Review titled No communication
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 November 2024
Stepdad visited accident and emergency in whips cross. His mobile phone has no network in hospital. I rang and spoke to a member of staff and received an update. I specifically asked for a member of staff to get back in touch with me when the test and urology has seen my stepdad. I was told the department is very busy. Which I understand. I told the member of staff that it is very important re communication because my stepdad will not be able to retain the I information given to me accurately with test result etc. despite calling back for 13 hours and I do not know what is happening. Service is very poor.

Review titled Feeling safe
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 October 2024
I visited the A&E because of an urgent psych review (gp referral). I was overwhelmed and worried. Everyone was so nice and understanding that I did not feel like a burden. The care was well-planned and communicated. I am autistic, and I was supported during the whole visit. People were supportive and calm around me, even when I was dysregulated. The mental health liaison team came quickly, and the crisis team, icah was professional and gave me a safe place to reflect and come up with a plan together.

Review titled Amazing Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jeremy - Posted on 08 November 2024
Dear NHS, I wanted to thank you for the amazing care we received when our 7 month old went into anaphylactic shock at home. The ambulance was with us in less than 15 mins and the paramedics were attentive and caring. The paediatrics team at the hospital were fantastic and ensured that our child was monitored and looked after. Everyone involved, the 999 operator, the paramedics and the doctors and nurses did an incredible job and we are very thankful for all of your help.

Review titled Great experience in Same Day Emergency Care unit
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jane - Posted on 09 October 2024
I was seen today for investigations into severe headache. The service was excellent from start to finish, the staff including the receptionist, health care assistants, nurse specialists, doctor and radiologist were all polite and efficient. I was always given clear information about what steps would be taken next and what to expect. I am very grateful for the care I received.

I was taken into A and E after a fall and the Dr and nurses went above and beyond, they were extremely kind and caring and kept me updated whilst the tests were being done. Review titled 5 star A&E service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kevin Murray - Posted on 06 October 2024
I had an unexpected and painful swollen calf yesterday morning and suspected a deep vein thrombosis. I was assessed and treated in the Same Day Emergency Clinic with utmost courtesy and professionalism yesterday. I had to return this morning for further investigations: the diagnosis was a ruptured cyst behind the knee; all completed and out with 2 hours. Superb service and very friendly staff - many thanks

Review titled Rude and patronising A&E staff
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Rebecca - Posted on 08 September 2024
I’m really upset about how two members of staff have just treated me in the A&E department and have left feeling really stupid and down. I was told by a pharmacist and 111 to go to a&e to get urgent care for my infected cut that’s been seeping puss. There was a male member of staff at the triage section and a nurse he called over and they both spoke to me like I was a child being told off (I’m 29) and were really unnecessarily horrible to me. The nurse (after pressing and rubbing her finger over my open wound) was saying to me “you keep moving your thumb that’s why. It’s on the knuckle surely you’ve seen puss before and should know that’s not puss?” Amongst other condensing comments with a harsh tone. I felt like they both ganged up on me, were snapping at me, speaking to me like I was wasting their time (as if I want to be their on my Sunday when I’m moving house) If this does turn out to be an infection or even worse I get sepsis, I will be making a formal complaint. I feel nervous about ever speaking to a medical professional about issues moving forward, and will definitely be travelling further out to a different hospital in the future.
