  1. Review titled Poor experience in A & E

    by Conkk87 - Posted on 26 January 2023

I was in Lincoln A&E with a high temperature. My mum who had come with me continuously asked the nurses for paracetamol to bring down my temperature and she was told to ask someone else or it was not their problem. I feel this contributed to me having a seizure on the floor. The nurses continuously walked past me. It took a receptionist to attend to me and get the nurses attention. They then informed my mum that they had requested paracetamol for me 3 hours prior to avoid this. The nurses and receptionist then begun arguing in front of everyone and the nurse asked how this would look on them. There seemed to be an absolute disregard for me and they appeared more bothered about their reputation. It was a horrific experience.

  2. Review titled Waiting for a long time

    by greensd46 - Posted on 16 January 2023

Although the staff were very nice the process is broken. It took me 28 hours before a bed was finally found for me. The A&E waiting not very comfortable and not good for waiting a long time. The chairs have low backs so you have nothing to rest against.

Dear greensd46 I would like to thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns. I am pleased to hear that you found the nursing staff to be nice., however I am sorry you had to wait for over 24 hours in the Emergency Department. Unfortunately, due to operational pressures the long delays are out of the Emergency department’s control. We are currently waiting more recliners chairs to be delivered and we are looking into purchasing some chairs with higher backs for the chairs for treatment areas. If you would like to discuss anything further, please do not hesitate to contact me. Many Thanks Amy Morgan Interim Matron Lincoln Emergency Department

  3. Review titled Dedicated and caring staff

    by Rappers72 - Posted on 26 January 2023

I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 2006 and was treated by a brilliant team at United Lincoln Hospital. I was fortunate enough to have my situation diagnosed promptly by my GP and immediate attention at the hospital. I have had regular visits over the years to review. Recently have had to have less threatening basal carcinoma removed from my face and again the dedication and care from all staff has been beyond what one could expect from under pressure staff. They should be proud of their care and I hope it wont belong before they have their rewards with a fair pay settlement.

  4. Review titled Caring Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I went with an 84 year old family member by ambulance at 7pm. I was allowed to stay with them the whole 10 hours until being put on a ward. We can't thank all the staff enough, for their caring, informative and attentive behaviour. I, at 62 years old was given a chair and water. Information was given thoroughly by each staff member who attended, about procedures, x-rays, pain relief, parking etc. I was shown x-rays of the broken hip and given explanations about further action. It made the whole traumatic time, so much easier for us. You couldn't have done more for us!

  5. Review titled Impressive service!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Christine Hughes - Posted on 13 January 2023

I was called back to the breast clinic after a mammogram showed up a lump yesterday and the service was second to none. The service was fast, kind and personal and reassuring. The staff were all so caring and made me feel full of confidence in their skills. It made what could have been a difficult day into something I felt I could cope with well. I'm very grateful. It simply couldn't have been a better experience. I'm proud of the NHS service at the Lincoln Hospital Breast clinic and this clinic need to be proud of themselves.

  6. Review titled postal service for an outpatient department appointment

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Christine Slack - Posted on 08 December 2022

My husband received an appointment from haematology today, The 8th December for the 6th December, which is two days ago. The letter was dated 28th November and marked 1st class. Thus the appointment was wasted. I have tried to phone the line 01522573753 to rearrange this, and have been told that I am number 1 in the queue, but am still waiting for someone to answer the phone after 25 minutes. This is such a waste of time and money for the NHS. There is obviously no-one manning this phone line during this period of the day, ie 1-1.30 pm. I have given up trying to rearrange the appointment and he will now no doubt receive a letter telling me that he has missed an appointment and how much money he has wasted when none of this is his fault. Why can appointments not be sent out by email?

Please accept my apologies from an Outpatient perspective regarding the appointment letter (if it was sent by our team). Our usual policy is to telephone patients who have an appointment booked within one week, in addition to a physical letter posted first class. During the Royal Mail strikes this is extended to two weeks, in addition to a first class letter, which it seems may not have happened in this instance. Regarding the telephone call to 01522 573753, unfortunately this is the direct number for Haematology, not an Outpatient number so unfortunately I am unable to advise regarding this. Many thanks, Laura

  7. Review titled Lincoln nhs trust poor experience

    by saturnhq77 - Posted on 03 March 2023

Went to a+e after severe headaches on and off for a month then sickness for 24 hours . Called doctors surgery given voice consultation told to go to a+e did so 6pm. After bloods and a ct scan was told by doctor I needed a mri scan as my first scan showed a gland missing. After 30 hours and not wanting another night in a+e the medical consultant saw me and asked me to stay as the original mri was declined by radiology consultant, he had applied again and a different consultant agreed with him . I was disappointed with Radiology consultant and by this part of the care. This was really difficult. Went onto a ward eventually and was led to believe a mri next morning. This never came I was given a lumbar puncture on Thursday and Friday at 4.30 after threatening to leave I was given a mri the results came too late for me to go home Christmas Eve. Then doctor came said I needed blood work but had to be done 9 am then I could go. In the meantime the staff on ward were great but we had a gentleman who had a stroke 5 months before and whom was re admitted. He was constantly on buzzer and very loudly shouting for help even when staff had asked him what was wrong . Every time we tried to cool the room which was boiling he made them shut the windows, another patient was complaining of the heat to and caught a cough which he gave to me. Unfortunately I coughed so badly I’ve sprained muscles between ribs and can feel one is broken .it moves wand ticks when I breath but not normal. I believe the gentleman should have been in a room with others who needed constant help allowing us to sleep and get well. The staff tried and found me fan which did cool my section of room eventually but by then was in more pain from ribs than the headaches themselves which I still have.

