Place was easy to find and very clean, staff were very happy and friendly. The information given was very good. Was given a bag when leaving with follow up information and drops for post procedure care.

  2. Review titled New experience

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by New experience - Posted on 11 March 2024

My first visit. I had previously, for a number of years, visited an optician near Crown Island. Visits were yearly. I made one visit during COVID but had to cancel the second one as I was ill. When I tried to remake the appointment I was informed that that was impossible as I had cancelled the previous one! My optician then had to start the process again. This took some time. I did not know what to expect, I was assuming another optician and was surprised to find a purpose designed building and to note at least 15 people waiting in a large reception area. I arrived well in time and assumed I might be in for a long wait. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I was called in ten minutes before my 10.15 appointment. The doctor was pleasant and efficient. However, the session was a total surprise. All my previous appointments at the optician’s had lasted at least 40 minutes and consisted of numerous exercises, for example following dots round a computer screen. On this occasion I was expecting something similar. Certainly I was asked to stare into a large concave disc. After a very few minutes the doctor spoke, said something like ‘we will continue monitoring you’ and showed me out. I was literally back on the street before what 10.15! I am totally bemused. I haven’t a clue what it was all about. It was totally different from all my past experience. I phoned a nursing friend who is eye trained. I asked her what the usual process was. She described in detail exactly that which I had always experienced at the Crown Island optician. I phoned my doctor’s receptionist to see if she could shed some light on the experience, she said all they had done was to reinstall the monitoring.

Every thing was alright Staff nice Polite. One thing I didn’t like was when finishing eye they gave me eye protection to wear it at night for 1 Week but I ask for tapes to hold eye protection they said I have to use my own bandage which I was happy about it . They should give proper tape. I couldn’t go out 1 week to buy tape.

  6. Review titled Awful practice

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 March 2024

My grandad is disabled and struggles to move his legs. Upon confirmation of his appointment we were told that his needs would be accommodated and he was reassured he wouldn’t have to move around a lot during his appointment. When we arrived at the clinic for his appointment the woman on reception ignored us for around 3 minutes, leaving my Grandad stood waiting as she finished writing an email and drinking her cup of tea. When we said why we were there, she said “okay just go to the waiting room”. My Grandad was clearly struggling and we were offered no assistance. We then went into a consultation room and the nurse that saw to us had zero people skills. She didn’t great either of us and requested my Grandad to sit in numerous chairs in the very small room, which he was clearly struggling with. She then placed a patch over my Grandad’s eye despite being asked to wait for a minute. My Grandad very politely said “please can you just wait one minute” but she continued to mess around with him, much to his discomfort. As it took my Grandad a little while to manoeuvre himself the nurse sighed and folded her arms, as if it was a great inconvenience. My Grandad apologised because he could sense her frustration however she did not respond to his apology and instead walked out of the consultation room and left us to see ourselves out. The doctor who we then saw in another consultation room had quite a similar demeanour and would often interrupt my Grandad and talk through him to me. We are not easily offended, however I feel I am in a position to advocate for my Grandad and I was shocked by the level of care he received during his time at CHEC. I understand the nurses and doctors work tirelessly and I hugely appreciate the work they all do, however I must say the way my Grandad was treated today was disgusting. He is now upset, uncomfortable, confused and embarrassed.

  7. Review titled Dismal attitude

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Purdi - Posted on 15 March 2024

I was seen for less than 15 minutes and was told I had an incurable disease in both eyes. There was no kindness or sympathy and no bedside manner. I was simply told to use the eye drops which were prescribed and that further down the line I might be able to have inserts or surgery. That was it. Out the door I was sent while I was still in shock. To make matters worse I had to chase the clinic for the prescription and was told they had tried to send it to my GP but a glitch prevented it going through. If I hadn't chased nothing would have been done to enable me to get the medication I need. Whatever damage is done to my eyes is permanent but two weeks after my appointment I'm still awaiting the medication. Further, because of cancelled appointments and not being called back as soon as I should have been has resulted in an entire year of waiting to be diagnosed. An entire year for my eye disease to worsen. An appalling experience all round

  9. Review titled Uncaring

Rated 1 star out of 5

In and out in a15 minutes after being told I have an curable eye disease. No bedside manner and no compassion and no time to understand what I had been told. It has taken you an entire year to diagnose this amidst cancelled and postponed appointments. all the while knowing the damage caused daily to my eye cannot be undone, a glitch in the system when sending a prescription should not mean you then give up. anyone reading this should avoid this place

  10. Review titled Cancelled Appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

I attended for my appointment only to be told it was cancelled. They claim they tried to call me less than 4 hours before the appointment to tell me but there was not answer. Couldn't even be bothered the leave a voice mail. Half a day off work with lost wages. I guess as patients we're just not that important!
