Balby SpaMedica staff made me feel welcome, relaxed and at ease. Friendly and knowledgeable. Spotless consulting rooms. Talked through the procedure meticulously. I felt confident to let them do the operation. The Consultant took time to introduce himself and also told me what he was doing at every stage. So happy to get my cataract removed and the speed and painless way it was done. Thank you so much to all the staff at SpaMedica Doncaster and the coffees and biscuits were very welcome too.

From first entering Spa Medica I found every member of staff so efficient, cheerful and helpful…I had my pre op appointment and the operation the following day, the whole experience was carried out so professionally and all the staff put you at ease and explained everything, the surgeon personally spoke to everyone individually

In November 2022 I had a cataract procedure on my right eye and returned in February 2023 for this appointment. Although I was yet again impressed with staff at Spa Medica, experience of this second procedure was not good. Once in theatre I felt directions and instructions were given abruptly, the initial eye pad was applied very roughly causing some discomfort with pressure on my eye and I experienced quite a lot of pressure pain in my eyeball during the procedure. Once done, I was told that my eyeball had been cut/scratched (I'm not entirely certain of the actual words used). I was told it would "probably be painful for a couple of days, take ordinary painkillers - we can't do anything more". I left with the usual eye shield but also with a large dressing pad. Post-operatively I had some pain and considerable discomfort for two days, taking paracetamol for some relief. My eye was extremely sensitive to light to the point of being painful so I kept curtains and blinds drawn. From the third day, things improved and I have been following the drops regime as directed from the day following surgery. When I underwent the first procedure in November, I understand that the surgeon directed that anaesthetic drops were applied along with the first dilating drops ie an additional dose. I feel that this may have been why I found the first procedure so much better in terms of discomfort during the second procedure. Whilst I appreciate that no two procedures will be the same, I feel that the second procedure was much less calm, felt quite hurried and perfunctory leading to the issues comments that I've commented on.

I had operations in December last year and February this year to remove cataracts from both eyes. The whole process for both operations from the pre assessment to the actual operation at Spa Medica Doncaster has been excellent . The staff are friendly and professional and I always felt were there to ensure everything went well and they want patients to have a good experience. I would recommend SpaMedica without hesitation.

I was very nervous to go but I need not have been from the person who logged me in to the receptionists the nurses and the surgeon first class I would definitely recommend to anyone. Spamedica is the place to go !!! Excellent !!

All staff very friendly, polite, courteous and extremely efficient. Felt at ease throughout the visit and during the cataract surgery. Would recommend to anyone I know who requires treatment.

Staff very helpful and efficient. Parking and access was easy. Receptionists were helpful and put you at ease. Was very pleased with the surgery and care. Answered all questions and queries and took time to explain each stage of the procedures. Once referred was quickly seen and offered an appointment for the surgery very quickly. I found the whole experience very pleasant.
