Review titled Thank you to the MRI team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sara - Posted on 10 April 2024
I was so scared of having an MRI because i had a horrible experience a few years ago. But this experience was completely different and i'm so grateful to everyone in the team. I don't know anyone's names but from the lady who checked me in and i signed the forms with; the wonderful nurse who gave me the cannula and explained everything and reassured me before going for the proedure; and the 2 people who actually did the scanning - the were all kind and patient and reassuring. It's a whole new set-up and machine which helped a lot. But it was the staff who made me feel so much better about the whole thing and i can't thank them enough for being so nice to me!

Sleep and respiratory clinic 15 are all absolutely marvellous. I didn't have an appointment but my CPAP machine had broken and they went out of their way to sort this out for me while I waited. A team to be proud of.

Attended appointment in Ophthalmolgy Department to discuss cataract operation. Was seen on time and advised I would need operation in both eyes and would be placed on waiting list. Everything was explained in full in a professional manner

Review titled Cannot praise them enough!
Rated 5 stars out of 5

What wonderful care and people. From the triage nurse to the SDEC nurses, doctors and ancillary staff - all were fantastic! Thank you. We need to pay our NHS staff far more, they deserve it. Let us not lose this fabulous institution. I can only hope the next government affords the NHS the resources and respect it so richly deserves.

Review titled Terrible service
by Michelle bagshae - Posted on 05 May 2024
Having had months of shoulder pain from a fall and suspecting nerve damage its near impossible to get sensible results or treatment. Referral from doctor took months but ultrasound showed nothing. After being left unable to move or get dressed without help on thursday i managed to get to a and e on friday. Waited almost all day to eventually being sent for xray. No broken bones but still in absolute agony. No treatment offered, cant move my arm ,pins and needles etc ,shaking limbs down left side. The outcome is he reffered me to a bone specialist. Need to wait for an appointment but im now 9 months of pain and this does not make sense or seem reasonable. Surely at this point an mri would be sensible, some kind of pain releif etc. I fell on this arm and think the nerve is trapped or damaged but literally can not get any help. Im at the point id take amputation ,its agony. Please tell me what i am meant to do

Review titled Poor practice
Rated 3 stars out of 5

When I was put in the minors department by the paramedic, a nurse called my name after 5 minutes. And I was with my support staff, the nurse was rude. He was saying that he needs to stay with me. She rudely replied I need this patient, not you. So I told the paramedic that I'm not happy that the nurse spoke to me in a rude manner for no reason. I'm here for a reason, not to be spoken to in a rude manner. This actually agitated me, I have a learning disability as well so this isn't helping.

Review titled Excellent care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kerry - Posted on 19 April 2024
I attended A and E after been suffering for a few days with a rash and developed nausea and palpitations. I am usually the type of person just to carry on but felt really unwell. I signed in at reception and within 10 minutes I was having an ECG which showed a fast heartbeat. From there I was reviewed in resus and the majors unit before being sent back down to SDEC. I really can't express how fantastic all the teams were in this process , very empathic , friendly ,informative and proffessional. From SDEC unit I saw a lovely Dr who was very caring and proffessional alongside the healthcare team who looked after me on that unit. A special mention to the fantastic volunteer who was working on the unit keeping all the patients topped up with refreshments and made a special effort to make conversation and make patients feel at ease. Once my test results were back I was moved on to the short stay unit over night the teams again excelled in care dignity and respect and I felt like I was given the most exceptional care. During my time at King's Mill nothing was touch effort all teams were fantastic and I was made to feel like I was definitely given person centered care. I was discharged with medications and follow ups and everything was explained clearly to me. Thank you to all involved.

Review titled Could not have paid for this level of care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gill Woodhouse - Posted on 27 March 2024
I came in following an accident at home. I was admitted into resus where the care team were excellent. Following a series of x-rays, I was informed that I needed surgery to fix the two fractures in my leg. Needless to say I was shocked and very nervous. From being admitted to the post op care on ward 12, I cannot fault this hospital. The care, compassion and dignity I have witnessed over the last few days has been tremendous. All the staff, and I mean all, are truly wonderful. It's so far removed from the headlines in the news this week. This is the NHS at it's very best.
