    My wife and I are once again indebted to SGH for providing excellent professional service. The staff helped my wife to relax as she was very nervous about the procedure. We are very grateful for the care and consideration received, a big thank you to all staff for their efforts to please. My experience of SGH goes back to the 1970’s and I have never had cause to complain or criticize. Thank you!

    This is what was text to my father after his death We would like you to think about your recent experience of our Inpatients department at Southend University Hospital. Overall, how was your experience of our service? 1 for Very good, 2 for Good, 3 for Neither good nor poor, 4 for Poor, 5 for Very poor, 6 for Dont know. Please reply today, your feedback is anonymous & helps us improve our service. Contrary to warnings that may appear on your phone .   3. Review titled Useless communication

    Why is it so difficult to get information when a relative has been taken to A&E? I have been trying for hours and no one answers the phones. No one has contacted the family to give us an update. Last time it was 48 hours before we managed to speak to anyone. Unfortunately we live a long way from the hospital so can’t just pop in to find out how our relative is. Communication when a loved one is sick is key and this place fails at every turn. I appreciate that A&E is a busy department but a 30 second phone call to reassure family is not a big ask. Dread it when my relative has to go in, which unfortunately, happens often as she is 90+.

    On Sunday 26th at about 1800 I attended A&E with a suspected broken big toe. Initial reception staff were very efficient, I was sent for examination immediately, X-ray carried out within 5 minutes, seen again, treated and discharged. Staff were so polite. Whole procedure took 45 minutes. First class service. Well done everyone involved.

    I attended the cardiac day care unit for a procedure. On arrival I was great with warmth and professionalism, taken strait through to my bay........absolutely no waiting! The procedure was swiftly undertaken and the staff reassuring, compassionate and extremely humorous, which certainly helped to take my mind off of the procedure. A truly great experience, well done and thank you.

    Now I don’t like leave negative reviews! But I thinking this hospital need more doctors and nurses! I going at 5:30pm and till 23.25 still wait . I understand is busy ! But I just look like no one care ! In the end I walk away ! Very disappointed! I been in Southend hospital plenty time before ! Never like this before !

    I went to A&E with a suspected stroke, i was see immediately, after tests i was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy, at the time i was so scared but the staff were fantastic, you all deserve the rises you are striking fo, long live the NHS

    The audiology department helped my 91 year old Mum improve the function of her hearing aids. They showed great kindness and have made a huge difference to her hearing. They also took the time to explain the next step to her which may be Cochlea implants. Thanks you so much, you are a credit to your profession and the NHS.

    The nurses during my procedure today were all amazing at making me feel at ease. It just seems to come natural to them. The student nurse in the room was so reassuring and caring she deserves an extra special mention. Thank you to all the nurses at Southend Hospital for continuing to take a lot of stress out of unpleasant or worrying examinations and procedures.

    I attended the Urology outpatients to have my catheter changed. The nurse came to me in the waiting room to advised me would be about 10 mins late for my appointment and to check I was OK. As usual the nurse was both friendly and efficient when I was taken for my procedure. Unfortunately the nurse on this occasion found it impossible to fit a catheter although she tried many times. Fortunately she managed to get a person from the minor ops dept. close by to try. Again they were unsuccessful in inserting a catheter. I was then taken to the minor ops dept. to await further investigation and treatment. My original nurse did not leave me until she was sure I was being cared for and in good hands. I didn't have to wait long before I was taken in to have a camera inserted to find the correct entry point and a wire trace put in for the catheter to follow. I left satisfied I had received excellent treatment by all the staff who were at all times friendly and smiling. I cannot praise the staff in the urology enough for their excellent work, Southend Univerity Hospital can be very proud of them all.
