Review titled Appointment wait
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 November 2023
Have tried to make an appointment was told I would have to wait for 2 weeks! When I said I was struggling to work because of the pain I was in was told to go to minor injuries if I couldn't wait 2 weeks On the website states, an appointment would be made for you in person or on the phone within 'a few days' They were not interested in how much pain I am in

Dear patient, Thank you for submitting your review and I am sorry that the advice given to you has left you with the impression that we were 'not interested' in how much pain you were in. As you have remained anonymous, we are not presently in a position to listen to the recording of any calls but it seems likely that there has been some miscommunication which the following may help to address. I believe that, in response to your report of acute pain and the difficulty of responding to this more quickly within the practice, our staff member was recommending that you attend a centre intended specifically to cater for such situations. Here is why I believe this:- In recognition that GP surgeries in a deprived area like Camborne-Redruth have difficulty in meeting the demand for those wishing to see a GP urgently, the NHS commissioned a ‘Primary Care Centre’ (‘PCC’) as an additional resource for all the local (Kerrier) practices; the PCC acts as a ‘walk-in’ centre (a service which has never been included in the core services provided by GP practices). Although co-housed with the Minor Injuries Unit at Camborne Redruth Community Hospital, the PCC is run by Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. It is not a hospital service but is staffed by GP’s. We as a Practice try to work closely with the PCC and integrate what we do so as to provide a seamless service for patients. ( Because other areas in Cornwall are increasingly coming up against pressures comparable to those we have experienced locally, we are hearing of plans under consideration to extend the use of ‘overflow hubs’ to prevent GP’s becoming more completely overwhelmed in the face of shortages of staff and other resources.) We are conscious that arrangements such as those described above may lead to misunderstandings, especially as our PCC is housed at the community hospital and may be barely distinguishable from the Minor Injuries Unit with which it is co-located. Our staff are trained and encouraged to give an appropriate account of the true situation to patients but it seems that this cannot have happened on this occasion. If you would care to contact our Patient Advice team ( at c2c.pals@nhs.net ) with the necessary details, we can review the call for validation and training purposes and respond more specifically). With best wishes, Stephen Holby Managing Partner Carn to Coast Health Centres

Review titled Fantastic surgery
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I cannot express my gratitude enough for carn to coast. After a previous negative experience with my young daughter elsewhere, my daughter was left terrified of the doctors and would refuse to be anywhere near one. However, thanks to the many clinicians who have dealt with her and cared for her since, they have helped my terrified toddler turn into a happy and excited child who is now happy to see a doctor and gets excited play or draw with them. I cannot thank everyone here enough for their patience, understanding and empathy towards us. It really hasn't gone unnoticed and I will always be extremely grateful to everyone for this and the amazing staff.

Review titled Amazing Doctor
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mrs Joanne Moir - Posted on 16 April 2024
Came today to see Dr. about my hearing loss which had improved since making appointment, except for one ear...he referred me to hospital to get an hearing aid. Whilst there I asked him about my hands and foot skin condition just by looking he told me exactly what it was and treatment for it, even writing it down for me. Iv had this rash off and on for years and not one doctor has told me what it was. I will definitely ask to see him again if needed in the future. Turns out it's a form of psoriasis which iv apparently inherited from my father.

Review titled Unable to get drug review appointment in timely manner
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 16 April 2023
My dad saw a nurse as was very ill and they said not to worry it was just a virus. Six days later dad was in hospital feeling and getting worse. After a whole day in A&E including blood tests, identifying infection, an X-ray and a CT scan he was eventually sent home with steroids for 7 days. The discharge notes said he would need a drug review with GP before drugs run out (surgery confirmed they had notes when parents went to physically take notes in also following surgery accusing hospital of not sending notes previously). Unfortunately this surgery has made a telephone appointment for two days later that this resulting in a great deal of concern and stress for my parents. Surgery refused to address this when asked so parents sought advice from a pharmacist as they cannot trust this surgery.

Review titled Not a very good clinical team
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 May 2023
The receptionists was lovely and really helpful. However, the clinical team aren’t. I had been x3 that month for the same thing but it was getting worse. Every time I went I was told it was “viral” and nothing to worry about. Was given numbing spray and left. Ended up going to MIU because I was unable to eat and was in pain and they referred me to ENT and both MIU and ENT said if I was given antibiotics the first time I went to the GP I wouldn't of been admitted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital. I understand that the GP’s and NHS are under pressure but it doesn’t give doctors a reason to blame it on a viral infection when it wasn’t.

Dear patient, We are sorry that you were dissatisfied with our service and, if you care to contact us via c2c.PALS@nhs.net , we can look into the appropriateness of the care given in your specific circumstances. As a general point, however, it is definitely not good clinical practice to give out antibiotics where the symptoms suggest that a problem is likely to be viral in origin as this leads to their becoming less and less effective where they are needed. Our clinicians normally advise patients to let us know if symptoms worsen. We attach a link to the NHS website, where it is explained why antibiotics are no longer routinely used to treat infections Antibiotic resistance - NHS (www.nhs.uk) . We apologise if this was not made clear to you. PALS Team Carn to Coast Health Centres

Review titled Cant see a GP
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Karl Everett - Posted on 27 March 2023
Just the worst customer service I have ever had - A poor 7-page online appointment system that generates a short text message that you can't reply to, with little to no explanation of any course of action. One of the practice locations closed due to staff shortages but never reopened. In trying to get an appointment with a GP I've been told to use the GP walk-in Centre at the hospital...no reason just push me somewhere else! Hopeless!!

Review titled Can't prescribe
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 20 March 2023
I take four drugs, the same every month, I have been doing so for years, but every month this practise fails to prescribe the four drugs correctly. Last year I kept running out of one of them because they kept prescribing too few. Then I had a review 6 months ago and one dose was changed. Ever since then, every month, I ask them to synchronise my medication, and every month, without fail, they don't. Its not hard to prescribe four drugs at the same time but, sadly, this seems beyond the capacity of this failing practise.

Dear Anonymous, We are sorry that you have had these issues. If you would care to identify yourself to me via our patient advice e-mail address ( C2c.pals@nhs.net ), I shall look into them further and try to identify what is causing the problem. To put this in context, we issue around 1000 prescriptions each day, the great majority of which are for multiple repeat medications. Kind Regards Kelly Walmsley Governance and Patient Liaison Officer

Review titled Its impossible to get to see a doctor
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 March 2024
My entire interaction confirms a widely held suspicion, that they will do anything to prevent you from being able to speak to or see a dr, forcing you to use online forms which are hopeless from a ui/ux perspective and if you put in actual values responds with that value is too large, so you have to lie on the form to get it to progress. The frustration in trying to use a form totally unsuitable to the user experience is enormous now wonder they get so much abuse when speaking to people, they told me I had to speak to the pharmacy, the pharmacy have already told me I need to see the dr... so I am left with no drugs, no appointment with a dr and an unusable form that seems determined to prevent me from submitting a request.
