  1. Review titled Amazing Paramedics! Thank you!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ruth Johnson - Posted on 15 April 2023

Thank you to the two East Mids Ambulance Paramedics who attended an incident with my father on the evening of March 26th, 2023 and took him to Lincoln County Hospital. They were two incredible women who made what was a scary and upsetting situation so much easier to handle. They were calm, practical and easy to chat to. It means the world that they were with me and me mum, that night. Thank you!

After gaining phone number for Cardiology dept. from appoointments. Rang 01522-573823 - told I'm in a queue waiting time 11 mins. This went down, to 7 mins. then phone cut off. Tried again, number engaged, tried again, number rang and rang then loud noise and phone cut off. Did this 3 times and gave up. Is there anyone in that dept. ?! or is the phone system broken? this is chasing appointment for an Echo cardio gram since 8 February last year ! No appointment yet !

  3. Review titled The medical care has been superb but the administration side of things feels completed outdated

    by woodpeckerhm96 - Posted on 06 March 2023

I was invited to make an appointment for a routine mammogram which I did. This was cancelled the day before due to staff illness. I asked to make another and specifically requested a phone call or email rather than a letter and was told my communication preferences had been changed so that I would be phoned with the offer of a date. However, I was sent a letter inviting me to an appointment I couldn't keep. On the third time of trying I had my appointment. Once there, my experience was excellent. A week later I received a letter inviting me to a recall appointment a week later. I attended this and, again, my experience was extremely positive with very caring, attentive and professional staff who explained every step of the process. On this occasion both administration and healthcare worked very well. I was invited for a biopsy a week later and was told that within a fortnight I would be discharged or would be able to discuss my treatment plan, if one were needed. However, the day before the biopsy was scheduled, I had a call to say that the mammography unit was broken and my appointment needed to be postponed but should be within a few days. I heard nothing so rang several times, always to be told that it should be fixed soon and that my name was at the top of the list. Apparently it took two weeks to fix the unit and then my appointment was three weeks after that meaning 5 weeks after my original appointment date. Once more, I was extremely disappointed with the administration. And when I arrived for the biopsy another machine wasn't working although, thankfully, they did manage to get it started again so my appointment was only an hour late, not 5 weeks this time. And once again, I have nothing but praise for the wonderful staff who took care of me before, during and after the procedure. I was also relieved that I was given a date on that day to come back for my results. Yesterday, I had that meeting. It was early, the consultant was friendly and explained everything to me clearly and I was very relieved that my results were benign and I can be discharged. My concern through all this has been the administration. I have had appointments cancelled very last minute, been contacted by letter when I had been assured I would be contacted by phone and, when I have rung myself, I sometimes believe that the person I am talking to cannot actually give me any useful information. Not only is this frustrating as a patient but it is surely a terrible waste of precious NHS resources. The medical care has been superb but the administration side of things feels completed outdated and not up to the task of supporting an NHS for the 21st century.

Dear woodpeckerhm96 Due to staff illness we had to cancel your appointment on the day of the clinic. It is our usual practice to inform the clients that a further appointment will be sent by post, however, you made a request to be phoned at a later date to discuss rebooking. I can only apologise that our administration team did not act upon your wishes. I will be discussing this with the team to ensure this does not happen again and that specific requests are acted upon. Following your recall a biopsy was required but sadly the procedure was cancelled the day before due to equipment breakdown. We had hoped to rebook appointments within a few days. Unfortunately, we experienced a longer than usual period of breakdown, the acquisition of a new part for the machine was required and unfortunately this took longer than we expected. In fact, we had to wait for the part to come from America. Once again we had hoped to rebook as soon as possible but we were not able to do so due to a number of reasons, available capacity and staff availability. We will, of course, discuss these events at our team meeting with the view to agree the areas of improvement that are required, for example, clear communication to the patient by core members of the team who will be knowledgeable of the circumstances. We shall also review the time it took to rebook your procedure to determine the cause of the delay and what improvements we can make in the future to ensure delays are kept to a minimum. Once again please accept our apologies. Kind regards Alysa Alysa H Page Breast Services Operational Manager

  4. Review titled Excellent patient experience - Autism

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jody Clark - Posted on 15 March 2023

I attended an appointment with my 16 yr old, autistic Son. It was for Paediatric Cardiology and he was having an Echo scan. The Consultant was very impressive, he spoke to my Son clearly, explaining what he was doing and seeing. Gave my Son a lot of reassurance and he felt very relieved when we left. It took just over 1 hour and was very pleased with the service and experience. You have an excellent Consultant. Thank you so much!

