  1. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jackie - Posted on 28 January 2023

I attended A & E with severe jaundice whilst staying in Bournemouth. The staff were amazing, far better service than I'd received from my local hospital at home. They went out of their way to help and gave me meds to alleviate the symptoms, which no one else had offered. Also spent ages on the phone to my local hospital to find out the situation & advise what I should do. I can't thank them enough.

Dear Jackie Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are very fortunate to have such good hospitals making up our Trust and you are not the first visitor to highlight differences between our Trust and your own. I am sure your Trust is doing the best it can with the resources available to it and it was good to hear the communication between the Trusts was open and they spent time discussing the best course of action for your ongoing care. We will pass on your kind thanks to the Emergency Department team who looked after and provided meds to alleviate your symptoms while your own Trust resumes your continuing care. Dear Monica Thank you for your kind feedback about the care you received from the Endoscopy Department. You are not alone in finding the team there to be kind, gentle and caring, going out of their way to make sure each patient is shown individual empathy and professional, informative care We hope the emotions were good emotions with good results, and you are feeling much better now after the anxiety of the previous aborted visit. Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had an ultrasound done today in the X ray department. The lady on reception who dealt with me was the nicest friendliest most helpful person I have encountered in years. The nurses were super nice and friendly too. I cannot praise Bournemouth Hospital enough. Thank you so much for making my dreaded visit so easy.

  5. Review titled All round great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jeff Barton - Posted on 22 October 2022

Just had surgery on my knee at the Bournemouth Hospital. Everything turned out well, and I was impressed by how efficiently it was all done, from the moment I entered the hospital, to the moment I left. The surgeons were great, nurses were great, meals were great. Had my own room, with its own bathroom. This made my stay very relaxed. I've had treatment at another hospital in Dorset, and it was bedlam.....Screaming dementia patients, below average meals, angry nurses, and painful, traumatic procedures. In Bournemouth I mentioned my traumatic experience and the surgeons accommodated me, saving me from a hellish time. I'd like to thank everyone in Bournemouth Hospital for making my time there a real pleasure.

Dear Jeff Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, You make it sound like you went to a holiday resort rather than a hospital, it is no wonder the hospital is so busy with such a glowing recommendation. 😊 I’m sure those involved in your care will be ecstatic to receive such high praise, although I must agree the Derwent is a great ward with views out over the lake and ducks for company, we are pleased to hear the care you received while there was also good. Glad we could make your stay such a pleasure. Regards Patient Experience Team

  6. Review titled Second chance in life

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Berrin Marsh - Posted on 18 September 2023

My husband, a retired captain and aviation consultant, was in excellent health. He was diagnosed with advanced bladder and prostate cancer last year. His illness was treated effectively and immediately by the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. His surgeons and their teams, who are highly skilled in their field, performed a major robotic surgery on him. All of my husband’s latest exams, including his annual cystoscopy and second six-monthly test, are negative. Our doctors and the hospital have so much to be proud of. They offer outstanding medical care. My husband and our family were given a second chance in life by the physicians and staff at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

  7. Review titled Gastroscopy put you at ease

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Bob Mills - Posted on 10 September 2022

Hi , I came up to Bournemouth endoscopy Dept for an upper gastro scope. I was pretty anxious on arrival but the team put me at ease so much that I elected to go without sedation, the procedure took about 10- 15 minutes and was painless even when biopsies were taken. I was given written results after a short time . Though they are under pressure I cannot emphasize enough the teams’ dedication and professionalism. I was well pleased. Many thanks to the entire team.
