated 4 stars out of 5

The care I received back in October from the maternity services was great! I was admitted to the consultant led unit on the 27.10.22 as I had gone into labour. Even though I had multiple midwives during my labour, each and everyone was kind, reassuring and competent! My labour was complicated by an infection which was rapidly picked up on and I was treated accordingly! I was admitted to Gloucester ward the following day. All the staff were friendly and the food was fab! Overall my experience was a good one! I can see how understaffed and over worked everyone is. All I know is they prioritise care where needed and do their very best! Keep up the hard work and thank you for bringing my baby daughter into the world safely! I will never forget it!

  6. Review titled A&E Experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Harry Ward - Posted on 01 November 2022

Following a medical emergency on early morning of Saturday 8th, my experience both with the care given by the ambulance Paramedics at home and then at Lister A&E was excellent. The two A&E doctors diagnosed the problem following X-ray and blood tests, I was then discharged with antibiotics. OK there were waits in the ambulance and for blood test results, but with the background of NHS funding & staffing problems, my experience of the care given generally was excellent.

  7. Review titled Unbelievable

Rated 1 star out of 5

I recently visited a relative on the Barley Ward multiple times. I was shocked to hear some staff chatting away in front of other staff, patients and relatives in their own language on the ward. This happened multiple times I was there! This is not acceptable. It is rude and can make people anxious or paranoid

  8. Review titled Poor people skills

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Sandra Dawn Roberts - Posted on 06 December 2022

Very mixed experiences with the cardiology dept. My cardiac mri was horrendous I was told off quite bluntly for moving I didn't realise I was! And I felt dreadful afterwards but there was no aftercare and I left feeling dizzy and unwell. Angiogram went better very efficient. But I feel that I have these tests with not much follow up! Being told in a corridor that I have a life changing condition and then a consultant rang me unexpectedly to discuss mri leaving me confused and no contact details to get advice from. In fact the bhf have helped me more!!

  9. Review titled Fantastic service from Childrens A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alex - Posted on 05 October 2022

I took my 2 year old child into A&E for breathing difficulties. She was seen by a nurse immediately and by a doctor within the hour. Given medicine and regularly checked on by multiple staff members. The best service I’ve ever had at this hospital although they are always fantastic with children

  10. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 October 2022

Today I received a letter regarding the results of my test. On the letter it tells me it was dictated on the 10th of October, the next working day after my test. The letter is dated the 18th of October and it arrived 4 days later. The letter contains acronyms that I do not understand and is misleading or ambiguous. The contact phone number just rings out. Why did it take 8 days from the letter being dictated to it being written in hard copy? Why was I not emailed? And if it has taken 8 days from dictation to being written up why was it not edited to be unambiguous and avoid unnecessary jargon?