  5. Review titled Treated with respect and professionalism

by Alfinlincolnshire - Posted on 13 March 2023

Went into Lincoln hospital to have a pacemaker/ defib fitted. From the moment I entered Lincoln county hospital I was treated with respect and professionalism. All the staff in the operating theatre and in the recovery room were first class and couldn’t have done a better job in my opinion. I am now at home recovering and feel ok. Well done to everybody concerned and thank you.

  6. Review titled All felt efficient and effortless

by JLMF - Posted on 02 March 2023

All of the team were excellent. I was first of the day and everyone was cheery, confident and put me at ease. All felt efficient and effortless. I was offered food and drinks and I was monitored closely while coming round and up to being discharged. I was given clear discharge instructions and everyone I encountered made a very anxious patient have a really pleasant experience. Thank you! My only tiny niggle is that both the bulb in the lamp and the light bulb above my bay didn't work so it was a little bit miserable waiting in a darkened space but a very minor issue.

Dear JLMF Thank you for taking the time to feed back the experience you have had within our care on SEAU, it has been really positive to share your experience with my team. It is also positive to read that in this current climate of pressures within our NHS service, the care you received has been successful and in a timely manner that ensured you were home to recover as quickly as possible. Please be assured I have been around the unit and reported all bed-spaces where bulbs need replacing, we have added this to our weekly checklist. Thank you again and I hope you continue with a speedy recovery. Kind regards Adele Bogg Ward Sister

  7. Review titled Better housekeeping care needed

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 February 2023

After 11 hours in total some in the utc and then in a&e there are a few concerns. I cannot fault the care by the Doctors which was first class. My elderly mother was seen after dislocating her shoulder. The whole 11 hours that we were there, not once was she offered drink. Ok, I was there so I could Get her a drink. What about people who have no one with them?? The water from the dispensers was warm. The hospital has hcsw and volunteers, surely is it possible to at least offer people a drink. The receptionists are rude, god forbid you go to the incorrect window. Better signage is needed for utc and a&e windows.

Thank you for taking the time to post you opinion. I am sorry to hear that your mother’s experience was not a positive one. Unfortunately when patient’s attend the department with complaints that may require sedation/procedures, we are unable to offer nutrition and hydration. I am sorry that this was not explained to your mother at the time of triage. I will ensure that the team are aware to regularly update patients and their family/carers regarding this. 8. Review titled Switchboard time

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 February 2023

Tried a couple of times today, each time I was left in a queue for switchboard to ask which dept I wanted to be put through! Was it because it was lunchtime? I could have driven to the hospital in the time I was kept waiting….half an hour from Lincoln or 25 minutes to get to Grantham. Have all the U.L.Hgot a shared switchboard now? It will cost patients a fortune in phone bills to get past switchboard at this rate!

  9. Review titled Cardiologist rude abrupt and hard to communicate with.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 February 2023

Considering heart problems are worrying its not helpful when cardiologist is hard to understand and shouted and talked over every answer I tried to give extremely upset and distressed after ct scan appointment ! I understand they are pushed and under a lot of stress but where's the compassion patients are stressed and frightened by what's happening to them! If you can't see your putting a patient under stress and duress your in the wrong job.

  10. Review titled Fantastic staff

    by Lunar2021 - Posted on 08 March 2023

An anxious me presented myself (accompanied by husband) to LCH Medical Day Centre. The two ladies responsible for doing the procedure, put me at ease right from the start. The procedure itself was not totally painless and I gladly accepted the offer of gas which really worked well! After the procedure, I was given tea and bikkies and prepared that I might experience pain and a bruise at the procedure site. Well, what a pleasure; NO pain, NO bruise! With these two ladies, I would have the biopsy again, they were fantastic. Thank you
