  1. Review titled Excellent 5 star practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Paul G - Posted on 12 April 2023

We have been with the practice for 5 years and have found everyone to be helpful and efficient. Visiting today for an ecg and possible chest infection, I couldn’t have asked for better or speedier treatment.

  2. Review titled Accessing a doctor part 2

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sue mitchell - Posted on 19 April 2023

This is my second review as I wanted to update my first one. At 8 am I was in queue on the phone to see a doctor today,by 8.30 I was number 13 in the queue when I got cut off. Rang straightaway back and was told all appointments gone for the day. Stayed on the line as don’t really trust ringback as I have been missed before. So while still waiting at 9.30 I was cut off again. No idea this time what number in the queue I was. Rang straight back and now requesting call back as was my only option at this point my physical condition is affecting mental health but have now been getting help with this. My concern today was lumps under my skin which the doctor had seen 7 weeks ago. I was ringing because after not been able to see a doctor before I had to resort to the nhs web site about these lumps. While they are apparently normal there is a possibility of them becoming a problem if they are fast growing. Mine are multiplying in huge numbers and original ones are now huge covering large areas of my arms and legs. I really need this checked again to ensure that there is still no problem with them as for me they are growing at an alarming rate. When will this surgery review there service for getting through to a doctor? I left a message on website last week and have received no acknowledgment of this or a reply. No idea what is happening here am very stressed.

by Sue mitchell - Posted on 19 April 2023

Today I am trying to get help from a doctor, I rang at 8 and got in queue when I was number 13 in the queue I got cut off at 8.30 and are now back in the queue. I’ve no idea yet what number I am in the queue but just before I got cut of I heard that all of today’s appointments are now taken. I am shaking with anxiety at this as really needed to see a doctor today about some lumps on my body which are multiplying and growing rapidly at an alarming rate. So anxious that I can on here to write this instead of panicking but unfortunately I am having a panic attack and having to use my breathing exercises to remain calm. Please help.

  4. Review titled Great experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Katherine Yildirim - Posted on 12 April 2023

I called today in response to a GP letter requesting I contact the surgery to make an appointment. There was a call wait time, however, I was kept informed of the progress of my call and alternative options should I have limited time. On speaking with the receptionist I found her to be polite, super helpful and accommodating - she could not have been nicer. I rarely contact the surgery so had a couple of queries. At the end of the short call all actions were either completed or I was given details of how to get things sorted out - including sending me relevant links. Thank you so much for doing what I am acutely aware is a challenging job.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry you had a bad time. As you have not left your name I cannot look into things in more detail. If you would like me to, you can email feedback.bchc@nhs.net You should not have to wait on the phone as we have our Queue-buster callback facility which is an automated system. If you choose this then, as soon as one of our excellent in-house call centre staff is free, the system automatically dials your number. This avoids you having to hold on the phone and allows you to get on with your day. We do record all of our phone calls so if someone was rude to you, and you let us know when this was, we can listen back and learn from it. Many thanks, Dr Gwyneth Rogers, Clinical Lead

  8. Review titled Really would like an advance appt

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 May 2023

I have been trying since March 2023 to get through to arrange a doctor’s appt to discuss perimenopausal symptoms. It’s not life threatening but it is drastically affecting my life. I am unable to obtain one as am forever on hold (during my own working hours) and also cannot take same day appts. This is because I am an NHS clinical lead myself and can’t just drop everything on the day. I’d love to have an appt booked and a chance to discuss my issues- it would certainly keep me functioning well in my job for my own patients. I’m acutely aware of the NHS pressures, I experience them myself but I’m in a rock and a hard place at the moment. I would appreciate a response on how I can book an appt without being on hold perpetually.

Thanks for submitting a comment. It is always useful to have feedback so that we can learn from it and hopefully provide a better service. I am sorry you are not happy with our care. As a colleague in the NHS I am sure that you are aware that there is a nationwide shortage of GPs so the pressure is on as far as appointments are concerned. As a female GP I love helping women with menopause issues. Often it does not require an actual appointment as it is relatively straightforward to manage. The options are HRT or not-HRT (other treatments). My usual practice is to provide the lady with information on both, for her to look at and then decide what she would like to do. As you haven't submitted your name, I can't send these to you. If you contact feedback.bchc@nhs.net they can provide the information sheets for you. We don't do hormone blood tests unless you are experiencing premature menopause symptoms (under age 45) as per NICE guidance. In terms of booking appointments, there is a waiting list for these which the Call Centre will happily slot you into if you still feel you need to talk to someone directly. Happily, the waiting list is nowhere near as long as that in the hospitals! Many thanks, Dr Gwyneth Rogers, Clinical Lead

Dear Mr Manuel, thanks for taking the time to leave some feedback. We always take feedback seriously and use it to improve our services for patients. Unfortunately, we have not received any request from you. If you sent it to the NMC maybe they still have it? We are primarily an NHS service and providing references is not something we generally do so it is entirely possible that, even if we do receive your request, we may not be able to help you. Furthermore, we usually charge a fee for any non-NHS work. I wish you every success in your nursing career. Best wishes, Dr Gwyneth Rogers, Clinical Lead.

  10. Review titled Lovely Ladies on Reception

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 July 2023

I called in last night as I tried the Call Centre during the day and quite honestly got the runaround, trying to book a HRT Review. They advised me that as of 27th July 2023 HRT Reviews could be booked and did I want to book an appointment there and then. Well yes indeed I did. This was duly done. Both ladies were incredibly helpful and apologised for the run around I had had on teh phones. I think it would however be good practice to let the poor folks in the Call Centre that HRT Review can be booked from 27th July 2023. Many thanks ladies for your help, very much appreciated.

Dear Patient Thank you so much for your review. I am delighted to note that you feel you received such a great service from our fabulous reception team. Apologies that the call centre were not yet aware about the very recent changes concerning HRT reviews. The lady you spoke to on reception remembers you well and had been involved in setting these new appointments up. We always wait for clinics to be fully confirmed before sharing information with all staff, to ensure everything is in place and there are no last minute changes that need to made. Thank you again Jennifer Nichols Practice Manager
