I realised that a small mark appeared on my neck, and it would not go away. I finally went to see my doctor, who told me it was skin cancer. It was not the melanoma skin cancer, but another skin cancer that I did not know about. The doctor said its in a very unusual place to have it. Within a week I was seen by Royal Cornwall Hospital and basically they confirmed what my local doctor told me. Two weeks later I received a letter in the post with my appointment date. All went very well at my operation, local anaesthetic, was used and the staff explained everything to me before hand, they made me feel very safe and relaxed. One nurse even held my hand. Which really helped because I was very nervous.

appointment was on time and staff wonderful, the only fault i have is when instructions are given verbally the time one gets home you have to think did i get that correct?? my sister has a worse a worse problem she really has a bad memory and after attending hospital finds that she has not absorbed all instructions from staff i give everyone maximum stars you are all wonderful. xx

Review titled The staff could not have been more caring

I was very anxious because I had this done some years ago and it was not very comfortable. This time the staff took so much time with me, reassuring me and offering pain relief that despite some major spinal problems I am having to live with, all went well. It's not the most pleasant procedure to have done, especially if you have mobility issues, but the staff could not have been more caring. A huge thanks to all involved

I was working for 4 days in Penzance. I fell ill, came to The Royal Hospital Cornwall. I received quick, professional, friendly outstanding care. I felt ‘saved’ from the excruciating pain and infection I had as the staff at the hospital got to work quickly on relieving my pain.

Very pleasant and helpful receptionist who helped me check in and very efficient and caring team, all so kind and reassuring whilst I was having my procedure. With light hearted interaction when I encouraged it.

I arrived a little early - but was seen straight away - had eye drops put in and a short eye test. - very nice person who took me to a seat - where I would have photos took of my eyes, by another lady - who was also very nice and explained everything. I was out within the hour, although my appointment time - could have taken up to 2 hours. (Chatted briefly to the gentleman cleaner - who was very nice.) Photos of eyes will be examined by eye specialists - and they will post me the outcome. I feel it has been a good positive day! Thank you.

My partner has been in the hands of the critical care unit and the care he has received and continues to receive is amazing! I cannot thank them enough for all they have done in the last few days for us which has been torture! They have made everything understandable and answer all questions! They show so much dedication and in depth care for their patients ensuring they are comfortable at all times! They should be very proud of themselves as a unit!!

Was referred as urgent check-up by my GP and was seen by the colposcopy team a week later. The unit is efficient, clean, and quiet. Everyone here is exceptionally kind and considerate, I was never made to feel absent (as with some other procedures in the past where you're spoken "at") the doctor was very thorough in explaining everything about what she could see and what the issue was. I left feeling both reassured and respected. First class folks on the NHS, and the colposcopy team are a prime example. Thank you.

Excellent very friendly consultation. Made to feel at ease + all detail explained. My only concern was the paperwork stated will be given eye drops prior to surgery On getting here and reading the paper I realised I had not been given drops I spoke to hospital next day + was told the paperwork needed updating Otherwise an excellent consultation.
