  1. Review titled Superb treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Olwen - Posted on 28 June 2024

I had to spend about 8 hours in Resus in A&E from the early hours of last Wednesday morning - it was potentially a very scary situation. The treatment was extremely efficient, well explained and done with kindness. The physical environment helped - it was light and spacious and once I could open my eyes I found the ceiling display of lit clouds in a blue sky very calming. I was lucky enough to get a diagnosis and the issue was effectively dealt with, so I was able to go home later that day (albeit rather wobbly). Thank you to everyone - you helped us so much.

  2. Review titled Top notch care yesterday and today 👍

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This hospital was poor, but somethings changed there. My father was admitted with chronic health issues. The attitude and help given was faultless, fast and efficient. Very professional and friendly staff on MTU and Capener wards. Thanks everyone for all you did over the last few days.

  3. Review titled Treated with respect.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The staff in A and E were all very friendly and kept you informed each step of the way. Although we had a reasonably long wat to see a Doctor, it was well worth it. The Doctor and the staff were all very kind and understanding. They were very professional and put my mind at rest. I did not feel rushed abd the A and E rooms were not overcrowded. I can not thank them enough for their kindness.

I was tested and put right by a very good team and at all times that I was there felt looked after. I was released later the same evening feeling much better. Wold like to say what a very good professional team you all are you are all stars.

  5. Review titled Humbled and grareful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Carolyn G - Posted on 08 May 2024

My daughter attended Exeter R D and E hospital this afternoon. She was triaged within 20 minutes and although we waited around 3 hours to see a Doctor she received the very best care . Treated with respect, listened too and appropriate tests were arranged. She was a finally seen by a senior consultant who provided exactly the right advice she needed. He gave her so much time. What an amazing person he was, and I am eternally grateful that we have access to this level of healthcare in the South West.

  6. Review titled Massive improvement in A and E services

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rachel London - Posted on 13 May 2024

I have unfortunately been in the A and E many times with my family over a period of 10 years, sometimes just leaving after treatment, sometimes being admitted to wards. I've noticed a huge improvement with the new facilities; it is not just that the waiting room is lighter and brighter and bigger, but the staff are welcoming, attentive and upbeat. This was not the case in the past, where the cramped conditions and the systems in place were very stressful for both staff and patients, and we often felt neglected or unsure what was going on. The new triage and treatment system is much better- I can see that the goal is not to have most patients have beds but be treated earlier in their pathway, by the nurses and GP, which makes sense for a lot of the reasons people attend A and E due to the weaknesses in primary care. This then frees the beds and doctors up for more serious cases; but again, treating injuries in cubicles such as putting on braces rather than trying to find beds. The other very sensible thing is to get as many tests done prior to seeing the dr as possible; it made no sense for a dr to be assessing someone without any tests and then waiting hours. This has streamlined the process. There are more staff on duty, the staff seem clearer on their roles, and the staff have had communication training you can tell, as they introduce themselves in a positive and welcoming way. I also notice the staff seem much happier and less harrassed and stressed than in the past. I sincerely hope never to need to come into A and E at Exeter again, but if I do, I feel more confident that the process will be much better.

  7. Review titled Daughters dislocated elbow

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kelly Green - Posted on 12 May 2024

Whilst at the hospital for visiting, my daughter threw a tantrum and dislocated her elbow. We were seen very promptly in a very busy a&e, the triage nurse simple manipulated it back into place and she was instantly better. After a dose of calpol and ibruprofen for good measure, we were sent on our way with a happy 3 year old with a certificate for bravery and a sticker!!

  8. Review titled Great for cancer issues, terrible for cardiology

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 April 2024

My mum has been sat in another ward for nearly 3 weeks with a diagnosed heart issue but no visit or next steps from the Cardiology department. Even the current ward, or her cancer doctor can get cardiology to confirm next steps. No cardiology doctor has spoken to her, confirmed her Bradycardia, or confirmed next steps (pace maker). Cardiology ward seems to be closed?! She is sat unable to move in the hospital, and has zero information.

  9. Review titled Excellent Maternity Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Michelle - Posted on 11 April 2024

Maternity services have been excellent. Our son was delivered by emergency C section on the 05th April 2024, 10 weeks early. All staff have been amazing both prior to and after our little one was Born. Neonatal are caring for our little miracle and they are doing an excellent job and keeping us informed at all times of what is happening or what is going to happen! He really couldn’t be in a better place. I am so grateful for everyone’s assistance and for them ensuring that our son arrived into the world safely, we will forever be in the debt of The Royal Devon & Exeter.