by Fatcat - Posted on 22 December 2022

I had a cancer appointment at Lincoln hospital. I drove 1 hour 20 mins to get there and had the day off work, to be told it was a phone appointment not a face to face, and then to be told the wrong letter had been sent out to me. I wasn’t a happy person

  9. Review titled Amazing staff and amazing care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rosellen - Posted on 21 December 2022

I cannot thank the maternity staff at this hospital enough, those working in the Nettleham Ward and Labour Ward gave me outstanding care. My partner passed away before I gave birth and the staff at this hospital made sure I had my own room and were so kind and considerate during my 5 day stay. I was induced and although in obvious discomfort and pain the staff kept me informed and looked after me so well, I ended up having a c section and this was done professionally with upmost respect and care. I honestly cannot thank these wards enough, each and every person I came in contact with made me feel so comfortable and they were just so kind! Highly recommend Lincoln Maternity Department, they are rushed off their feet, work long shifts and still manage to provide outstanding care. I was really scared and devastated to be experiencing birth without my partner and these ladies and gentleman made it a comfortable experience and I will always be grateful. Thank you.

  10. Review titled Radioactive Iodine Treatment

    by Flower12 - Posted on 29 December 2022

I had my RAI treatment last week and everything was fine, I was well cared for, and the staff were lovely. I did however have a couple of blips, although nothing serious. The first was sitting in the wrong waiting room for an hour and the staff not knowing I was there, even though I checked in with Reception. Apparently I was in the wrong place (Radiotherapy Waiting Room) but the Waddington Suite was accessed through a door which needed a Security Code to get in and no Reception Area, so it was confusing. Maybe I should have gone to the main entrance of the hospital, I am not sure, I just went to the area where I had received my Thyrogen injections on the Monday and Tuesday and the Radiotherapy Waiting Room was next to it. The driver on Tuesday said that was where I would need to be on the Wednesday. My room was comfortable and I was made welcome and my treatment was administered in a reassuring way, and I was asked on several occasions if there was anything I needed to just phone and ask, as I was would be in isolation for 2 days. I was asked what meals I would like to book on the first day and chose my options. My meal arrived for lunchtime, but my meal at tea time never arrived. I didn't know what time to expect it so waited and waited and eventually rang to ask where it was. I received an apology as I had been forgotten in the change over of staff, but I did receive a sandwich and a dessert, but had been looking forward to a Tuna Sandwich (following my LID diet for 2 weeks) and a salad which I didn't get. It was fine though and as an apology I was brought a box of Cup o Soups, and some cereal and biscuits. There were several boxes of Cereal and biscuits already in the room, nevertheless I was grateful. The following day was fine and I received toast for breakfast and my lunch and tea arrived. On the Friday I had to go for a scan at 9:00 am and was due to go home later (Staff notified TASL that I would be ready from 11:00 am). I missed toast that day as I was having a scan. It got to nearer lunch time and no transport arrived, so I received a call in my room asking if I would like lunch. I refused thinking transport would turn up. It didn't. Several staff asked if I was ok, I was getting fed up as the afternoon went on and no sign of transport and 2 or 3 different nurses said they would chase up for me, but couldn't get a definite idea of what time I would be picked up. So I was asked if I would like some tea. I said yes because I was hungry by this time only having had cereal and biscuits all day, and a Cup o Soup which had thankfully been given to me as mentioned. However tea never turned up, so I again rang to ask if they had forgotten me. They had. I ended up with a ham sandwich and a yogurt which was appreciated, but wondered what the problem was and why I was being forgotten. By the time it got to 6:00 pm I was almost in tears, wanting to get home for Christmas and not being given any indication as to why my transport hadn't arrived. At last a lovely Nnrse sorted out some transport for me and I ended up being taken home around 6:30 pm in an ambulance. I know how hard the NHS are working and how stressful things must be and didn't want to complain, but I think being in isolation for 2 days is hard enough without being forgotten when meals are expected. Apart from that the only other tiny complaints are that the CD player has been moved from the windowsill where the nearest socket is, so couldn't be plugged in or used. I wasn't bothered as I didn't take any CDs in with me. The remote control for the TV was missing, and it was the second day before I found out that the DVDs went into the back of the TV, and the CD player was not a DVD/CD player as I had thought it was. Without a remote though and needing to constantly go to the loo to flush out the radioiodine I wouldn't be able to stop the DVD so didn't bother using it. I also couldn't get any subtitles with not having a remote control, and I couldn't hear the TV as well as I would have liked to pass the time on due to my hearing deteriorating; I didn't take hearing aids in with me as I don't use them all the time. Sorry for the rant but I just wonder if it can help the next person in isolation, I should say something.

Dear Flower12 Thank you for providing your feedback following your experience while having your RAI treatment at Lincoln hospital. We apologise for the 'blips' and want to reassure you that we have noted these and are addressing these as follows. The radiation supervisors made aware of the miscommunication about where patients should go. Regarding missed meals, we have now started to remind all staff at huddles when we have a room 8 patient admitted. We also have a sign in the kitchen when we have room 8 patients in the room. We have added this issue to feedback Friday and also shared the feedback with all staff via a private group email. I have ordered a replacement remote control for the TV. We are retraining all staff on the theory and practical aspects to room 8 patients. Thanks so much Kat
