  1. Review titled The insomnia team were amazing!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ben - Posted on 30 March 2023

I wish I had met them sooner! For years I have been struggling with my sleep, and it's impacted every part of my life. From concentration to motivation, sense of balance, irritability, etc. I suffered for too many years before finally stumbling into them, and finally, my insomnia was diagnosed and cured! Very polite, continued support and weekly meetings, always supportive, and I can't help but get a boost with every appointment! My motivation for solving my insomnia had diminished over the past year, and I planned on just living with it, but they gave me that support and understanding I needed to beat it! I couldn't thank them more. With how poor quality sleep has become an "epidemic" in the United Kingdom, I hope that they continue to help people as they did for me!

  2. Review titled Caring and professional

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I want to convey my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in my unexpected visit by ambulance to A&E recently. Starting with the paramedic who arrived at my home and very patiently listened to my history and symptoms past and present. Then to the doctors, nurses and staff within the emergency department. You all were amazing and helped me feel relaxed and safe. The level of care and kindness was exceptional and continued seamlessly when I was transferred to Guildford Ward. Your high level of attentiveness is very much appreciated.

  3. Review titled Great department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chloe - Posted on 27 January 2023

The wait for an appointment was happily short and the support was fantastic - the person who advised me was incredibly kind and supportive, and whilst I’ll probably never be a perfect sleeper, I’ve learnt some really helpful techniques and manage everything much better thanks to the support of this team. I don’t know why it isn’t better known - many NHS doctors had directed me to paid for apps which didn’t really help.

  4. Review titled Fantastic practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alastair Cameron - Posted on 17 January 2023

In the present day and age when all we hear is bad news about the NHS, I am writing to commend all of the A &E staff at The Royal Surrey, who helped me last Thursday. My GP recommended I go to A & E for an examination, as I had experienced a severe, unexpected “starburst” type headache the previous afternoon. From the moment I arrived at A & E I was treated quickly, professionally and with the utmost consideration. All of the staff whether it be the receptionists, nurses, CT radiologists or doctors were a credit to their respective professions! Having been warned that I might be in A & E for some time I was amazed (and very pleased) for my examinations to be completed in less than three hours. Please pass on my grateful thanks to them all. Everyone deserves huge credit for coping so well during the current crisis.

  5. Review titled Very good care under extreme pressure

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 January 2023

My 88 year old mother fell on 4th January and broke her humerus. Despite the day she came in being extremely busy and having to spend about 20 hours on a trolley in a corridor she was very well looked after and never felt abandoned in any way (which might be the impression sometimes given on the news about patients in this situation). The staff were all cheerful and attentive despite working under so much pressure. She spent 5 days in the hospital (mainly in the Emergency Assessment Unit) and the care was very good, including from the integrated care team managing her discharge. We are very grateful - thank you.

  6. Review titled Pleasant A&E Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 December 2022

I visited a&e today with my partner as they are unwell and it was an all round good experience. All the staff we saw were brilliant and we can't fault anything. We know how stretched and tough it is at the moment as we are both healthcare students and we massively appreciate the time and care all the staff provided. We were reassured and communication was excellent. Thank you so much to all the staff

As a Kiwi couple our experience in A&E was fantastic. From the receptionist we dealt with on a arrival, through to the nursing staff and urologist, we received excellent care and attention. A bouquet to you all.

  8. Review titled Impeccable service from the start

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Beverley Green - Posted on 10 December 2022

Yes I work at the hospital so some would say I am biased but I could quite easily not have left a review. But I feel it’s important to give good feedback when it’s earned. Too many negatives these days and I know how hard these guys work. The receptionist was amazing at changing an appointment for me to accommodate me and my circumstances. Lovely, friendly and very kind. I arrived for my first appointment just to have what I thought would be a routine eye test. But how wrong was I. My tests and consultation all sorted within less than 90 mins I had several eye checks, scans, spoke to the nurses and then the consultant, had a pre assessment done and was ready for my op in a couple of weeks time. Amazing service. Quick, thorough and friendly. Everyone made me feel welcome and put me at ease. My consultant explained everything. Was informative, knowledgeable, reassuring and just super lovely. She made sure I knew exactly what to expect. The nurses were fabulous and had a great sense of humour which helps when you’re feeling nervous. They put me at ease. Didn’t rush me and listened to what I was saying. Overall I would recommend everyone having eye issues to be referred to outpatients 10. Their service is impeccable! Thank you.

  9. Review titled Sent to ED by my GP for cut finger

    by aprilrg56 - Posted on 26 October 2023

This happened on a Sunday so rang to see nurse so that it could be dressed as it was on my right hand and was still bleeding. Nurses called duty doc who said it needed stitches and go to A&E. Am 91 and no family live near, so would accept their help. I was told to take a bus (park and ride and two buses to get to hospital). This I said I was unable to do so was told take a taxi and dismissed by doctor. Nurse put on bandage and managed to get neighbour to drop me at hospital. At hospital was asked why come here? Told them doctor sent me as stitches were needed. They said rubbish, we will use strips which they should have done at surgery. Five hours were spent waiting at A+E. Thoughtless behaviour at surgery am not able to finance taxis.

  10. Review titled Fantastic team - true professionals

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Big Rob - Posted on 08 December 2022

I recently had my appendix taken out under emergency surgery and I was so impressed by the professionalism and teamwork of all the staff members I interacted with. I was treated with care and dignity, with speed and professionalism. From the lady checking me in at A&E, the Dr referring me to AEC, the nurses and surgeons assessing my case, the people performing the CT scan, more excellent nurses at EAU, the porters, and the excellent nurses working a short stay surgery, the anaesthetists, the fantastic life saving surgeons, the after care Drs (keeping the pain at bay) and the staff providing nutrition, cleaning etc. I was overwhelmed by how many excellent people I met along the way, how well they work together and how tirelessly they work, 12-13 hour shifts day after day. No complaints, just cracking on. Smiling, friendly, offering humour to help keep patients positive, and reacting modestly when thanked for all their work. The hospital itself was extremely busy with elective surgeries having to be put on hold (rightly) as there were too many emergency surgeries. I tried to ask each person I met how their day was going and how the workload was. They smiled and responded positively even though they were clearly very busy. Some were more honest about the workload being too much and it being too much for their own wellbeing at times. When I asked further this seemed to be due to a general lack of resource. It didn't stop the team doing an excellent job and potentially saving my life and many other people's that day as well I expect. But it concerns me what these truly caring professionals are asked to do, day in day out, overworked, under resourced. Relying on their good will to keep it all moving along. I wouldn't stand for it in my work an neither would my employer. The wellbeing of the staff is paramount so I only hope these exceptional individuals are getting the support they truly deserve. I can't speak highly enough of the staff at Royal Surrey. They helped with the birth of my three children, supported my wife through a Molar Pregnancy, took my dad's gall bladder out when he was visiting us once, and now my appendix too. We are very lucky to have this hospital on our doorstep in Guildford! I just want to thank everyone who works there. I am in awe, you are amazing and you deserve to be truly proud of what you do every day. It is appreciated! Rob
