  1. Review titled Never got a call back

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sarah - Posted on 02 April 2023

Rang 111 at 20.53 due to extreme pain. Current wait in local a and e was 11 hours. I was told I'd get a call in 30 minutes. 2 hours later I called them to be told the queue on the phone was over an hour. In the end, I never got to speak to anybody and the call never came

Call handler was great. GP responded promptly and with such kindness. Prescribed antibiotics. Just wanted to thank him for his professional and great understanding.

  3. Review titled Did not help

I rang 111 and was on hold for an hour. When I finally got through to someone regarding my tooth pain. I was told I had to ring a dentist to which I explained that I’ve tried countless times and then I got told wel we can’t do nothing goodbye. Then they hung up. Disgusted and severely in pain.

  4. Review titled Poor

Rated 1 star out of 5

The triage script was used rigidly with no deviation and no response to anything extra I said might as well have been talking to a computer. I was told Dr would call back within 6 hours this didn't happen. 24 hrs later received call apologising for not calling back! By then was on way out to see GP. Won't use again as total waste of time not fit for purpose.

  5. Review titled Waste of time

Rated 2 stars out of 5

This is my second experience of using this service within 3 years and it was useless and stressful both times. You can tell they are simply following a data input and reading out the instructions - there appears to be no listening to the patient or divergent from their script. I was trying to avoid a long wait time in A&E for my grandparent who’d injured their arm and requested the 2 hour urgent care referral which the NHS website said we qualified for and just to phone 111. Instead I was told we didn’t qualify and to go to a walk-in centre. I said we would go to one in the south of the city as I know they have a huge range of facilities and departments. But the 111 person insisted we go to a different centre because that’s what the screen was telling them. When I refused, they made me feel like I was going to be in trouble and said they’d have to pass me to their supervisor because I was potentially putting my grandparent at risk! I said I wasn’t refusing him treatment, I was simply going to the south centre rather than the one they said. Long story short, I went to the centre they told me to where, lo and behold, they didn’t have the facilities to deal with the injury. From there we were referred somewhere else and basically 6 hours and 3 walk-in centres later, we ended up at the south centre that I originally wanted to go to because they were the only one that had the facilities we needed. It’s an absolute joke. Even the doctor at the centre commented how terrible 111 are and that they spend a lot of time redirecting patients elsewhere due to 111 not getting it right. My poor elderly grandparent spent a lot of unnecessary time in pain and discomfort.

Rated 1 star out of 5

Called 111 today suffering with psychotic symptoms and not slept in 3 days due to having no meds. Was told a g.p will call me in 2 hours. Its now the following day still no medication. Mental health deteriorating. Apparently the nhs are blaming patient's for fall of of nhs they do not accept responsibility. No body does in 21st century

  7. Review titled Total waste of time

The 111 service is not a viable useful service. The triaging is wholly a tick box exercise, with no apparent insight or understanding to the information they are provided with. This is potentially dangerous and life threatening diagnosis such as sepsis is easily missed. If GPS were more available and actually saw their patients face to face our A&E departments wouldn't be so overwhelmed with patients who had no success with the 111 service

  8. Review titled Disappointing experience!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Horizad Ghamian - Posted on 22 March 2023

4 days ago had a contact surgery on an eye with perfect vision to get a cloudy vision. The supposedly 24 hours help line number and the general enquiries number for NHS patients do not answer when I need a medical professional to tell me whether my current blurry vision is temporary or not? What a disappointing experience!

  9. Review titled Appalling! Useless! Non Existent!

Rated 1 star out of 5

My sister noticed a rash on my 1 year old nephew and we immediately called NHS 111, after millions of questions (some useless questions) we were given an appointment to be seen by an ‘urgent’ care centre GP at a nearest hospital. We double checked with the NHS 111 caller to make sure that we don’t have to wait in the A&E as this is meant to be urgent!! As previously we had waited over 7 hours to be seen!!! Upon arrival we informed the reception desk that we have an appointment booked for my nephew to be seen by an urgent care GP and yet we are told that you’re looking at 4 hours wait!!! Why are we told by nhs 111 that we will be seen upon arrival and we are told at the hospital to wait 4 hours. Absolutely disgraceful and disappointing! I recognise the pressure the NHS is in however.. people need Urgent Care!!!! And need seeing urgently!!! Not after 4 hours or 7 hours! Where would people go if there’s no urgent care???!!!

  10. Review titled Appalling

Rated 1 star out of 5

Just go to A and E. Over 12h later for something that wasn’t an emergency, and still technically isn’t, and I’m having to take my husband in just to be able to talk to someone about his condition on top of a stoma bag. Not the call takers fault, they take the calls and relay. Just a lack of understanding of the impact of illnesses on top of existing conditions and no service. Thought 111 was there to try to alleviate the pressure on A and E for less serious stuff that maybe can’t wait for an gp appointment/out of hours?? All it does it make you wait 12h to think screw it we’ll go anyway.
