  1. Review titled Lack of confidentiality

    by puppiscb64 - Posted on 23 May 2023

The Reception team, Midwife and HCAs at the clinic were lovely and I couldn't fault them. However, during my scan a member of staff walked in the room without knocking and proceeded to use the computer in the room during my scan. It felt like a total invasion of my privacy and loss of confidentiality. The sonographer seemed ok with it and I felt unable to advocate for myself. The sonographer and staff member joked between themselves and I felt very uncomfortable.

  2. Review titled Out patient appointment call wasn’t received

    by oscartw53 - Posted on 07 June 2023

I have had two out patient appointments for telephone calls. Both have failed to happen. I have phoned to say they didn’t happen but heard nothing back. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in March 2022 but still haven’t seen a consultant

  3. Review titled Suspected seizure

    by sunfc86 - Posted on 02 June 2023

Ambulance crews, nurses and doctors in A&E first class. I found the telephone appointment with consultant virtually a waste of time. I could have read everything online. The consultant said they would arrange an appointment for an EEG and an MRI scan. It’s over 2 weeks now, does it really take this amount of time to find space in those departments? I have to say that service like this is deserving of criticism. Perhaps someone should ask the consultant why they have been so slow in arranging this appointment.

Dear sunfc86 Thank you for getting in touch. I was pleased to read your comments concerning our Ambulance colleagues from EMAS, as well as the first class treatment in the A&E Dept. I will share this feedback with said teams. This matter has been flagged to me as the Neurology Service Manager, due to your feedback title of suspected seizure. I am sorry you were unhappy with your experience and the timescales since then with awaited tests. I believe you are referring to our SDEC virtual clinic managed by my colleagues in Acute Medicine. If you would like to make contact with me in the first instance so we can discuss further and explore the specifics, so I can coordinate the right people looking into this, that would be most helpful. My contact details are - Michael.foreman@ulh.nhs.uk Kind Regards

I tried to cancel an appointment (for 26th May 2023), but when I was put through to reception at Maxillo Facial Surgery, I simply got the message "no one is available. Try again later". Then I was cut off. Why not be allowed to record a message?

On behalf of ULHT please accept my apologies for the unavailability of a member of staff to answer your call. As we have so many telephone lines coming into the Trust I am unfortunately unable to comment further without the details of the number you called – if you are willing to provide this I would be happy to investigate further and provide a more comprehensive response. With kindest regards. Many thanks, Laura Laura.Kearney@ULH.nhs.uk

    by Shaunx23 - Posted on 16 August 2023

After a routine eye test post catract surgery I found I had a detached retina. This was dealt with in all departments quickly and efficiently with after care back in Lincoln as I live and work here. Shocked to be told what had happened but thankful for efficient treatment. Could have lost sight in right eye

  6. Review titled Unsatisfactory outpatient appointment

    by severityxg85 - Posted on 24 May 2023

I was shown in to room with birthing couch. This was completely impractical for me as I have both mobility and breathing problems. I felt at a loss how I was to get on couch bearing in mind I use a wheelchair and every movement I make causes pain. Dr seemed in a hurry and impatient. Dr called nurse to help get me on to the birthing couch, who was brilliant. The procedure carried out leaving me with bruising around both knees and pain and slight bleeding - normally the procedure is relatively painless and Dr is empathic. After the procedure there was no mention of the test I am meant to undergo or even enquired had I had it yet. Were my notes even read prior to my appointment? In some ways my journey of over 30 minutes I feel was a waste of time. I feel my needs were not met or disregarded, was it possible to change room so I could use a proper couch instead of sustaining bruises from the birthing couch?

  7. Review titled Consultant came across as quite dismissive

    by volanstn86 - Posted on 01 August 2023

My son (& myself) have hEDS -Hypermobility Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - which is a connective tissue disorder. It means my son can dislocate joints & gets pain in his joints. We were sent to orthotics at LCH to help with his knee dislocating. The first consultant we saw was incredibly good at knowing a fair bit about Ehlers Danlos Syndrome & the issues that can arise from having the condition. They looked at my son's knees, ankles, feet & hips & could see there was a problem. They rectified those problems with some orthotics. These were a game changer for him. We've been back twice because my son's grown incredibly quickly, but the last time we were there we saw a new consultant. This consultant was 15 minutes late to the appointment, hadn't read my son's notes, & seemed to have no knowledge of hEDS. It took me being really firm with the consultant to explain why we were there & what we needed from them. His problem is, the orthotics this time aren't helping & he's in a lot of pain. I feel reluctant to return to this consultant because they came across as quite dismissive. My son can't currently do what he normally does because as soon as he starts walking, his ankles, knees & hips cause him agonising, burning pain. I've contacted my GP to find out what I can do.

As there are no patient identifying details I am unable to review the individual circumstances but please accept my sincere apologies on behalf of the ULHT Outpatient department for your wasted journey. Because the clinics were cancelled at relatively short notice to allow for the possibility of the industrial action being called off there was no option of sending a cancellation letter as it would not have been received in time. Therefore our process was to contact all patients by telephone if their appointment was cancelled but unfortunately there were a number of patients we were unable to contact which may have happened in this instance. Again, please accept my apologies and if you would like to provide me with your details I would be happy to look into this further. 9. Review titled Breast scans and biopsies

by Susiesu - Posted on 15 May 2023

I was dealt with rapidly following finding a lump. A letter for a new appt the day after a scan which confirmed something new happening. The staff in Lincoln, were kind, calming and informed me at every stage what I needed to know - couldn’t have done better in any way. We also saw another patient buy a coffee for someone who they didn’t know -just as a sign of support- positive experience during a worrying time. I’m all clear again- but it’s good to know either way. Persuaded a friend to get her first appt too. Thanks you are all amazing!

  10. Review titled Eye Clinic closures

by OldCroc - Posted on 19 April 2023

I attend the Lincoln Hospital Eye Clinic for eye treatment on a regular basis (6 weekly). The clinic (clinic 8) has a small sterile clinic room for the treatment required. For the last year or do this clinic room has been closed as it was deemed unfit for various reasons. The result is that my treatments and those of many other patients have to be undertaken in various other clinics or the main hospital theatres. Recently I have been required to travel to other hospitals including Boston, some 40 miles away, to get my treatment. As I have injections in my eyes I cannot drive to the appointments and have to rely on volunteer drivers to take me. There is a cost to me for this which I fully appreciate. The staff in the eye clinic in the various hospitals are wonderful. However, I cannot help but feel they are hampered in giving the care that they would like to because the sterile clinic is closed thus inconveniencing staff and patients. Apart from having to use other hospitals staff have to walk each patient down to the theatres or other clinic rooms, wait for the procedure to be completed and then walk then back to clinic 8. What a waste of time. I am sure that the inefficiencies in the current procedures would have paid for the refurbishment of many clinic rooms over the last year or so. I am sure the hospital management could do better.

Dear OldCroc The injection room was shut down as it is too small and the ventilation system does not meet the current injection room standards We are in the process of finding a new room to carryout injections and associated finance to convert it. The changes will cost a significant amount of money. The clinical & management team all hope the new injection room will be up and running as soon as possible Regards Chris
