  1. Review titled Impossible to get hold of

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mr Paul Sheridan - Posted on 16 March 2023

Trying to phone the hospital to talk to someone about obtaining xrays. None of the phone numbers for this hospital work (and i have tried all of them on their website switchboard page). My elderly relatives are needing these to be able to speak to a consultant. Terrible service.

  2. Review titled Contact

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Why do none of your phone numbers work? Tried all the numbers on your contacts page today. 39 of them. Not a single 01727 number went through. Every single one came us as an incorrect number. What a shame.

  3. Review titled Needs Updating

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 February 2023

We arrived to do blood tests late morning, there was over an hours wait. There were no seats to accommodate us in this over filled corridor(lack of seating seems to be a thing in this hospital), which is not ideal having a patients waiting area in a busy corridor. When it was our turn to be seen, I was so shocked that patients were seen in a communal room no bigger than a broom cupboard all squeezed in, there was no privacy and questions between patients and staff was for all to hear. This hospital really needs some upgrades. I feel sorry for the staff working in these cramped conditions all day. The staff were lovely and polite, even though they were lacking in the basics of oxygen and daylight.

  4. Review titled So impressed

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by JeffB - Posted on 30 January 2023

It’s so easy to write negative reviews and I like others forget when things are so good. Well I remembered. I attended the ENT dept today, after just a 2 week wait from referral from GP. My appt was 9:15, I was seen 5 mins early. The Dr and other nursing staff were truly superb in the way I was dealt with. I send my thanks, as I mentioned at the time.

  7. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Holly Wilson - Posted on 28 January 2023

I went in for an operation in the day surgery department and all the staff were amazing. The information they provided was thorough, clear and concise and they always checked on me to see if I was ok. I felt very well taken care of and well informed. They explained everything including all the after care info I would need and also gave me all the information written down. I would like to thank them for such a lovely experience in hospital.

  8. Review titled Wonderful care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 December 2022

I was referred to the breast unit on the 2 week wait pathway. Every member of staff was so kind and efficient from receptionist thru to medical and nursing staff. I was very anxious but the expertise and kindness of everyone, in particular the breast nurse practitioner, was enormously comforting. I'm relieved to say my problem turned out to be benign so feel very grateful but could not have felt in better hands regardless of the outcome. Thank you all so much

  9. Review titled Great nurses at the Day Surgery ward

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Martyna - Posted on 23 December 2022

I had my tonsils taken out this week and I cannot thank all the nurses and doctors enough. The whole experience from pre op assessment to the after care has been amazing. Ward was nice, clean and quiet and all the staff so so friendly and attentive. They truly do an amazing job in a profession that we know can be challenging. Well done and thank you

  10. Review titled Shambolic and uncaring

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 December 2022

After referral from Critical care Hemel I was given an appointment many weeks later at St Albans fracture clinic despite fractured finger being clear on Xray. When I finally attended I was kept waiting for an hour with no communication before then being told I needed to walk to xray before seeing the doctor( wasting even more of my time) Eventually, at the consulation I was then discharged to hand therapy/physio despite still being in pain and unable to perform daily activity of living, let alone all of the sporting activities I enjoy. I am hoping that this is not just because I am over 60. In desparation I paid for a private Consultant appointment who confirmed that my condition can in fact be treated by surgery.I am now trying to arrange another appointment at the fracture clinic so that I can be seen by a more experienced doctor who may offer referral for treatment. As last resort I will have to go self funding despite having paid into the NHS for over 40 years and and not had anything back.
