  1. Review titled Simply wonderful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Dionne E - Posted on 11 July 2023

I have attended today with my 5 month old daughter. I felt nervous and apprehensive prior to the appointment. I was greeted by a friendly doctor, who spoke to my daughter, as well as myself. She was kind, informative and explained everything in such detail. She made sure I understood everything she was telling me. She was honest when telling me about the symptoms, side effects and even the period of time we may require treatment for. I felt safe and well informed, she has given me hope and courage and regained my trust with health professionals, regarding my daughter. We have had a lot of negative experience previously with people saying “I don’t know, I’ll pass you onto X, Y and Z” but finally we have the support of a wonderful team of professionals, who made us feel supported and safe. What a wonderful experience we have had today, I already feel hopeful for our next review in a few months time.

We are so glad to hear that our teams made your visit to us with your little girl easier than you had expected….it is such a worry when they need hospital appointments at such a young age, isn’t it? We’ll also make sure that we pass on your lovely feedback to our teams – and especially to the doctor you saw – as it’s always nice to hear that you made a difference to someone. 2. Review titled Wonderful treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jane Woodcock - Posted on 14 July 2023

I needed a replacement prosthesis as I had lost weight. I phoned today, 14th July 2023 at 11am to leave a message. At 1.15 I had a call from the Clinic Nurse offering me an appointment at 3pm this afternoon. I arrived at 2.50 and was greeted by the friendly receptionist who immediately went to tell the staff that I was waiting in Reception. I was greeted immediately by a smiling and friendly Breast Care Nurse. My new prosthesis was chosen from a wide selection, my requirements discussed and it was then fitted. I left within half an hour. Fantastic, friendly and courteous treatment for which I am delighted and thank them sincerely. I am an 80 year old lady who has worn a prosthesis for 41 years now and it is so comforting to find that I am still treated with such care and consideration. Thank you so much for amazing treatment x

  3. Review titled Disappointing lack of contact

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Maurene Morris - Posted on 12 July 2023

A lady with learning disabilities and Epilepsy has, since a medication increase, had multiple health issues likely to be as a result of medication side effects. We have been trying to speak to someone urgently but even ringing between the hours stated repeatedly for the past week has yielded no luck, in excess of 9 attempts daily. Both numbers tried say that it is not possible to leave a message, I'm thinking the box is full. She had a health crisis yesterday and we have to wait for Neurology for assistance. This assistance could prevent a hospital admission. Which is beneficial to not only the lady but the NHS.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience at Lincoln hospital and accept our apologies from the Neurology department. Unfortunately, we have been very short staffed in the past few months due to staff leaving I am still waiting for a member of staff to start, as well as one member who is currently off poorly. I know my staff try to answer the phones as much as possible but the volume we have is incredible like many departments. Patients do have our email contact address and several phone numbers and I would urge patients to use the email address if they are able to do so should they not be able to get in touch. I have spoken to my staff in the past few weeks and we are aware of these issues, but staffing has had a significant impact recently due to sickness/annual leave and staff leaving. I am currently looking into a voicemail system, but this is something that is currently being looked into and logistics of doing this. As we are not an on-call service the first point of contact is the GP in all cases and if the symptoms are severe enough, then A&E but do try to take as many phone calls as possible. Should you wish to contact us urgently, then please contact us on either ulh.tr-neurologysecs.lincoln@nhs.net or 01522 421810 and we will look into this as quickly as possible. Once again, please accept our apologies. Andrew

  4. Review titled Put me at ease immediately

    by Sharon735 - Posted on 01 August 2023

I attended Hemswell Ward for a Colposcopy. The nursing staff were lovely, put me at ease immediately. The procedure was explained in language I understood. Following the procedure I was left with no doubt as to both the result and future events. Thank you for making my experience a good one.

  5. Review titled I don't feel like I was supported

    by Lotzo12 - Posted on 08 August 2023

I was upset before I was put to sleep and was comforted by a lady, which was appreciated. But I woke in a completely different room with different people. I was upset even more after this and confused, wasn’t really settled and kept having different nurses, which was stressful. Told I could go home in two hours. Went to another room and was meant to have a 1-1 nurse, but they kept leaving me and said I could go around 6-6:30. So I told my partner to come for then. Then the 1-1 nurse changed their mind and said 8:30. I had been up all night on a 12-hour shift and been at the doctors since 6:30 waiting for surgery. I was tired and just wanted to go home where I felt safe. I felt the 1-1 nurse wasn't being honest and kept leaving me. Then I asked if my partner could just sit with me before I left. The 1-1 nurse said they'd ask and never did. Then another doctor said I could leave in an hour. So my 1-1 nurse waited till the doctor left to tell the nurse I could leave in an hour, meaning I left later than I should have. This caused a lot of stress and I’m struggling to sleep because of the feeling of being left alone in the hospital and waking up scared of where I am. I thank the nurses and the surgeons I had, but I feel the 1-1 nurse I had was unreliable and some of the nurses should have made more of an effort to support me as I was panicking and crying the whole time. I can say only 4 of the people I met that day helped me and the whole experience has caused a lot of stress since returning home.

