  1. Review titled Amazing Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Saul Eagles - Posted on 12 August 2024

I was admitted to the Kidney/Renal ward after being diagnosed with Acute Kidney Damage. and wanted to thank all the staff (and i mean All the staff) for the compassion, dedication, professionalism and care, from the well humoured porters, through all the staff who keep the hospital running day to day, to the medical staff who frankly are a credit to you and the organisation. We all hear a lot of doom and gloom, but my experience has been nothing but excellent and a cannot praise enough all of the staff who cared for me. Thank you so very much - Saul

  2. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a routine colonoscopy today and would like to thank all of the staff who made me feel so cared for. There was a very high standard of professionalism and from being admitted to the process of being discharged I was made to understand everything that was going to happen and why. I was frequently asked how I was feeling and every effort was made to make me feel comfortable. I am so pleased to have the Exeter RD&E as my local hospital and would have no hesitation in recommending the service provided.

  3. Review titled Brilliant

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Two weeks ago I was admitted to the RD&E for breast surgery and the care received was excellent from start to finish. The surgeon, anaesthetist, their teams, and staff on the ward did an incredible job. The day went very smoothly and they provided plenty of reassurance throughout (especially since I was somewhat nervous due to this being a first operation). A call from the anaesthetist the next day was very much appreciated, as was my follow up appointment with the surgeon. In all, everybody provided exemplary care for which I am extremely grateful. Thank you!

  4. Review titled Wonderful Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was admitted to Knapp Ward for day case elective urology surgery. From the moment I was checked in, the whole team were fantastically caring and kind. Nothing was too much trouble and every question I asked was answered efficiently and in detail. Both the anaesthetist and surgeon visited me pre-op and also had time to answer questions and reassure me. After the operation, the recovery ward was also staffed by amazing caring people. Back on Knapp Ward I was offered coffee and toast/biscuits which arrived in an instant! The surgeon re-visited me and explained in detail exactly what he had done during surgery. I honestly don’t have a single complaint - only praise.

  5. Review titled Superb care throughout

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Having been admitted for prostrate removal last week I have to say the care I received on Knapp Ward was outstanding from the moment I entered the hospital to leaving next day. The empathy and professionalism they showed along with the human touch was fantastic. They worked as a really cohesive team in a manner that gave me confidence and filled me with admiration. From the surgeon through to porters the whole team made me feel I mattered. They are all a credit to their profession and we are lucky to have these people working in our NHS

  7. Review titled Wonderful hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Katie Wood - Posted on 06 June 2024

Attended A&E for my son with appendicitis and he was admitted for surgery. We were put on Bramble Ward (a children's ward) which was absolutely amazing. The staff were the best part about the experience though as nothing was ever too much to ask them for and they were all very kind. A special thank you to the surgeon (who's name the review will not let mention unfortunately) who went above and beyond to make my autistic son feel comfortable, even getting him a magazine after surgery as there was no shop on site for me to buy him one and it was all he talked about wanting from the time we arrived. Everyones kindness there at such a stressful time will not be forgotten. The only downside to the hospital for me was the lack of vegan food available. I know this probably doesn't sound like an issue as they had bread there for toast but a few vegan options would be good in an age where many more people are converting to a lifestyle that doesn't want to use animal products. But as I said it is only a small pet peeve compared to the fantastic service we were given here and the staff here are just wonderful human beings. Thank you.

Dear Staff at the Royal Devon University Healthcare Trust, I am writing to express my heartfelt thanks for the exceptional care I received during my recent surgery on Tuesday 24th June, to repair my left perforated eardrum. I would like to extend my special thanks to all the staff at Knapp Ward, Theatre, and Recovery for their kindness. Your compassionate care made a significant difference in my journey. I would like to particularly thank the consultants and their respective teams for their reassurance and support. Kindest regards, Wayne Watkins

  10. Review titled Superb treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Olwen - Posted on 28 June 2024

I had to spend about 8 hours in Resus in A&E from the early hours of last Wednesday morning - it was potentially a very scary situation. The treatment was extremely efficient, well explained and done with kindness. The physical environment helped - it was light and spacious and once I could open my eyes I found the ceiling display of lit clouds in a blue sky very calming. I was lucky enough to get a diagnosis and the issue was effectively dealt with, so I was able to go home later that day (albeit rather wobbly). Thank you to everyone - you helped us so much.
