Review titled Very Frustrating
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Richard Reed - Posted on 21 March 2023
Before I start, on the positive side, the individual people I have dealt with at the surgery are lovely and helpful, but the processes around making appointments and further contact leave a lot to be desired. In common with some of the other reviews on this site, I am very frustrated at the process of trying to get an appointment. Even if you ring dead on 8am, you are still likely to receive the message 'there are more than 60 people in the queue in front of you'. The wait to speak with a receptionist usually takes over an hour and on my last few attempts, upon speaking with someone, I was informed that there were no appointments available and that if the condition was serious, I should contact 111. On my last attempt to speak with a doctor, I used their 'Doctorin' system instead. Although I registered my illness on the Wednesday, it was Monday evening the following week before I managed to speak to a someone. A week later (Tuesday) and after having finished the course of medication, I am still ill, but the 'Doctorin' case seems to have been closed, so it seems I have to start all over again! This isn't the first time I have found myself in this situation. This is so frustrating - why isn't there a mechanism in place, so that people with an ongoing condition are easily able to get back in contact! Update 11.30am Tuesday - just rang the surgery (queue no 13 - 20 minute wait) to complain that the Doctorin case had been closed - the receptionist informs me that a Doctor is due to ring me sometime on Friday. Hopefully, my condition won't have deteriorated too much by then.

Dear Mr Reed Thank you for your feedback. The doctrin platform is for routine queries. We do advise patients it may take up to 3 working days before your query is reviewed by our staff. Once your query is reviewed, this is assigned to a suitable clinician. If you would like to discuss your concern further, please contact me at the surgery. Kind Regards Emma Wilson Patient Services Manager

I was seen at Lakeside extremely quickly, and everyone I spoke to was friendly and informative. The doctor who treated me was compassionate and knowledgable, and overall my experience was very positive.

This experience is ongoing at the moment and am waiting to be contacted by a clinician. So far it has been positive. However, the telephone system is not fit for purpose and the website’contact’ form doesn’t work.

The practice obviously doesn’t know the concept of patient contact. Been waiting 3 months . I have tried various methods of trying to get them to respond but non have worked

Review titled Frustrating systems.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 January 2024
The booking system here is ridiculous and difficult. They seem to try and do anything to not have to involve an actual doctor. You can’t request a doctor so the chances of getting a good one are low. On this occasion I was lucky but it’s taken a long time and that was just by chance. It’s a lottery with this surgery and one that I doubt has many winners.

Review titled poor quality of care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 08 January 2024
after repeated attempts I managed to book on line for an appt to see a doctor face to face, but the few appts available are not with GPs listed as part of the practice, so presumably temporary locums. there is no continuity of care as each time you may see different doctors / health professionals. the alternative is to join long queues on the phone or use an on line questionnaire system where you may wait up to a week for a response and several people may read all your medical information before a decision is made as to who is going to deal with you, so no privacy and little dignity in that. CQC inspections put the practice in special measures in the past and still reports it as needing improvement yet no sign of any improvement over a year later. I don't know how long Stamford residents have to wait for improvements, but family and friends in other parts of the country have much better services than this, yet it's all part of a national health service, I don't understand why our practice managers can't look to see how these others do so well.

Review titled A bureaucratic nightmare
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Simon - Posted on 16 January 2023
Trying to get to see or speak to anyone beyond reception is a challenge that I think most people give up on. I started on Doctrin for a back problem, I was given an appointment a week later to see a GP. Great, I thought. I was prescribed several painkillers and an urgent MRI. I received the MRI within 7 days. Excellent. The pain relief I’m still waiting for. I’ve message 4 times thru Doctrin to be asked by a receptionist, “ are you talking about medication dated ..?!” To which I reply “no” and re-explain the journey so far and what the GP prescribed during the appointment. Since doing this I’ve heard nothing. Today is 10 days since I saw the GP and 19 days since my original Doctrin enquiry. It feels like a war of attrition in that if the patient is worn down enough and ignored enough they’ll go away and the surgery will have less to deal with. I understand the pressures, Covid, funding, life in general but this experience is affecting my mental health and levels of stress and very probably exacerbating the problem I’ve originally come to you with.
