  1. Review titled Great hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I've had an amazing experience today. I had a suspected mid foot fracture- and i've been well taken care of. From the Ed reception to the A and E triage nurse , to the x-ray service and back to the Aand E urgent care and finally the orthotics practitioner who gave me a bootcast- everyone was amazing! - helpful and empathetic. My whole experience lasted about an hour. The NHS gets a lot of stick, but when things work , no matter how minor it seems, we should also highlight and give kudos. Thanks guys and God bless

  2. Review titled Superb

Unpromptu visit to A&E via the gp on Thurs for suspected stroke had me waiting for over 12 hours! Witnessing what the staff adhere to from some patients i must say is very distastful but staff all remained professional, calm and dealt with the matter. I really felt cared for in those 12 hours, yes it is a long time to sit and wait! But in context there are sicker patients who cannot be seen from the waiting room with more urgent needs! Moving to ward 21 the exceptional care continued, the staff all went above and beyond! The ward was run very well and any of my concerns were listened too. I have just had the most nervous few days of my life but was very much supported and reassured by highly qualified staff.

  3. Review titled Friendly and efficient

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was recently admitted to Ward 3 as a day case for oral surgery. I had originally been admitted a week prior but unfortunately was sent home before my operation due to staff illness. My second surgery date was during the junior doctor strikes and many other surgeries were cancelled but luckily they were keen to not have to cancel on me again and the operation went ahead. Every member of staff was friendly and professional and I was seen quickly and efficiently by all the of the medical team prior to my surgery. Everything went well and I was discharged home within a few hours. Thank you to Ward 3!

  4. Review titled X-ray department was wonderful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Claire Bennett - Posted on 29 March 2023

Went for a specialised dental x-ray today and I arrived 15 minutes early, the radiographer and student radiographer saw me before my appointment time, were very efficient in doing the scan and I had a copy of it in my hand within 10 minutes of having it done. The student radiographer was confident and explained what to do simply, clearly the radiographer is doing some brilliant teaching.

Attended A&E by ambulance after fall injuring back. Short wait in Ambulance but when take in told as im helped onto a bed Doctor has aranged x-ray and scan. Not offered pain relief 2 hr later Nurse agrees to get pain relief. Further hour got the xray further hour 2 paracetamol arrive. Further 2 hours head scanned for back injury. Eventually told because of age fall must be as I had stroke or heart problem. I wouldnt trust them with a plastic doll no logic at all with their ideas. Pushed to another area vomit bowl and tissues still there from previous patient and not removed before I left 8 hours later still without tretment for back pain.

  6. Review titled Fantastic care and support

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mr Tom Naylor - Posted on 08 February 2023

I recently spent 5 days at ward 11 Preston Royal hospital. I wanted to thank all the fabulous staff for the wonderful care and support that they all gave me. Despite them all being under great pressure and some of them very young. I can't stress enough about the wonderful care and respect which I was shown. It isn't easy having an operation in any circumstances. However each member of staff greatest with a smile and a kind word. They bent over backwards to make me feel comfortable. I can't commend them, and thank them enough. They all deserve a medal. Some people will say that they are just doing their jobs. However they all went much further than this. I hope that perhaps you could let them all know how grateful myself and my family are to them. God bless them all. Kind regards Tom Naylor.

  7. Review titled Upsetting and devastating

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 February 2023

After being urgently referred by my GP the referral appeared on my NHS app with no available appointments it requested I ring if I heard nothing by 2nd Feb. I rang today and the most unpleasant receptionist grunted name? Date of birth etc. when I told her I why I was ringing she says there are no appointments available and wouldn’t be until they build more clinics and employ more staff. I left the phone call heartbroken.

  8. Review titled Mobile MRI appointment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Ruth L - Posted on 03 February 2023

I attended the mobile scanner yesterday and received amazing service from the two ladies who were scanning me. They sorted out a hiccup with the paperwork to ensure I received the correct type of scan with contrast after an admin error. They were attentive and understanding of the situation and made me feel at ease. Thank you for making this appointment stress free and going above and beyond!

  9. Review titled Difficulty in contacting appropriate department

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by David Busby - Posted on 17 April 2023

There is a similar report to mine regarding attempted contact with the neurology department. I was seen as an Nhs patient at Fulwood hospital in January when the consultant I saw said that I needed a scan on my spine, and that Preston hospital had the equipment which could deal with my pacemaker. He told me that this would be arranged at Preston, and that I would get an appointment there. As it is now nearly 4 months since my Fulwood appointment I am getting concerned about whether my details have been lost, or whether a letter to me with an appointment has gone astray. I, like another reviewer, have had huge difficulty in trying to contact the Neurology department. The telephone numbers I have been given are never answered however long I wait. Looking at the Neurology department on the website I see that the normal waiting time is just over 1 year so I suppose that I must just wait to be contacted. My problem is that my walking ability reduces by the week, and it is beginning to worry me. If anyone in the Neurology department reads this please see if my name David Busby is still in your files. A comment would be very much appreciated.

  10. Review titled Amazing staff in the vanguard theatres

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Douglas potter - Posted on 23 January 2023

All i seem to see these days is negative reviews and bad experiences aimed at the royal preston hospital so i thought I’d leave my positive review after having surgery on my sinuses today. My appointment was in the theatres today (in this case it was at the vanguard theatre which they are using to try and get rid of some back log) I can honestly say it was amazing as can be. All the staff were very friendly and very reassuring which helped me so much! From the lady on the main desk to the doctors and everybody else involved they was all brilliant. I won’t go into too much detail but i had work done to help try solve a on going sinus issue and also an awkward wisdom tooth removed. I’ve been very nervous about the whole thing and so grateful the staff helped to make me relax and take my mind off things. I hope this can be shared to maybe help people like myself in similar situations to give them a bit of reassurance i needed myself.
