Review titled A&E and ICU Faultless
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Mrs Pamela S Palmer - Posted on 10 February 2023
Brilliant with my daughter who had suffered an unexplained cardiac arrest. Treatment given in A&E and Intensive Care was brilliant. She's now been moved to a ward and it has gone right down. Can't get to speak to anyone, no-one seems to listen to concerns, no update given as to treatment or procedures she needs and one nurse came into the bay in four hours I was there. This is not good enough. Visiting hours are ridiculous, especially for people like me who come from a completely different area. Wish she could have been transferred to a more local hospital when they stabilised her. Not a patch on other hospitals. Certainly needs much improvement

I went to have a Loop excision today at 9.30am and I can not thank the consultant and the 2 members of staff enough, they were so helpful and answered all my questions, even reassured me when I got upset, I didn’t feel a thing and they explained everything, they truly looked after me and I felt at ease…I can’t thank them enough…they were absolutely lovely, I was even allowed my mum in the room which helped loads..thank you so much..

I was brought i to A&E last Saturday, 11th Feb 2023. I want to thank everyone who dealt with me as they were fantastic. Curteous, helpful and kind. I couldn't have had better treatment even from a Private Hospital. Thank you all so very much.

Review titled Long wait in A&E
by michjo - Posted on 01 March 2023
Attended A&E from an urgent GP referral with acute chest pain and suspected pulmonary embolism . Told by three members of staff I was expected and added to the list with the medic team. ECG, triage and bloods all done in the first half an hour of presenting. All going great I thought, only 3 other patients waiting. Roll onto 6hrs later and still no further. I am currently sat in A&E after 11:00 pm having been here since 4:00pm with no sign of being seen. The NHS is struggling and I believe the big bosses are to blame. Triage should be done by a doctor, that would stop a lot of the minor cases slipping through and filling up lists. A&E trips were once filled with dread when thinking about the possible 3-4hr stretch. To go beyond with no signs to an end is disgraceful. Staff are overworked.

Review titled Amazing experience
Rated 4 stars out of 5

I attended the accident and emergency department at 13:00 on a Friday afternoon with my sick baby. From the moment I walked through the doors I received exemplary care. The staff booking us in did so ensuring anonymity and were a friendly face of the hospital to a very anxious parent. We were immediately seated in the paediatric waiting area and within five minutes triaged by a caring diligent member of the nursing team. We were moved to a side room and quickly attended to by the nurse and sister in charge. Both of these individuals were attentive, caring and communicated clearly and with empathy. The doctor that saw us was professional, and even though I have a medical background, treated me like a parent (something that doesn’t always happen) for which I was very grateful. He was clear in his communication, reassuring and confident in his management plan. Overall I left feeling like my anxiety had been relieved, my son had received first rate care and had confidence that he would improve with the prescribed treatment. I also knew that should he get worse, I’d be more than happy to return. I am annoyed at myself for forgetting the staff members names but if the hospital want to contact me I’d be happy to write a letter of compliment for all of those involved. Thankyou Stepping Hill Hospital (Visit date 17/02/23)

Review titled There was nothing to be worried about
by patient216 - Posted on 10 February 2023
Well it was all very interesting and pleasant. Everyone was really lovely and the equipment was explained really well. The practitioner that looked after me was very good at putting me at ease. I've never had contact with the chest clinic before and I was very worried. Turns out there was nothing to be worried about.

I arrived at A&E at Stepping Hill on Sunday afternoon with a broken wrist. I was triaged, saw a medical practitioner, given analgesia, had x-rays, diagnosed, a splint given and sent home. All this in 30 minutes!!! Well done to all concerned!

Review titled Generally felt at ease with the whole experience
by Bloem - Posted on 10 February 2023
Went to the fracture clinic ten days after my son broke his collar bone playing football. The whole visit took us 40 minutes. Very helpful and professional staff, from the reception to the nurses to the consultant. Very happy with the way the consultant went through everything. And generally just felt at ease with the whole experience. Many thanks. Job well done.

Review titled Gents toilets
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Ross Gibson - Posted on 25 February 2023
Both gents toilets near main entrance were out of order 9:30am 25/02. No staff knew where any others were and there was nobody on reception. The signage directs you to the ones that were broken. I eventually found one in the restaurant; although the toilets were not shown on the sign. I am not supposed to be weight bearing on my knee, but ended up doing 2500 steps, searching for the toilets. Please improve signage

Review titled great expert service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by francis eade - Posted on 08 February 2023
I was massively impressed by my treatment after having a stroke or TIA. The nurses and doctors worked carefully to diagnose my symptoms and although they initially thought that I had a TIA, one consultant after recognising my slight difficulty in left hand coordination asked for further tests and It was confirmed I had a stroke. Again after that, a variety of staff took various measures to determine the consequences of the stroke...All staff (including porters and medical) in same day emergency care unit and ward for stroke patients a were fantastic and also supportive.
