  1. Review titled Useless!!!!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 January 2023

I asked for the phone call from the doctor to be on a different number as I was in college and couldn’t answer the phone. This was ignored and they called me - I couldn’t answer. The 2nd call it rang once and then cut off, I called the surgery straight away and was basically told - tough you get two calls and that’s it you will need to do another e-consult. This is ridiculous, will need to wait another week to speak with a doctor!!!!

Dear patient Sorry to hear about your recent experience, and thank you for telling us about this. I would suggest you should always ask to speak to a senior member of the team if you experience any issues accessing appointments. We will always do the best we can to re-book and have you dealt with as quick as possible. Unfortunately due to the level of demand and workload for our clinicians, we do operate a policy whereby we will attempt to call patients twice, before asking patients to call us back and reschedule. We do offer online consultations for consults to be conducted by messages and email where this is clinically appropriate and safe. These consultations can be arranged using eConsult, and may suit some patients better than speaking with a clinician directly. Your feedback will be shared with our whole team at our next clinical meeting so we can discuss and explore possible solutions to minimise this type of experience. Kind regards DS

  2. Review titled Latest experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Stan Bamforth - Posted on 04 March 2023

I rang on 5th January and asked for a telephone consult with my named GP, I was given 19th Jan as an appointment. GP rang on that date listened to my issue and promised to refer me to LGI. Just 2 working days later LGI rang with an clinic appointment for 2nd Feb, this unfortunately had to be rearranged to the 16th Feb due to nurses industrial action. I attended the clinic on the 16th and was put on a waiting list for a minor operation, on 20th Feb I was contacted and asked to attend LGI that Friday, 24th Feb. My minor operation to resolve my issue was carried out successfully on that date. I had expected this whole process to take 3 or 4 months, so was very pleasantly surprised with the whole experience.

  4. Review titled Very efficirnt

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Jean Calvert - Posted on 24 January 2023

I have had a few issues with missed calls my fault but when I ring back I have to make an appointment day for a call back not a specific time which would be more helpful because inevitably the phone rings while your in the shower for example. Otherwise i am very happy with the response of my recent issues which have been dealt with as soon as possible

Dear Jean Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and let us know about your recent experience. The way we offer appointments is reviewed regularly, and your comments about the way we conduct telephone appointments will be discussed among the team. May I suggest you submit an eConsult/online consultation and see if that helps? eConsults will allow us to review your query and details of your medical problem (subject to the level of information you provide on the eConsult) and suggest next steps. This can allow for easier access to medical advice from our clinicians, as they can simply send SMS or email advice to you - which might ultimately ask for you to book a face to face appointment, but could equally offer you medical advice via email or text message. I hope this might help provide alternative consultation routes for you and other patients. Kind regards DS

  6. Review titled The Not Prostate Awareness Friendly Practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Jonathan Lewis - Posted on 14 February 2023

Plucked up courage to see a doctor about my Prostate due to friend dying of it and me going to toilet more often. Doctor didn't seem bothered about my stress and didn't do examination or a urine test which a work colleague had straight away when he went to a different surgery. Instead he booked me for a blood test. No one contacted me or gave indication when the results would come. A few days later I noticed a message asking me to contact the surgery. I went in as I was passing and the chap behind reception berated me for not phoning instead of coming in, they then checked my record and said I had high potassium and needed to lower it. When I asked how they replied eat less bananas! But I hadn't been eating bananas. Then I tried booking in 2 weeks later as required but I was away the day before but they wouldn't fit me in any earlier so I had to book it in March so I have loads of stress and a ruined holiday wondering about my results. A few days later I asked if I could at least have a urine test to rule out an infection, the next day a lovely nurse called and after telling her my story she agreed. I gave the sample on Friday morning and it's now 4 days and I have no update. I can't understand how my colleague can see a doctor get an examination and urine test and come out half an hour later with all clear and medication for a urine infection whilst I will be over a month before I get any answers. I feel like the advert about cancer where the guy is walking round with a jack in the box except it was the doctor who gave me the box instead of him opening it and finding nothing inside. Does this Practices doctors understand how difficult it is for most blokes to pluck up the courage and come and see the doctor on something so sensitive. Really poor.

  7. Review titled Could be better

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 January 2023

We visited today for the baby’s 8 week check this Went well and we were in on time however getting the prescriptions needed proved difficult. 1 we couldn’t order over the phone and she has a repeat. 2 the wrong one went to the chemist and to which I called to get it corrected, was informed someone would call back and they haven’t. It’s not too bad if it’s an adult but this is for an 8 week old and the prescription is very much needed

Dear patient Thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear of the issues you've had in getting prescriptions. We don't typically accept prescription requests over the telephone due to accuracy issues which may affect patient safety. We prefer prescriptions to be requested via online services, which is often the quickest and easiest route for many patients. For those who cannot order online, we prefer a request in writing so we can ensure we issue the right medication. I'm sorry that wasn't explained properly to you. I am concerned to hear you weren't called back when promised. I would like to understand why that was the case, so I would encourage you to call and speak to a senior member of our team or email us with more details about this incident so we can investigate the matter fully. Your comments will be shared with our wider team so we can learn from your feedback. Please let us know about your experience next time, and include your name so we can call you back if we need to ask more. Kind regards DS

  8. Review titled Misunderstandings

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I confirmed my face to face appointment with reception prior to my appointment. While I was in the surgery the doctor tried to ring me for a phone appointment. I was kept waiting in the surgery for an hour before reception checked with the doctor on the delay. I had asked twice in that time what the delay was. That was a waste of my time and the doctors, after making unnecessary phone calls to me.

Dear patient Sorry to hear about your recent experience. This is certainly not how your visit to the practice should have gone. Please call the practice or email us at grange.admin@nhs.net so we can find out more about the circumstances and learn from this incident. We will be able to find out who booked your initial call and may also be able to retrieve that call recording to provide 1:1 feedback with the call handler. Sometimes our clinical staff can run behind, but we rely on our receptionists to inform waiting patients of any delays. Your feedback will be shared with the whole team at our next practice meeting and we will explore ways we can improve from your feedback. Kind regards DS

  9. Review titled Massive improvement

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Lucie - Posted on 20 January 2023

Previous years it has been a huge struggle to get an appointment in an acceptable time and reception staff for me personally have either been too intrusive or just not really cared but the last 2 times I have made appointments I cannot fault anything I’ve been able to make face to face appointments within 24 hours. The reception staff I have spoke with have all been friendly and polite. The doctors and nurses have all listened without judgement and not just fobbed me off. My last appointment was with a nurse and she was amazing and I felt comfortable in talking to her about my mental health (not what the appointment was for) and she was so kind and listened like she genuinely cared and wanted to hear what I was rambling on about and I actually came out feeling more positive. The practice seems to be managing much better and I hope it will continue to improve.
