Review titled Excellent care

I am writing to commend the excellent care I witnessed recently. I accompanied my elderly friend to an appointment in Dermatology on an extremely rainy day. She has mobility issues and even getting from the drop off point into the hospital in a wheelchair, she became soaked to the skin and very cold. On reaching Dermatology, the Reception staff responded with alacrity. They took her coat to be dried off and fetched blankets to wrap round and warm her. Having checked with the clinician that it was ok to do so before the procedure for which she was attending, they brought her a hot cup of tea and biscuits. I was so impressed by their kindness and empathy. The care continued throughout the appointment, with the Nurses attending her adapting the procedure to accommodate her poor mobility. Upon completion, one of the Nurses offered to - and did - accompany us to Reception and waited with my friend while I went for the car. It was about 5pm: time for a mass exodus from the multistorey carpark, so this took some time. I should like to thank all the staff involved in looking after my friend and her well-being so well as a whole person rather than just for the reason she was there. I have considerable past experience of accompanying disabled elderly relatives on hospital visits; I don't think I have ever before witnessed such excellent care. Thank you!

Review titled It sounds daft but I did love my stay so thank you
by eye1 - Posted on 29 November 2022
I stayed on the ward for five days in November after having ruthenium plaque plate surgery in my eye so was isolated in my own room for 5 days untill the plaque was taken out. But I cant thank the staff enough, days and nights, for all they could do to keep me happy and make my stay very good, they checked on me every day, made sure I took my meds and gave me the support I needed after my diagnosis. The cleaners did a fantastic job keeping the ward clean, answered any questions you might have, it sounds daft but I did love my stay so thank you again all the staff on F2

Review titled I felt safe, well supported and cared for throughout.
by virgoep49 - Posted on 17 February 2023
I had an emergency caesarean section at the Jessop wing in Sheffield. The care I received whilst in labour prior to the surgery by the midwives and all staff during surgery was exceptional. I felt safe, well supported and cared for throughout. I could tell the staff at the emergency admissions unit were very busy. However, they treated me efficiency, providing dignity and care showing a high level of skills. I felt safe and reassured during my time in labour and surgery. My experience of being cared for on the ward after the c section was also great. The ward was well staffed I felt cared for. When I used the call bell someone came straight away. I felt well supported with breast feeding and they put me in contact with the infant feeding support workers who visited me. I was discharged after 48 hours and felt confident about being discharged. The discharge process was efficient and I came home with everything I needed. I cannot thank them enough, the care I received was excellent. Thank you

Review titled Compassionate staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Both the nurse and the doctor that my dad saw today in the eye clinic were the most compassionate we have encountered. Their manner and personality made the whole experience calm and pleasant. The doctor explained things in an understandable way for my 80 yr old dad and made us feel like we were really valued and not rushed at all.

Review titled Good Experience

I attended the hospital for a Nerve Conduction Test and although it was painful at times the doctor who was performing the test put me at ease and reassured me that everything was fine. I had to soak my feet in hot water because the feet have to be a certain temperature to perform the test and the nurse who was assisting the doctor was very nice. They explained what they were doing and the reason for it and I'm now waiting for the results of the test. The doctor reassured me and told me that my condition needs time to heal but it's going in the right direction so that was a relief. The doctor inspired confidence and I would highly recommend the hospital to other patients.

Complicated cataract procedure to my right eye and subsequent monitoring, all carried out by an excellent surgeon, Mr Ramkissoon, and brilliant staff. I have nothing but praise for their skill, care and professional approach. Cannot thank them enough for their treatment of me.

Review titled Aftercare is non existant
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Elizabeth Hamer - Posted on 03 February 2023
After a crainiotomy I was ignored. I was told I would be seen in 2 weeks then 6 weeks to have scans and check my condition. I've rang a dozen telephone numbers and been told to ring other numbers. 3 months later I've seen no-one. Left scared and in pain.
