Review titled Many thanks for a good and gentle process.
by Willow004 - Posted on 21 March 2023
Informed well and kindly all the way through the process on arrival and each test required, of this, my first visit to a hospital Audiology Department. I fully understood the process and the outcome, and was able to discuss outcome easily. Many thanks for a good and gentle process.

Thank-you so much for taking the time to acknowledge the support our team gave to your daughter. We appreciate that a colposcopy appointment can feel frightening, so it's really good to hear that we helped to make it somewhat less so for her. Best wishes

I had serious chest pain at work so my manager called for a ambulance they were really quick response then the ambulance crew came and assessed me then in the end they took me into Treliske Hospital at 2pm I was not long in the back of the ambulance took through to "rats" done blood test and ecg then they booted me out and told me to sit in the waiting room where the walk ins come to which I wasn’t happy about as the chest pain was getting worse so then I waited went to the triage nurse and then back in the waiting area there was a member of the public who was brought in by police officers then they left him he was in a bad way mentally and he came over and started getting to me vocally so I pushed him away he came back I said look I want my own space as I’m not well then another female person came over and asked if I’m alright then the male who was annoying me went off and was agonising other patients and families anyway I then had to go to the receptionist and say look I need some help as my pain is getting worse then at midnight I was taken to "the bunker" I then was asked if I would like a hot meal so I said yes please as I hadn’t eaten since breakfast so I had this hot meal brought down and I said to the nurse who was looking after me I am epileptic and I have seizures when eating food sometimes so she was monitoring me then all of a sudden a seizure happened the nurses and dr’s came and sorted me out by putting me in resus then I was in there till 3am then transferred to majors 1 where I was in a side room and I was in there till 1am the next morning and I went to amu and some of the staff there were not nice and quite rude no dignity I have mental health issues and they were aware of it I asked for my own safety and others to be sectioned they didn’t want to know then i was awaiting a eeg I usurpingly discharged on Sunday morning but hadn’t had my eeg scan and was sent packing and with no medication ready I needed to leave after waiting 2 hours since I was told I’d be discharged

Good afternoon Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I am sorry to hear of your negative experience with another patient in the Emergency Department waiting room during such a worrying time for you. I am also sorry to hear of the long wait you had from arriving at the hospital at 2pm and being moved at midnight. I am pleased that you were offered a hot meal and that a nurse was able to monitor you. I am saddened to hear that, once arriving to AMU, the staff were not civil to you. I am also saddened to hear that you were not happy about your experience of discharge. I am writing to you as a member of the Patient Experience team. If you would like to raise your experience as a complaint. Please contact the team on 01872 252 973 or via rcht.patientexperience@nhs.net. Thank you, again, for taking the time to share your story with us. Best wishes Megan

Review titled I was so impressed
by papate58 - Posted on 07 March 2023
When on holiday in Cornwall I had some bleeding during my pregnancy. I called my midwives who advised me to contact the maternity department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. They answered straight away and asked me to come in for investigation. It was 10pm at night and the staff were very friendly and saw me within 15 minutes. All the staff were very caring and even made myself and my partner tea and toast whilst we were waiting for test results. Luckily they were able to reassure that everything was ok and we were able to get home in the early hours of the morning. I was so impressed with the delivery ward, the staff and the service and am very thankful they were able to help us that night. Please pass on our thanks.

Review titled Outstanding team work and care
by decemberpr96 - Posted on 20 March 2023
I recently took my mum to Royal Cornwall Hospital Endoscopy unit. As soon as we arrived, the gentleman on reception was amazing. He went above and beyond to support not only my mum but all other service users who came to the unit after us. He was attentive and knowledgeable of how the day would go. Following our first interaction we saw 2 fabulous nurses coming in and collecting people for the procedures. They were consistently engaging and caring. My mum has dementia but due to being young this is often over looked, the team didn't dismiss this and kept me in the loop during the full procedure. My mum felt at ease while waiting for her appointment and for me, that's the main thing.

Review titled Superb professionalism
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ms. Phoenix - Posted on 27 June 2023
I had a hysterectomy in March. It was a Saturday. The teams were working weekends to get through the waiting list. ( hats off to them all). From prep before the op to the operation and recovery care I can not fault anyone or anything. My surgeon was gentle and efficient to the extent that I had No pain and No need for painkillers from 16 hours after the operation! None! My recovery was amazingly smooth and the nurses on Eden Ward who cared for me post op are all just beautiful people and supreme professionals.

Recently had upper endoscopy. This department should be upheld as an example of brilliant practice. Everything was super efficient from start to finish. All the staff I encountered were kind, friendly yet professional. We were even updated as to how the lists were running.
