    went today - 5/9/24 a) Eye scan - operative tried to scan the wrong eye, even after verbal explanation by the consultant. b) Scan failed - was not told why either by operative or later by consultant c) Earlier phone contact had made several promises about treatment - the condition, length of consultation etc after 20 minutes of me explaining the eye problems over the phone to anther consultant c) Consultant on the day, had not read any of this, so was expecting just a "review" not dealing with a major problem d) little or no explanation about the proposed problem, or the proposed treatment, expecting me to agree to it all on the spot with little or no understanding of the issues. Had similar problems before with chec blackpool, so will now avoid like the plague. e) All very rushed, beware !!

    Brought my mother in for appointment. I travel from Wales for all appointments so is very difficult for us. Mum has breathing difficulties so every appointment is a mission. We attended an appointment and had photo taken. Luckily we were able to secure an appointment the next day to see the doctor. He advised we would need to make a further appointment for cleaning of the lens on my mother’s right eye. Later the same day we received a text message asking us to make an appointment. I was surprised and was really happy when appointment dates for the next day appeared. I duly booked for the next day as this was great as the day after I was returning to Wales. I struggled to get my mum to the booked appointment but on arrival was told appointment was for follow up only and not the treatment. ( was exactly what we had had previous day). I made another appointment for when I am next back from Wales but have had to deal with a very upset mother and am now having to leave her in an upset state. I feel greater care should be made when sending out letters and texts so they do not overlap with appointments as they become very confusing for customers can she causing upset. I am computer literate and even I fell into this trap. .

    You are welcomed by all the staff at the eye clinic from first entering the practice along with the staff in the treatment room putting you at ease. Great atmosphere and everywhere clean and tidy. Thank you so much.

    Extremely efficient service. Both cataract operations completed in a 7 week period. The resultant eye sight feels nothing short of miraculous. Though there is no pain felt it is a traumatic experience. The procedure is completed quickly and minimises the period of anxiety. All the team are reassuring, caring and calming. From the reception desk to the post op room I was treated courteously, respectfully and compassionately. Written information provided is detailed and comprehensive regarding what you might experience and what to do post op. This is reiterated verbally by the staff. The experience has been made as bearable as it could have been for someone who is admittedly squeamish. For others less squeamish I am sure the team made seem like a breeze. Thankyou all so much.

    I am over the moon with the eye treatment I received from chec watford. I have not had such good vision for a long time. From entering at reception all was very positive. So pleased.

    I’ve been 4 times to Chec now with my Nan as she is elderly and doesn’t drive. The first time they were brilliant, really helpful. Couldn’t do enough for us. The second time I had to visit was to collect extra drops for my Nan even though they knew she didn’t drive. Third time I visited was to have an emergency check up as her eye was inflamed and red and they gave us eye drops for her to use. And my fourth time which was today, they were unbelievably rude. The receptionist was unbothered when anyone came to the desk didn’t really look up from her computer and when she did she just looked like she couldn’t be bothered with being there, and the nurse who discharged my Nan made her feel very stupid when she asked questions regarding the aftercare of her eye. She asked for more eye drops to save me going back in 2 weeks time and the nurse was very quick to tell her no and even after hearing the reason why she needed a second lot she just about gave her them. She also asked for more of some other drops as she’s nervous about this one getting inflamed like the other one, the nurse said no she could buy them over the counter at a chemist, my man reinstated to her that she doesn’t drive so why couldn’t the nurse just give them to her. When we left my Nan claimed that she felt very unhappy with the staff there however her surgeon was amazing and super attentive and made her feel totally at ease while having the surgery done.

    I don’t feel my eye sight was ever safe in CHEC’s hands. Firstly when they took over the system they failed to notify me. Then when I was getting seen none of the checks that I always had before they took over were done and the person seeing me didn’t know anything about eyes. I contacted them today about booking an appointment and they have decided to close my case because “they hadn’t heard from me”. I received no communication at all from them. After 20 years of everything going smoothly I have to start again. I’m so so disappointed

    Been to chec eye clinic today and l thought that one of the nurses there deserves a mention she was lovely especially to a chap who was waiting for transport home he was 99 years young he had been waiting for an hour at this point he was given tea and biscuits and checked on regular just a small act like this goes a long way so thank you for your kindness
