  2. Review titled Waiting for the music to stop

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 January 2023

Whilst fully appreciating how busy all hospitals are at present, this does not provide an excuse for failing to treat patients with compassion and care. My elderly parent remains in Kettering General Hospital, but each day this week I have needed to play ‘hunt the relative’ as they are moved from ward to ward in the early hours of the morning. We are now on the fifth ward, with the last three moves taking place between 2am and 4am. Not due to any clinical reason, but because my relative is waiting for a community bed, so is no longer ‘owned’ by any speciality. And with each ward move a new person is allocated to oversee the still incomplete discharge plan. Again accepting moves need to happen to facilitate flow, and meet the needs of a wide range of patients, why do the family need to chase around the hospital looking for the relative, when the last ward doesn’t actually know where the person has moved to. Communication with the family in these inadequate circumstances might at least help. And as for the relative, with disturbed nights, and inconsistent care, with no understanding of needs, the fitness to discharge becomes more tenuous day by day. We are waiting for the music to stop each day to find out where our relative has landed. I think this behaviour and lack of respect for patients and their families fully justifies the current CQC assessment - certainly nowhere approaching ‘good’ quality of care.

  3. Review titled Strange practice

This is my first visit at this hospital with certain members of staff devoid of empathy. How can a patient be left in a waiting room with progressively worsening breathing problems on the verge of passing out having to wait more than 2 hours to be seen? Never have I known anything like this. This will be my first and last visit here.

  4. Review titled Amazing experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ellie Dowsett - Posted on 04 February 2023

From labour ward to the delivery suite, Theatres, Rowan ward and the community Midwives. I could not be more grateful at how I was treated when I had my baby on 31/1. Everybody was so kind and caring, what ended up as a traumatic birth was eased immensely by every staff member who attended to my needs, cared for me, my baby and my husband. I will forever be in their debt for helping me deliver such a beautiful boy. Thankyou to every single one of you.

  5. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was taken by ambulance following a consultation with my GP to KGH on 13 December 2022. From the moment I arrived I cannot speak highly enough of the first class treatment I received from all grades of staff, even though they were under tremendous pressure. Following blood tests and chest X-ray and being hooked up to oxygen, I was informed that I would be admitted to hospital. Due to shortage of beds I stayed in A&E for 24 hours, then transferred to Clifford Ward, then eventually arrived on Harrowden C Ward. Once again I must commend the staff on these wards for the first class care I received. I would also like to mention hospital food. One hears so many bad comments about this subject, but I must say that the menu offered was extensive and something to suit everybody's taste, varied with copious portions. I can fully recommend the Omelettes, so thank you Chef! In my opinion restaurant quality.

  9. Review titled Nurses extremely good and caring ,Jr Doctor not good at all

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 January 2023

Taken by ambulance to A and E although I only wanted to see my doctor face to face, Ambulance people said no need to go, but 111 overruled them. Arrived and entered, seen by Nurses , really good. Stabilised and settled. Jr Doctor came and said what they were going to try, then left. Next time I saw him said that Blood Tests came back OK, then the last time he came, he said I could go home without any Medication. At no time did he even try to explain what was wrong. In fact I had to call him over to my bed and ask what was wrong, He begrudgingly said that it was only fluid in my stomach and that it would go away very soon, Now this had been going on for several months so completely wrong diagnosis , all he said was to make an appointment with my doctor so I saw him this morning and has made an appointment for Sdec tomorrow.

  10. Review titled Emergency ectopic surgery

    by Els1985 - Posted on 20 December 2022

After lots of tests and scans for a few weeks it was discovered I was unfortunately having a ectopic pregnancy I had lots of pain and I was so scared going through surgery and the thought of losing a baby and part of my body. The staff in gynae sdec and on maple ward were so kind. And so was all the other staff I came across in gynae. I want to say thank you and you’re all doing an amazing job. I’m still recovering physically and emotionally but I still am grateful.
