I arrived at 7.15am and was home by 1pm. The staff were all so kind and efficient even though they were very busy. My operation went well. A huge thank you to everyone at The Surgical Day Stay ward, especially the surgeon. You are doing such a good job, this is so uplifting for the patients in your care.

My mother had a fall causing a large cut on her forehead and a smaller one on her nose. A soon as we entered a/e the triage nurse called her over, checked her out and found her a comfortable chair to sit in. The Dr was very thorough and kind and gentle to a lady riddled with rheumatoid arthritis and more than a little shocked. So much care was taken with the wounds, the ECG and nothing but patience was shown with her deafness. Wonderful service, cannot fault anything. I hope they all have a wonderful christmas.

Went into A&E to then be fobbed of to the GP service with abdominal pain to then me transferred straight to surgical assessment ward where I was seen swiftly by the surgeons and looked after amazingly well by the nurses, doctors and staff. Had my appendix removed within 25 hours of being there and home in 2 days. So very clean and the staff was amazing including the junior/trainees. Can’t fault it apart from the casualty kicking me to GP next door. Thank you

I recently attended the The Nightingale Centre, Breast Clinic. I was there a little over two hours and in that time the team helped me through each step. They were supportive and handled the entire appointment with sensitivity and respect. I was put very much at ease. In what could have been a difficult experience, everyone involved did what ever they could to make me comfortable and feel safe.

Would just like to say how welcoming and nice all the staff were on the ward, very attentive and always enough time for me, made my ‘nerve wracking’ experience so much better. Hardly any waiting around at all, and very professional. The surgeon and anaesthetist and theatre staff who collected me, could not have been more kinder or nicer! All very professional staff. Well done Southend Hospital.

The physiotherapist went to great lengths to diagnose my shoulder problems and gave me a personal exercise program which I am confident will assist my recovery. I was very satisfied with the excellent service I received.

I was booked in to remove my very large prostate with cancer . Elective admissions lounge my first Department, the staff were courteous and understood my nerves , took time to explain what was going to happen while I was there . They made sure all was ok as we went down to meet the theatre staff who very calm and again explained what was going to happen !! after the operation I was woken up in the recovery area , where their care was second to none , amazing staff always making sure that you was comfortable and that you was not in to much pain . Once a bed was found I was taken to the princess Anne ward , was there over night till the following afternoon again the staff were amazing. The morning brought a change of staff , I was allowed out of bed then they made sure that I could get my balance for quite a while before letting have a little wonder around the ward ! I was released that afternoon after loads of checks and I was ok with the prescribing drugs I was given. Could not thank all the staff that cared for during my stay from start to finish amazing !!!
