  1. Review titled Outstanding care from Epoc team and all Ward 12 Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Christine Coles - Posted on 05 August 2024

Our daughter had planned surgery early in July 2024. The whole experience was extremely positive. All staff were very caring, attentive and responsive to her individual needs as a patient, using their obvious skills and experience to provide excellent standards of care provision. We felt safe leaving her in their care knowing she would be well attended to. Even though they were obviously busy, all staff appeared happy in their work and worked well as a team communicating clearly and effectively. This includes Nursing, Medical, Therapy and ward administration staff. The small size of Solihull hospital appears to benefit both patients and staff providing a welcoming supportive environment. I am very happy to recommend Solihull hospital to others.

  2. Review titled Pointless

Rated 1 star out of 5

According to what I found on the internet you can attend either as a referral from 111 or walk in. Apparently walk in is only minor injuries. So something small but concerning like a rash on a child you have to go through the 111 service. Which can take hours to get the same result of attending the place. Why not advertise the place as a 111 referral unit? Attended Redditch A & E instead, lovely staff and seen quickly for what was, as suspected, a harmless rash. Can’t see the point of the unit, may as well not bother and go straight to an actual hospital that will see people.

  5. Review titled Top Marks

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul James - Posted on 08 May 2024

I was an inpatient for 5 days and everyone I encountered was courteous, polite, caring, concerned, helpful, cheerful and professional. On ward 12 everyone from the cleaners through trainee nurses to to the senior nurse were the above plus. I have heard many stories from friend and family of poor quality food and long waits for medication to be available for collection when being discharged. However, in my case the food was excellent (and I’m a fussy eater) and it was less than 15 minutes from being told I could go home to everything being there. It almost, but not quite, made being a patient a pleasure.

  8. Review titled What a team!

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Lucy - Posted on 26 April 2024

I had surgery to repair a perforated eardrum, and the staff made the experience as smooth and pleasant as possible. I did have rather a long day at the hospital as ended towards the end of the surgery list, though that meant I got to see the very good aftercare for the other patients in my bay and got a better idea of how long I would be there after surgery (the team like to keep patients for 4 hours to ensure sufficient recovery from the procedure. The team kept me up to date while I was waiting, and once I was in for the anesthetic, the team were amazing, talking me through everything, reassuring me etc. Once I was in recovery, the team promptly let my husband know. When I woke up, after maybe half an hour I was able to eat some rather lovely macaroni cheese. (And a chocolate moouse a little later). I was allowed home at about half 8 and sent home with an aftercare package. The only slight niggle was perhaps down to a little miscommunication. Recovery time is 1 to 2 weeks, and during the pre op procedure the month before, I was reminded to get my sick note before I left hospital. When I asked for this, it turned out I should have asked for a sick note in advance, but this has been posted to me. Overall though, a good experience. I really value our NHS.
