  1. Review titled Me being in hospital and catching Covid

    by Mary01 - Posted on 17 February 2023

20 hours in A&E (understand why, no problem) then when admitted told I needed an MRI and moved to a ward!! Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday (nothing happened!!) using up a bed that someone could of used (felt unwell Tuesday!!) On Wednesday filled in a form and sent for an MRI then asked 4 times for a Covid test!!! Yes you guessed it, I have Covid, after 2.5 years of not even a cold!!! Then put in a single room for 3 hours and told I was being discharged (no doctor came to see me, all I got was my discharge paper and goodbye). I am upset about getting Covid. I feel very very poorly. I was supposed to be going to visit my daughter for her birthday and now I can’t !!!

  2. Review titled Swift action from GP

by Dfidz - Posted on 18 February 2023

Had a weeping infected cyst on my back went online to ask my GP, stating the problem. My surgery rang me with an appointment. When the doctor saw the problem she was on the phone straight away to the hospital when she came off the phone she said go to the Emergency Assessment Unit (SEAU) ward at the hospital and said they were expecting me. I had an assessment within a few minutes and then they had a bed I was put on an intravenous antibiotic drip straight away operated on next day and allowed home that evening with aftercare in place with nurses at GP clinic

Dear Dfidz Thank you for taking the time to feed back the experience you have had within our care on SEAU, it has been really positive to share your experience with my team. It is also positive to read that in this current climate of pressures within our NHS service, the care you received has been successful and in a timely manner that ensured you were home to recover as quickly as possible. Thank you again and I hope you continue with a speedy recovery. Adele Bogg

  3. Review titled Treated very well

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Maria - Posted on 10 February 2023

I had to attend a&e on Thursday evening and all the staff, nurses, doctors, and porter treated me with great care and compassion. Six hours later I was in a bed in saeu, where again I was treated with care and compassion. All the nurses and doctors were very busy, but never to busy to be there if you needed them and put you at ease when the tears come. A big thank you to you all for looking after me and being so friendly and caring.

  4. Review titled Oblivious to the real needs of patients

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 February 2023

I am currently a patient on a ward. While the staff seem competent when carrying out task, meds, blood pressure, temp and feeding. They don’t seem to listen not just me but other patients as well. They treat you as though we’re simple and I am talking about perfectly sane and intelligent as well as dementia patients. But one of the worse things is they are oblivious to the button to call a nurse they take roughly 30 minuets to answer and often never answer. I am talking mostly about other patient experience that I have witnessed sometimes they are never answered or only when brought to their attention by another patient, the buzzing sound seems like background noise to the staff which they just ignore. While I know they are doing a very difficult job in very difficult circumstances they just need to take time to listen to the patients. I have even been lied to just to placate me and I wasn’t being difficult I hardly make any request and have only used my bell once. I was simply trying to ascertain what was going to happen to me.

  6. Review titled Is there an alternative to carb-heavy hospital food?

by Ketogirl - Posted on 15 February 2023

I was admitted to SAL for surgery - lipomodelling following reconstruction after breast cancer. As it was only planned for day surgery I knew I wouldn't be eating much but in preparation took some cheese/nuts as I follow a keto/low carb way of eating. Unfortunately I ended up staying on the ward until late that evening and overnight on Branston - no issue with that as a minor complication occurred. The part I find most frustrating is the complete inability to provide food that is not carb heavy - the hospital menu is proof of this. I was offered toast/sandwich or yoghurt on SAL neither of which I eat but felt that toast was the only option. Again the next morning toast and cereal are the only available option for breakfast. I'm not sure if you provide a different menu for diabetics but there is overwhelming evidence that a low(er) carb lifestyle is one of the best ways to control blood sugars and ultimately the potential for remission of type 2 diabetes. I'm am not a diabetic but on asking if there were alternatives I was not offered anything else. I appreciate individual needs cannot always be met but would be very interested to know if there are plans to address these issues.

Dear Ketogirl Our patient menu is designed with the support of the Trust dietitians and approved by them prior to introducing. We offer a full range of hot and cold meals along with our alternative menus to try and meet all patient needs. There are items that the wards purchase themselves such as all the breakfast items and snack items that can be eaten during the day. We also offer the option of small medium and large portions. The ward staff serve the meals from an hostess trolley system which allows the nursing staff to help promote food and manage our patients diets and any special requirement. From the national surveys that are conducted each year. Our food always scores really high, compared to other Trust around the country. If patient whilst during their stay need any support in relation the food offers. Then our Catering leads and dietitians are more than happy to meet the patient to discuss in more detail any concerns or requirements they may have. Thanks Wayne

Your instructions and signs for finding the mobile breast screening unit are terrible and not in any way helpful as for most people it is a very nerve racking thing to have to do anyway and arriving stressed due to not being able to find it makes the experience 10times worse so I ask for all of us please make it easier to find many thanks

  9. Review titled They couldn't do enough for me

    by humanitiesfx99 - Posted on 01 February 2023

I cut through my chin, lip and nose with a blade whilst completing DIY. Unfortunately I didn’t get anybody's name as I think I was in shock. I have to say it was the best hospital experience I've ever had at both Grantham and Lincoln hospital. The doctors and nurses and the reception staff in Grantham A&E and Lincoln Maxillofacial clinic 9 were genuinely really caring and just wanted to help. I was in a right state and very upset and they just couldn’t do enough for me.
