  1. Review titled Disastrous

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 September 2023

8hr waiting for a doctor that never came and 3 shift changes with no food or water offered for 87 year old paitent. Was required to check in twice and asked exacly same questions complete waste of resources paying two lots of people to do the same job. Ended up having to leave as elderly relative was tired, dehydrated and cold due to no doctor's being available. None of the scan results or blood test have been forwarded to GP still waiting 4 weeks later.

  2. Review titled Everyone was efficient, kind, gentle, considerate and caring

    by Liz371 - Posted on 31 August 2023

My mother was admitted to Stoke Mandeville Hospital with advanced dementia and a pulmonary embolism. I would like to praise the care she was given in Resuscitation. Everyone in there - from HCA to doctor - were efficient, kind, gentle, considerate and caring. Thank you so much!

  3. Review titled Fantastic Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 September 2023

I came in for an MRI on the 18th August having just found out that I breast cancer. The staff in the MRI and CT department are just incredible, they were so kind and caring on what was a very stressful time and they even arranged for me to have my CT scan whilst I was there to save me having to come back for it another day. They were so kind to me and really made me feel at ease.

  4. Review titled Stoke Mandeville A&E were amazing

by HappyClaire - Posted on 20 July 2023

My doctor sent me to Stoke Mandeville A&E this morning. I was quite upset and anxious before I went as had no one to come with me, but needn’t have been… every member of staff I interacted with over the course of the day were so friendly and lovely - more than you would expect just from someone doing their job. The staff in UTC immediately made me feel at ease, I was seen after about 15 minutes, and they also made me laugh with ‘awarding me the magic papers’ to move on to A&E. I was seen about five/six times for different things (like blood tests, examinations, CT scan) over the next four hours in A&E and every person I spoke to was really friendly, listened, interacted - and some also made some jokes, all helping to put me at ease. I even got blown a kiss goodbye and told to take care by the last person who was looking after me. I believe there was a junior doctors strike today from the news, but you really wouldn’t have known from the speed or amazingly friendly attitude by all of the staff ☺️

  6. Review titled No contact & cannot call

    by andromedahj69 - Posted on 27 July 2023

Been under ENT for the last 6 years. Had 3 appointments in that time. I'm still deaf in my left ear and I still have pulsatil tinnitus in right ear. Had a pre op in Jan 2023 for grommits. Six months later I have heard nothing. Have also visited GP to ask for a letter, as I work on the phones and need a specialist head set. GP could not provide me this as ENT have added zero hearing tests onto the system. The telephone number for ENT is either engaged, then rings seconds later but nobody answers. I'm stuck in limbo. Giving up. Absolutely shocking, in my view.

  8. Review titled My happy visit

    by kilojj33 - Posted on 06 June 2023

I visited a patient on ward 8. Every person who worked for the hospital whom I encountered from first walking through the door to leaving after 2 hours was so kind and helpful. When I reached the ward the nursing staff were welcoming and so kind and helpful and helped me with protective clothing and the nurses looking after my friend were exceptionally thoughtful and kind. When I left him for a little rest I was shown into the quiet room and given a cup of coffee and a biscuit. When I left I felt my visit which could have been quite distressing, I was very comforted with all the kindness I received and witnessed.

  9. Review titled I was really impressed

    by lb16 - Posted on 29 June 2023

Just wanted to give some love to the Same Day Emergency Care team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, which I visited yesterday. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and the nurses I encountered at the DVT clinic (sorry, forgotten their names!) were lovely, upbeat and funny, in what I know is a very busy, high pressure environment. I imagine they have to deal with a lot of stressed people who are annoyed at having to wait, but they were a joy to deal with. Sitting in the waiting area, I watched so many hospital staff being absolute gems with patients, being super friendly, patient and incredibly respectful, when I'm sure they were exhausted themselves. I certainly couldn't do that job, I was really impressed.

  10. Review titled When we start accepting this as the norm

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I accompanied my Father to this A&E as he had been advised to attend if his condition felt worse. We know the NHS well enough, he worked in a patient facing role, I work in a patient facing role, he had lifesaving care here previously for which we are eternally thankfulI appreciate numbers of patients were extremely high which of course will lead to difficult triage decisions and anticipated long waiting timesHowever it’s the basics that aren’t being addressed, clearly delivered waiting room updates, ensuring that frail and elderly patients aren’t sitting there for hours without drinks /food,porters to assist with patients rather than NOK trying to wheel them around, more toilet facilities, and a sense of who is actually in charge.I can’t believe with all the corridor space available on site that my father had personal questions assessed in an intrusive and poor manner in front of an audience and barely no staff member began their input with hi my name is and any real warmth, it felt like a poorly led team.Bits and pieces corridor care, disorganised and with apparent low morale and apathy If it was exceptional conditions then get the managers in with their sleeves up as our trust does to both lead and see first hand the issues at hand.
