  1. Review titled Super service XRay Department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Christine Thatcher - Posted on 21 March 2024

Appointment for CT Colonoscopy Virtual with home preparation. Your Senior Radiographer (unfortunately, cannot use her name) and her staff were so helpful, kind, gentle and supportive throughout the procedure putting me at my ease for a procedure I have had on a couple of occasions previously. The Department was very busy but every effort was made to make everything personal and time with each patient did not appear limited and my appointment was on time. Thank you for your time and care. I personally think Weston General is the best.

  2. Review titled MRI and Reception Team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Fiona P - Posted on 28 February 2024

I had to have a second MRI as on my first one my back went into spasmed and I then had a panic attack. All of the staff involved were truly amazing. I cannot thank them enough for their empathy and kindness throughout the whole process of both MRIs.

  3. Review titled Splendid care and detail attention

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 February 2024

I attended A & E late at night after suffering bouts of vomiting giddiness and facial malfunctions that might suggest a stroke, 111 advice was sought and I duly attended at WGH. I was swiftly examined and triaged and went for examination. I was very extensively tested and kept in overnight to be discharged next day after finding that I had suffered only a transient Bells Palsey which left me in a short time with no lasting effects. I was impressed by the care and attention that the whole of the staff and doctors approached what could have been a serious problem and they had an admirable analytic approach that got to the final root of the complaint. They kept their eye on the ball and I was reassured by their apparent knowledge and enquiring skills: excellent I believe that the staff deserve congratulations for carrying out a complex and demanding job which extended into the early morning hours, in association with their other duties which I saw were more than one should expect to have to deal with on a regular service to a range of general public problems.

  4. Review titled Outstanding Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Colin Leslie Daffern - Posted on 08 December 2023

On Saturday 1st December 2023, my next door neighbour took me to the A & E Department with a problem of seriously swollen and inflamed lower legs. The treatment I received was quite outstanding. I was treated in most friendly manner by both doctor and nurse. My examination could not have been more thorough and with considerable speed and efficiency. I was quite amazed by the number of different tests carried out. The condition was said to be Edema (which seems to have developed fairly rapidly over the last few months). I was prescribed a daily dose of Furosemide. Hopefully this will eventually reduce the swelling. Grateful thanks to those persons involved with my treatment.

  5. Review titled Kind and compassionate staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Victoria - Posted on 29 December 2023

My Dad had an overnight stay in Kewstoke Ward, on 27/12/23. My Dad’s nurse was incredibly patient, kind and helpful towards my father on arrival at the ward and throughout his 24-hour stay. My father can unfortunately be quite a difficult and grumpy patient if allowed to become agitated, but he was well-managed and looked after with kindness and compassion. Another nurse was also very helpful and spent time talking to Dad and other patients. As a family member I was really impressed with the ward and all staff we encountered were very kind and cheery. Thank you so much.

  6. Review titled Waiting times are really inappropriate

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by Nos Llew-Blaidd - Posted on 30 November 2023

Arrived at 8 am when they opened got seen initially at about 5 past was told won’t be long then at 9 am my partner asked what was going on I was told there would be some time before I’m seen. Monitors state maximum of an hour wait, going on an hour and a half and I’m yet to be seen. Something needs to be done especially since someone with zero visible problems who arrived after me was just taken in. Shocking really

  7. Review titled Great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sarah - Posted on 05 November 2023

I was sent into the Sdec (same day emergency care) department by 111 services. The care and treatment I received was fantastic. I got the right treatment I needed. While my partner and her little girl was really cared for in the waiting room. The staff were so friendly and caring they offered my partner and her daughter food and drinks while they waited. A very different experience to the usual a&e department.

  8. Review titled Superb Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by JOHN EVANS - Posted on 09 October 2023

Having over the past 3 weeks been a patient in Urology and A and E, I have to say what fantastic care I have recieved from everyone. I had a procedure in Urology as a day patient which went fine, same day discharge, everyone without exception, was very helpful, kind and utterly professional. I had cause to visit A and E on the 6th of October due to a slight complication following my surgery. A and E were straight on it and I had 3 lovely people from Urology to sort things out for me. Kept overnight in Knightstone who looked after me superbly. I cannot speak highly enough of the medical staff at WGH, brilliant, friendly, dedicated professionals. My only critisism is that the main telephone switchboard receptionists for the hospital could be less patronising and should be clear on department working hours. Just for your benefit, I can tell the time and Urology opens at 8am Monday to Friday !

  9. Review titled Surprise Appendicitis

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Josh Hibbs - Posted on 27 October 2023

I wanted to write a quick message to say thank you to all the staff I interacted with in the last week when my Appendix decided it wanted to begin the early stages of trying to kill me. From A&E Triage to Surgery to Discharge, I was treated very well by everyone that spoke to me, except arguably the doctors/surgeons performing the push test on my appendix but I'll let them off. It was the first time I had general anaesthetic and really, any kind of surgery, so was quite daunting but everything went as well as it could I think. I understand the Knightstone Ward is quite new and was lucky enough to stay in there. I doubt you are on tripadvisor but I'd give a 5* review from my brief stay. Hopefully I won't need your services again but if I do, I know I'd be in good hands. Thank you.

  10. Review titled Professional and Caring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anne Merriman - Posted on 11 September 2024

My husband was admitted after being taken to A & E, he was under the care of the Palliative team on 3 different wards while undergoing tests and putting plans for future care together. During this time both he and his family were treated with the greatest respect and kept well informed of every aspect of his treatment and care. The Palliative team were wonderful, they were professional, caring, empathetic and supportive to not only my husband but to all of his family as well. I also have to include all of the medical and service staff that have cared for my husband from A & E majors, Sandford ward, Uphill ward and Waterside ward have not only been professional but have been extremely friendly and helpful. Weston General Hospital have achieved something I have not seen in hospitals very often, they not only provide the highest level of care for the patients but they also communicate very well with the patients family, this communication comes from all staff members who communicate in their own area of expertise and is very helpful for families trying to understand not only the medical issues but the daily needs of their loved ones. All of the staff at Weston General Hospital are a credit to the NHS.
