  1. Review titled Repeat prescription

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 May 2023

I requested a repeat prescription of Utrogestan which hadn't been dispensed by the pharmacy. I was informed it had not been sent by the surgery. I attended the surgery and spoke to the receptionist, who was most helpful, I was informed it had been refused by the pharmacist, no documentation stating why. I was slightly annoyed by this. I was advised by the receptionist to contact NHS 111 for an emergency prescription, which I did. I was also given an appointment to speak to the pharmacist. I attended another pharmacy to collect the prescription. I was given 9 tablets for the same price as a 3 month prescription of the same medication. I was contacted by the pharmacist four days later to discuss the matter.I asked why it had been stopped as my HRT medication had changed to patches. I don't recall being advised to stop Utrogestan. The pharmacist advised that I would have to contact the practice nurse to clarify why it had been stopped. I managed to get a cancellation phone appointment for a couple of days later. I received an evening call and it was clarified why the medication had been refused. If I had been aware of why, it would have saved time for all concerned and a great deal of anguish for me. In all, the process took a week, communication between Practitioner and patient wasn't clear, it was an expense that I didn't need. Maybe when patients medication is on repeat prescription and it is stopped, an email to inform the patient could be helpful? Emails are sent to patients regarding other services that are available at your surgery. Just a thought.

Dear patient Thank you for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review about your recent contact and experience of the practice. I am really sorry that you have had such difficulty accessing your medication and I can see there were areas where communication could have been much clearer. I will feed this back to our Pharmacy team and share the review with our whole team so we can learn from this. If you would like to contact us and provide more information, it would help me trace the steps taken in processing your request so I can understand the root cause of the problem. I hope you will be happy to leave reviews in future to let us know how we're doing. Kind regards DS

Dear Rebecca Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry to hear you waited to speak to someone but the call never came. I would be interested in finding out more about this incident, so I can provide detailed feedback to the colleague responsible. Occasionally, our clinicians are able to issue medication without having to speak to patients - but we recognise the importance of good communication throughout. If you would like to tell us more about this incident, please call and speak to a member of our team. Kind regards DS

  4. Review titled Patch’s and pharmacy

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Patch’s works extremely well and is such a better option than the E consult. Faster and more efficient. I would like to raise a concern about the pharmacy though. Twice I have had prescriptions sent my the gp or nurse and still after 2 days the prescription is not ready. Unsure how to get a message across but if it’s prescribed people and babies need it

  5. Review titled Absolutely rubbish

Rated 1 star out of 5

I completed 2 E-consult forms for, possibly, separate issues, 2 weeks ago. 5 clinicians later and neither of my problems have been diagnosed and my records are marked “no further action”.

I transferred to this surgery in May after being dissatisfied with my treatment at another surgery. Since attending The Grange I have been having treatment twice a week from the nursing team. During this time I have always been treated with respect & have been involved in my treatment at all times

  8. Review titled appalling communication and lack of coordination.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 May 2023

The surgery does not communicate with the hospital ,leaving the medical staff there clueless as to what the surgery are or aren't doing regarding my treatment. I had to resort to the frankly useless NHS app to show nurses at the hospital which tests the surgery had ordered, and what the results were. Prior to that, a consultant had to write to the surgery with some urgency, asking them to commence treatment for one condition, in order that I could be treated by the hospital for another. One thing I am certain of, no-one at the surgery would want their health issues dealt with in such a haphazard fashion. How difficult can it be to phone or email a hospital department and coordinate treatment? Why do they rely on something as fallible as a patient, who is not a medical professional, to do it for them? Something as simple as a repeat prescription takes days to process. How can that be called effective or efficient, or even an improvement on what went before? The information screens in the waiting room fall well short of what they ought to. The receptionists try their best, but the layout of the room does not help them. Neither does it assist the medicos to have to come to reception and call the patients' names. Not at all 21st century, is it? I could go on at even greater length, but why should I? The issues are clear to anyone with a critical eye who has been treated there. Much improvement is needed, and promptly. If this were a garage, I'd take my car somewhere else. Unfortunately, I'm not a car, so I'm stuck with it.

Dear patient I'm sorry to hear about your recent experience. It's offensive to hear you call our staff "clueless" and I'm sorry to hear you also think the NHS app is useless. I can see you have some strong opinions and are clearly frustrated with your recent encounter(s). I would be really happy to investigate any issues you have experienced formally and provide you with a full response. Please call us and speak to a member of the team to provide more information and arrange a longer chat about these issues so we can support you. I would like to reassure you that, you are able to register at any GP surgery you wish (sunject to their catchment area). There are 4 other surgeries in our area who are taking new patients. But before you do think about registering elsewhere, please call us and let us investigate these issues. Kind regards DS Kind regards DS