  6. Review titled My experience of being admitted to Lincoln county hospital

by Nusancepatiant - Posted on 05 July 2023

I’ve had chest pains on & off for sometime, I tried to get to see my own GP but due to the announcement on the recorded message ( we have a staff shortage at this time please try later) I tried later and on the following day to no avail. On the Wednesday I felt worse with stronger chest pains, at which point I phoned 111 and explained my symptoms, I was told to rest and they would send an ambulance which arrived within 15 minutes. I was fully examined and told I would need to go to hospital, excellent service. The downfall came as my previous text comments when I arrived at Lincoln A&E. Once I arrived on the short stay cardiac ward things improved dramatically with the excellent care by all the nurses on the ward. I was improving up until Friday when I had another very severe chest pains once again the nurses gave excellent care and did so all the following week. My worst experience was total lack of sleep by all the noise from other sick patients shouting out in the night to some of the night nurses talking loudly. Overall an experience I would not like to have again, as once they have you it’s a job to escape, it takes hours to get in and hours to get out, but thankfully I’m still alive to tell the tale, so a big thank you to all concerned look forward to my further recovery at home.

  8. Review titled Consultant Appointment

    by Martin2304 - Posted on 20 July 2023

Over a year from being referred back to see a consultant following on-going pain after Gallbladder surgery, I finally got to see a consultant recently.. I was given at best five minutes, during which time I felt the consultant to be arrogant, unsympathetic and generally made to feel like I was wasting their time. They did say they would book me for a CT scan, but couldn't tell me how long this would be. I explained that I had private health insurance, and if they could send a letter to my GP advising they were requesting a scan, then I could get this booked via the insurance a lot quicker. A week later, I have checked with my GP surgery and they have received nothing - so I can't even make use of the private health care I pay for, because it's evidently too hard to just send a letter. This whole sorry affair has been going on for over three years now, and I feel I have been failed by the NHS at every juncture. From action on initial symptoms to then being un-able to carry out a standard Cholecystectomy, due to the Gallbladder becoming so diseased from the length of time it took to get the surgery. I am now left with an abnormal bulge in my stomach, and having to take painkillers every day for on-going pain. Despite numerous efforts to seek help, no-one seems to care. [Very unhappy with 'Staff attitude'] [Very unhappy with 'Appointments']

  9. Review titled Every member of staff treated me with kindness

    by greensg77 - Posted on 30 June 2023

I attended the hospital for a Cardio Angiogram. From the moment I arrived every member of staff treated me with kindness, care and respect. They were all fantastic ambassadors for LCH and the wider NHS. I could not fault the treatment and aftercare I received. The atmosphere in this busy department was professional and calm which inspired confidence. I would like to express my grateful thanks to the whole team for such a positive experience.

  10. Review titled We were shocked with the rudeness

    by waterpg78 - Posted on 23 June 2023

On a Monday in June I saw my cardiologist after my GP making a referral due to what my heart was doing as it's impacting on my life. The cardiologist was running over 45 mins late and my appointment was the last one of the day. The nursing staff were great I may add, as they appeared to be short staffed. I went in to see my cardiologist around 6:30, we understand running late can't be avoided and we are too polite to mention this. However we found running late had not made the cardiologist happy and both my husband and I found them to be extremely rude. They actually asked why were we there, as there is nothing they can do, but at the same time said it was alarming the number of ectopic beats my heart gives out. My response being my GP made the referral as my cardiology review was over due and correspondence stated if things persisted to contact cardiology. I understand what I have is rare and needs a specialist, but to be told that if you have come today hoping I can help, you've been sent with false pretences. Then to end with saying it's nearly 7 o'clock, I have children and tea waiting for me at home, so goodbye. With their arms folded and nodding towards the door. The cardiologist then slammed the door behind us. Yes, it was late, as it was 18:45 when we got the car park ticket, but it wasn't our fault the cardiologist was running late. We were shocked with the rudeness. People have told us to request to see a different cardiologist, as yet I haven't because I don't like making a fuss. However, there was no excuse for such rudeness. Especially when you go for advice as what my heart is doing is impacting on my life. Felt let down by Lincoln Hospital on this occasion and feel I have lost faith in my cardiologist too.

Dear waterpq78 Thank you for bringing to our attention how your appointment with cardiology team left you shocked and upset. It is distressing for the trust to hear that a patient should feel this way that after a consultation with a member of our clinical team. As a trust we have a set of values that insists on respect for all our patients and staff and it is very disappointing to see that on this occasion we have failed to meet this standard. Please accept my sincere apologies for how this consultation has made your feel. Thank you also for understanding and being so patient with the timings of the clinic which have caused you a longer than usual waiting time at our hospital. If you would like to contact me with exact details of the clinic I will be able to discuss the above issues with the consultant concerned.
