    E-consult. Gave a day they were ringing back and they did. Wasn’t rushed, given advice and was listened to. If I needed to see the doctor, I could have. There was no pressure to get off the phone, there was genuine empathy.

    I was told because I can hold down a relationship and a job that I was not feeling what I was feeling. Honestly couldn’t believe what I was being told. No face to face appointments for mental health patients is an absolute joke. The doctor then sent me a review paper for adhd. But then proceeded to say you’re probably wasting your time I’ll review it and see! What a positive experience I’ve had

    Long waiting times on the phone which tells you how far you are in the queue (8th in my case and a 30 minute wait to be answered). Before my practice was taken over by Beacon a receptionist would usually answer straightaway (except during busy times such as a Monday morning) often with a GP triaging your call the same day. I rang the surgery on a midweek afternoon as the e-consult I had completed told me I needed to make an appointment with a doctor (after I had spent 15 minutes completing it). Once the call was finally answered the person on the other end was polite and helpful. Heaven forfend that you may want to see a doctor face to face, you have to agree to a telephone appointment with a doctor who you may or may not know and you have to describe your symptoms as best you can, conscious that you are talking to someone who probably has a huge list of calls to make and just wants some headline symptoms. You may then be rewarded with the holy grail of an appointment in the surgery. In my case I was referred for blood tests - carried out very efficiently by the NHS blood team with the results returning within a couple of days. I was able to check these on the NHS app and completed another (this time successful) e-consult as I tested positive for a potentially life limiting condition. In response I was sent a text giving the date of a remote appointment/text or email for over 2 weeks time, by whom it does not say, on a day when I’m not available. No friendly voice from the surgery giving reassurance or advice in the meantime as happened pre-Covid. I receive a more personal service from my internet provider and bank call centres. I am hoping after completing yet another online message that the date can be changed as I don’t want to start again. It feels very much like the patient is disrupting their workflow systems rather than being put first. I have always been a staunch supporter of the NHS and I accept that it is under a lot of strain but to me it feels as though any personal interaction with patients is positively discouraged by Beacon Medical Group.

    For me personally I don't have any gripes , I fill in a econsol and I find it is dealt with as soon as it is possible considering it is a busy surgery The doctors are all very pleasant and I would not say anything other.

    Most of the time my GP is very helpful, but on this occasion, ie trying to get my passport application paper signed. All kind of excuses why it could not be done.
