  1. Review titled No call back pointless

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Lyn Hall - Posted on 11 December 2022

Was on hold for over an hour for my 10 year old son. Asked the scripted questions. Said someone would call within the hour. This was 9.30pm. No one called. Spoke to again after waiting 30 plus minutes the next morning. Said they are busy, someone will call. Someone called and left a message at 12pm. I was out picking my other son up from school. Then someone called. They put the phone down after 4 rings before putting phone down. I did not have time to even pick up the phone. Was absolutely disgusted. I called the number after a 1471. You have to call 111 again. That does not constitute a call. Only option is to just go straight to A & E. Appalling lack of care.

  2. Review titled Poor Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 December 2022

Called early on Boxing Day morning with a severe cough and occasional breathing difficulties. Call was answered within 30 minutes. I was informed that a doctor or nurse “needed” to call me back within the hour. Call back was from an operator telling me that my call back would take longer than expected as they were very busy. Understand that others were maybe rightly triaged ahead of me. However, Now more than 24 hours on I have not had a call back. My husband has wanted to take me to A&E, which I have refused as I do not think that my condition is currently life threatening. I work in healthcare and I believe that I need antibiotics for a chest infection as there is a risk of it turning into pneumonia. Looks like I will need to wait until doctors surgeries are open again on 28th with no sleep, coughing and trying to get my breath. Very poor that this service obviously does not have adequate resources to be able to help people when they need it. I’m sure that individuals are doing the very best that they can with the resources that are available to them, but this service has failed me and I suspect others at this time.

  4. Review titled Very happy

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 December 2022

Filled in online form at 7.44am and the message said a Nurse would review and aim to call me within an hour. Forty minutes later a doctor called me and asked lots of questions and issued a prescription straight to a local chemist. He asked if could access my medical records which was fine. I'm happy with the response and treatment.

  5. Review titled Inadequate

Rated 1 star out of 5

I’ve used 111 a couple of times and have found it can be very hit and miss. Yesterday I rang to ask advice re my 4yo daughter who was showing signs of scarlet fever (so would need antibiotics). I was told that a clinician would contact me within 12hrs…24hrs later and I have heard nothing. I tried ringing again today and was on hold for almost an hour and a half before I gave up. Instead I took my daughter to the hospital where they were clearly understaffed and swamped by people. Waited over 4 hours to be given antibiotics for the expected diagnosis. 111 is a joke.

  7. Review titled Inexcusable

Rated 1 star out of 5

I contacted 111 online, filled in a questionnaire about my symptoms, was informed a nurse would call in an hour. This was 11am on 27 December. At 6.15 am the following day - 19 hours later - i was woken up by a call. The nurse made no apology, appeared unconcerned and asked me if i wanted to 'terminate the order'. I was unable to contact my gp by phone or online. The gp phoneline just cut me off. So what was i meant to do? I am a pensioner and have never experienced such a lack of professionalism or concern for my welfare. The GP system is unfit, as is 111. I felt desperate and abandoned.

  8. Review titled Not able to respond to need

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 December 2022

After initially being on hold to 111 for 1hr 45 mins, I was told my sons symptoms warranted speaking with a clinician within an hour. We are now at 14 hours and still no call. There is a lot of public health information advising you to be aware of the symptoms of Strep A but when you report that your child is experiencing these (and has had known contact with a positive case) there is no timely response. I do not blame the practitioners, as a NHS practitioner myself I can imagine how difficult and frustrating it must be for them to not be able to provide the service they are meant to. It is another NHS service on its knees, that is not able to respond to the need. It is sad and frustrating.

  9. Review titled Not fit for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

Called on Boxing Day morning as I suspected my daughter may have strep a. Waited hour and half for my call to be answered (fair enough I expected that) Was asked a load of questions and was told a doctor would call back. A little while later had a call from a nurse who asked all the same questions I had already been asked and told me a doctor would call back , we waited all night and all day on 27th, we never received that call from a doctor will now wait til gp opens in the morning. Totally useless nowhere to turn to on a long bank hol weekend, no gp open, you are asked not to go a&e unless urgent, well people have no choice do they when this service is totally useless.

  10. Review titled Dreadful waste of time

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Johnny - Posted on 10 December 2022

1 hour on hold to speak to a rude woman, asking unrelated questions, trying to lead me to Covid, which isn’t what my daughter has. I had phoned whilst she was asleep, so she made me wake her up even though this bore no relevance to any of her further nonsense questions. After all that she rattled through the pre-written script and told me someone would call me back… still waiting
