Review titled Excellent post op care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Diana howard - Posted on 11 July 2023
Lovely staff on duty May 11 elective post op care Kind caring efficient. Arranged my discharge promptly to avoid an overnight Stay. This was very close to the department closing and not once did I feel rushed or under pressure to go . Staff also arranged prescription that was added on to my already prepared prescription . Thankyou elective care You are wonderful and you are what the NHS is about and should remain about excellent care despite difficult times within adult services . Please convey my thanks to appropriate team on duty

I attended for a CT scan recently, I had a positive and informative experience, the communication from all staff from reception to completion of the CT scan was excellent, with skilled care from the practitioners it was a quick and painless experience.

Review titled Very grateful
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Carly O’Neil - Posted on 09 May 2023
I was seen this morning in the ENT clinic on a 2 week ‘suspected cancer referral’. I was very nervous and had not slept so was not feeling brilliant. I had also had a previous experience as a child with a camera being put up my nose that had been very distressing, and this had added to my nerves. On arrival I needed the toilet and was not sure where I was going. A nurse who happened to be on the corridor immediately stopped and was very friendly, directing me to the clinic and where I’d find a toilet beforehand. Perhaps a simple thing to them but it means a lot when you’re attending somewhere you don’t know and quite nervous. When I arrived at the clinic the staff were friendly and efficient. The consultant I saw was very efficient, but unfortunately told me I needed a camera up my nose and down my throat to my voice box. I panicked when I saw the camera and said I couldn’t do it, becoming quite upset. The consultant was absolutely superb with me. She was so patient and talked me through it all so calmly. She managed to get me to let her do it, and thankfully all was ok. If she had not been as calm and reassuring as she had I don’t think I’d have been able to allow it. In addition to the consultant’s manner of dealing with my fears and distress they explained everything very clearly and I left understanding what was causing my symptoms and the next steps. I should also mention that from the time of my GP referring me and my seeing the consultant today was 10 days, including a bank holiday. What excellent service. Thanks to all

Review titled Brilliant caring nephrology team
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Being looked after by a caring professional team meant everything when my kidneys failed and still does. From the consultants to the nurses to the HCAs, X-ray team, administrators, phlebotomists (sorry if I have missed anyone) all work as a close team. They are amazing I would like to thank each and everyone of this wonderful team that have helped, supported and treated me from the time I learned I was in kidney failure to teaching me how to dialyse myself. Each health care professional always goes above and beyond to help me and my family. I cannot thank them enough.

Wonderful, friendly staff who immediately put me at my ease and talked me through everything that would be happening to me physically. I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks and the staff completely put me at my ease. Cannot thank them enough helping me through what could he been a distressing experience. Feel confident to visit again should the need arise. Thank you so much for all you have done and continue to do for me. Terry xxx

Review titled Urology

Just finished having a biopsy in clinic g (urology department). It was a very good experience in the circumstances. I was well informed about the procedure beforehand. As usual the staff were amazing. The nurse who clerked me in and supervised me throughout, and the care assistant who helped were professional and cheerful even though they were one member of staff down. They put me at my ease, they were caring and concerned, as was the doctor. This is the second time in a month I have been a day case at Aintree and cannot speak highly enough about my experiences.

Review titled Dignified and excellent care

My relative has been on Vic unit for a number of weeks and has just been transfered to Southport. The care they received on the Vic unit was second to none. He was treated with respect, kindness and dignity. He had lots of encouragement during his stay. The units dedication and care has shone through what was an initial traumatic experience. Thank you all so much.

Review titled Great efficient first visit to department
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My partner Attended and was newly diagnosed with RA, he is a very nervous patient so the lengths the nurse went to took to each department, escorted him through and stayed with him. It’s made such an impact on his experience that he would normally dread and be physically anxious about. I don’t think I can mention the nurses name but I’ll be sending her a personal thank you. He’ll be spending quite a bit of time at the department so it’s really appreciated.

Review titled Unsafe.
Rated 1 star out of 5

Attended A and E last Friday evening. A 19 hour wait ensued. Felt poorly with an emergency condition in which I was left. Not offered a bed. I was polite, quietly spoken as was my husband. Staff however by return were, struggling to cope and in my opinion the environment felt unsafe. Smell of ?Cannabis. Which was reported to security. Homeless folk sleeping on seats. Police walking up and down people intoxicated with alcohol and substance misuse, appeared priority.i felt to prevent a breech of peace. When checking with the triage nurse after 19 hour wait, for what may have been a life changing occurrence for me. She told me that some had waited 24 hours. Again I was polite , quietly spoken and respectful in tone and manner. However I felt the nurse was very curt and I did not feel that my health was priority. This is a sad state, if the staff could have imagined how I had ended up at their door they may well have been empathetic. The stress they are under I'm sure is far too much. I felt there were inconsistent approaches by the medical staff. It is very sad, because staff could not follow me up due to their shift ending and hand overs being given. Although I did feel staff worked hard, I felt that they did not keep safe priorities . I also feel managers really need to look further into what can be done with the locality of the social problems coming through the front doors as many were inappropriately using the NHS A and E. This should be stopped. If I did not require urgent treatment, I would have never turned up there. Thank you.
